Polk County is a great place for a foodie like me. I love exploring new places to grab a meal, a snack or a treat and luckily there is an abundance of places to explore. My birthday was earlier this month and I had spent hours looking at cakes on Pinterest. With a cake decided I set out to find a bakery that could recreate what I envisioned. Luckily, I stumbled onto Mel’s Desserts and Delights. Not only was she able to create the cake I wanted but it tasted amazing.
I was so impressed with the cake that I asked Mel to share a little about what she offers with all of you.
My name is Melissa Johnston, owner of Mel's Desserts and Delights located in Lakeland, FL. In 2017, while baking Christmas goodies for my family, I realized baking was my passion. I started baking more frequently for my family and working on my craft. In 2019 I decided to quit working for someone else and concentrate on fulfilling my dream of opening a bakery. I enjoy making all types of desserts from cake to pastries to cake pops and everything in between. My favorite thing to bake is cookies, but my favorite thing to decorate is cupcakes!
I love my Lakeland community because everyone is supportive of local small businesses. They love to see their town thrive. I love participating in local markets and events and getting to witness all the support in person. It is a great feeling to be a part of a community that helps the "little people" work towards accomplishing their dreams.
Mel’s Desserts and Delights offers an array of different flavors when it comes to cakes, cupcakes, and cookies! They also offer specialty items like cake pops, gourmet oreo's, pies, and chocolate confections.
