Many seasoned sports fishing enthusiast consider deep sea fishing charters the best fishing experience on Florida’s east coast. Our charters are a unique blend of ocean pelagics, migratory and bottom fish. Depending on the season and angler experience, I’ve learned how to determine when and where the best bite is for almost every occasion. I exclusively deep sea fish in the warmer seasons and the inland & nearshore waters during the winter. With each of my trips, I do provide all the necessary tackle and equipment, just come aboard and enjoy. The Best Time for Deep Sea Fishing
Seasons and conditions play a significant factor in our Cocoa Beach fishing charters. Typically, March through September is most consistent. March begins the Cobia run while April thru May is productive months for mahi-mahi. Our summertime staple is king mackerel, with a variety of gamefish from sailfish, jack crevalle, sharks, tarpon and a few others. Our area is not a promised land for one particular species. Each year there will be an occasional weekend open for snapper. Bottom fishing may be productive during the winter months, but weather conditions are volatile and change rapidly. Staying in tune with the NOAA website for weather conditions and updates helps with planning.

The Start of Things to Come
In my opinion, April is the best month for big Mahi Mahi or Dorado. The Atlantic's temperatures are consistently rising triggering the migration of spawning fish moving northward to feed on flying fish and other ocean morsels.
If Temperatures do not rise too quickly, cobia will still be migrating. Look for ocean temperatures to be between 68-72 degrees to keep the cobia in central Florida. Once the temps start soaring above 72 degrees, the cobia will follow the warming water northward.

We had a deep sea trip planned for Tuesday March 9th. However mother nature had other plans and due to rough seas we decided to go on a inshore trip. We fished for 5 and half hours without boating a fish. I blame this on the weather a few days prior lows in the 50s. That's why they call it fishing and not catching. Capt Richard did everything he could to find fish but unfortunately the fish were not to be found. I was extremely grateful of Capt. Richard's offer for no charge. I did not think that was right due to using his boat ,fuel and his guidance. To me that shows that Capt Richard is a very honest business man. Took my son and dad fishing with Lagooner this past week. This was my sons first time deep sea fishing. Well needless to say, it was his best experience in a long time. He caught a 50 pound sail fish on his first catch. It wore him out to reel it in but it was all worth it. We all caught different variety of fish. I got a Barracuda! King Mackerel and Cobia were also caught. And we got to take them home eat! Richard definitely made the experience memorable and enjoyable! My son and I had a lovely time on the ocean today with Captain Richard. The fishing was great, took home two large King fish and a Spainish Mackerel. Had them for dinner tonight, was so yummy. Captain Richard was great company on the boat. He's a blast to hang out with and will glady joke around with everyone. When it came to the fishing it was a tough day to start but we were able to find a school of drummer fish. He was able to spot a school of fish from his boat which was pretty cool. A very knowledgeable guide and knows the area waters well. We were on big reds and trout within minutes of the leaving the dock and ventured about the lagoon to catch different species. The scenery in the Lagoon is remarkable! Richard’s boat was well equipped with good equipment, he was well prepared to adapt to the different types of fishing through out the day.
