I have been going to this dental practice for many years. I saw Dr.Ken Phillips for many years. When he retired I was anxious about my next dental journey. I started seeing the new dentist. His name is Dr. Kephart. I need to start by saying that I love this dentist. He is extremely smart, compassionate, and friendly. My health history is complicated due to having Systemic MRSA several years ago. I ended up with multiple issues. Dr. Kephart took the time at my first visit to discuss my health history. I have been SO IMPRESSED WITH HIM! I have several fused cervical vertebrae. I was having severe ear pain and went to see my primary care MD. She said my pain was coming from my chronic neck pain and there was nothing she could do. She said that I needed to talk to my Neurosurgeon at my upcoming appointment. The next day I had my dental appointment for my cleaning. Dr. Kephart came in to see me at the beginning of my appointment. He asked me how I was feeling. I told him about my ear pain. He examined me and told me that I had TMJ and that I was probably clenching my teeth at night because of my pain. He made a night guard for me. The first morning after wearing it, my ear pain was gone. I had so much pain relief. I realized that the conversation I had with Dr. Kephart was like a conversation with a very educated medical doctor. It has been a couple of years since that time and I just continue to be very impressed with Dr. Kephart. I moved away from Winston-Salem where he practices but I still have him as my dentist. I won't change!!!
I am a 68 year old Critical Care Nurse. I know how patients should be treated and I know what to look for in a health care setting. Dr. Kephart and his staff are very kind and compassionate. They are very professional. I had an appointment just today with Dr. Kephart for a filling. Then I had my cleaning. The time between check in and check out was very nice. Georgia was there at the front desk. She has been working at this practice for many years. She has always been very pleasant. I recently moved to a newly built community that has a Wellness Center. We have dental and Medical care right here, 2 minutes away. I still will not leave Ardmore Dentistry even though I have to drive farther.
Check out Ardmore Dentistry in Winston-Salem if you are looking for a great dental practice!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christina H.Winston-Salem, NC01Jul 19, 2023
I never review anything -- let alone on Yelp, I hate this site. But there's no reason that this place deserves the 1.5 stars it had at the time I wrote this. The two reviews here must have had unique experiences. Hopefully my experience will shed some light on this:
tl;dr: Had instances where they could have shamed me on teeth and they didn't. Found their financial attitude to be reasonable and accommodating. Best dental experience I've ever had.
First, I have terrible dental fears. Like, don't go for 7 years kind of fears. I have also had issues with depression in the past and went through periods of neglect. I finally made myself go because I was having concerns about something and didn't want it to develop into other, harmful issues. I called them, told them what was going on, that I had serious anxieties, and they got me in the next day. Everyone was super nice -- and the office dog was a nice touch. (Hey, PBR!) The woman who took my x-rays was nothing but kind and understanding. "Hey, life happens." The dentist had the same attitude, and took time to explain my x-rays to me. I've never had a dentist actually explain anything to me about images.
Second, I'm a graduate student. I don't have access to dental insurance. They offer a discount plan (or something to that affect) that is more than reasonable. It's a bit pricey up front, but will pay for itself if you actually use it. Given my emergency exam, x-rays, cleaning, etc. I had saved more than I spent over a couple of visits. If a business won't see you until you pay your tab- well, duh. They're a business, not a charity. The families of people that work their depend on them remaining profitable. That doesn't make them awful people.
I got a cleaning within... a week or two? My issue didn't end up needing immediate care, but this was a quick turn around in my opinion. (Which, looking back, they were really pleasant squeezing me in for an emergency that ended up not being an emergency.) I've told everyone about the dental cleaning I got there. It is the only one I've ever had that didn't hurt. The hygienist was amazing. I've actually convinced people that live out of town to get their cleanings here -- this coming from someone with terrible dental fears!
Final note- Georgia was nothing but wonderful to me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly H.Yadkinville, NC05Oct 19, 2020First to Review
I have been a patient of Ardmore Dentistry for many, many years back when Dr Kenneth Phillips owned the practice. Recently, I experienced a job loss at exactly the time I received a cleaning and a filling. My filling only stayed in a few days. When I called back to see when I could get it replaced, the receptionist said Dr Kephart would not replace it until my visit was paid. She informed me the insurance was denied. I was turned away and said when I got a job and could pay, they would replace the faulty, "new" filling. I'm very disappointed in their service and attitude toward a patient.
