The Japanese Wisteria, known as Fuji in Japan, is a wonderful flowering species that is one of the first flowers of spring. The Japanese Wisteria thickens up quickly and responds well to drastic pruning when young. The species flowers before leaves emerge, so it is a wonderful display in early spring. They make take a few years after purchase to get old enough to flower. Grown from seed at Kaede Bonsai-en, these trees are well established in 2 1/4" containers.

Native to: Japan

Climate: Hardy in Zones 4-7, this is another great species to get flowers in a colder climate. 

Care: The Japanese Wisteria enjoys high amounts of water and fertilizer during the growing season. Some growers choose to partially submerge their pots during the heat of summer to prevent drying out. 

Size: 6-10"

Notes: This is a deciduous tree and therefore will not have foliage during the winter.
