We dive all year round, except for the Ramadan month (11 March -12 April 2024)
The landscapes on all sites are magnificent and diverse. The average visibility is 20+ meters, and often more than 30 meters, especially when diving deep. The water temperature is usually 28-29 degrees Celsius, with sometimes colder upwellings which bring extremely clear visibility of over 40 meters from the dephts of the open ocean around Weh.

Lumba Lumba Diving Centre offers the full range of PADI 5* courses, from your very first dive up to your Divemaster Training. We are the premier and only PADI 5 Star Dive Resort on Sumatra. Our instructors are experienced and know the waters around Pulau Weh very well. Lumba Lumba’s international team offers courses in English and multiple other languages. We dive in small groups based on experience and ability level so that everyone gets the attention they deserve.

Life on Gapang Beach
Pulau Weh is a beautiful island on the most North-Western tip of Indonesia. It is an off the beaten track location and not overrun from tourists. We are located at Gapang Beach, which is a picturesque beach, surrounded by white sand and large overhanging trees; the ‘Gapang’ trees.
The small community of Gapang consists of a few Indonesian families with their restaurants and a souvenir shop right on the beach path. To get an idea how to get here, check flight and ferry schedules and have a look at our travel recommendation.
Our accommodation is purposely built for our divers (and non-diving roommates of course). The rooms are quite popular, so reservations are recommended.
With a great house reef in front of the diveshop and a couple of resident turtles living in the bay, it’s certainly a perfect place for snorkeling and long relaxed shore dives.
RAMADAN, IDUL FITRI & LEBARAN HOLIDAY 2024
Our diveshop & resort will be closed from Monday 11 March to Friday 12 April 2024 for the complete Ramadan month and 3 Hari Raya days, to give our local crew the possibility to join the fasting and afterwards to celebrate their most important family & religious days of the year.
Ramadan, the Muslim fasting month, is from Monday 11 March till Tuesday 9 April 2024, followed by the national celebration of the end of Ramadan; Hari Raya Idul Fitri (Eid al-Fitr) & Lebaran holidays. Hari Raya Idul Fitri will most probably start on the 10th of April 2024 (dates to be announced/confirmed just before).
Traditionally there is no diving or fishing allowed on the first Hari Raya day in the Iboih & Gapang area. In other areas on the island no water activity is allowed for 3 days.
Rooms check in available from Friday 12 April 2024. From Saturday 13 April onwards we are open as usual for courses and our 3 boat dives a day schedule.
