I decided to take a chance with Atlanta Medical Institute once again! Everything went extremely well nice staff and I lost over 20lbs.
Downside regarding Atlanta Medical Institute! I was offered several testing and was told it's covered by my insurance company of course!
After all my test results comes back had to make an appointment with the doctor which is there Tuesday and Thursday. We spoke about my results and weight lost programs and other things.
I was upfront making my appointment for my next B-12 shot and follow up. Hear it comes YOU OWE $200.00 for the doctor visit! WHAT THE HELL. I was never informed this information at all. Honestly I could of went to my own physician and paid $25.00 copay!
I have one more B-12 shot and two more appointments! They can keep the B-12 shot. I will not return!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Calvin:
I would like to take this time to respond to your review in detail.
You visited our clinic 10/18/17 and decided not to move forward with a Weight Loss Program at that time and immediately wrote a poor review on AMI on Yelp for not offering hCG with our $99 offer, which clearly stated was for an appetite suppressant only on the advertisement. In January of 2018 you came back to the clinic to sign up for a Weight Loss Program and took advantage of a program that saved you $345 after writing a negative review.
You began your weight loss program and had great results losing 20 lbs. in one month on your program as you mentioned, which is pretty amazing in my opinion.
In addition to beginning your weight loss program, you wanted to get a lab draw done that would offer more information than the initial lab draw. We did the lab draw at that time, but did not schedule you for the extended lab panel review. This was to be done pending the results; it was stated at that time of an added cost for that appointment.
Given the results of your expanded lab panel, the nurse practitioner advised you to have a consultation to review these labs with our medical director who would be able to elaborate on these results. This extended lab review is not a specific part of the weight loss program and is not covered under insurance. There is therefore a cost associated with the office visit with our medical director as is the case with any visit with a medical provider.
You also mentioned that you had a very positive interaction with the staff. We also did a review of symptoms informed you that you could add diagnostic testing to your program and that insurance would be used to cover the cost of the test. You acknowledged and agreed to testing, and did not receive any other costs for these tests.Oct 18, 2017Previous reviewAtlanta Medical Institute had an online special for $99.00 for Phentermine with B-12 shot. I called to make an appointment and saved 5% and she stated it includes hcg and it's a great deal. Therefore I drove from Columbus, GA thinking I was to get a deal!! Of course they are saying that special only include Phentermine not hcg. They need to go back and listen to phone call!! A waste of time and a day off work!!

I won't bury the lead, I started April 1 and I've lost 50 pounds. Go here if you're serious about changing your habits and the way you feel about your body.
Pros
- It works. Seriously. If you stick to the plan they provide, you'll feel changes in a few days, and other people will start to see the changes in a couple weeks.
- The staff is super friendly. The NP's are really knowledgeable, and reception is always really nice. They remember you from visit to visit, and everyone seems really invested in your progress.
- They're thorough. Wish I could underline that word for emphasis, but they actually care about your well-being, not just your results or getting you to spend money.
- The offices are lovely, they validate parking, and they don't make you fill out a lot of paperwork every time you go.
Cons
- There's really only one, and it won't apply to most people. I work non-conventional hours, I simply CANNOT miss work, so the big reason I picked AMI over other clinics is that they were open every other Saturday, so I could actually go to appointments. But I'm 15 pounds away from my goal weight, and they've stopped doing Saturday hours. It's not a problem if you don't work 14-hour days, but it's a big bummer for me.
I still strongly recommend AMI, and appreciate the progress that I've made there, but really wish I didn't have to stop going now that I'm so close to meeting my goal.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chanel A.Daly City, CA64314Aug 29, 2017
So I've been here almost a full month and I come every week. I take the pills and come in for my B12 shot every week. I read on here about the bad Groupon experiences, so instead of going the cheap route-I decided to go inside and sign up.
Staff is nice (except one nurse) but there's no real CARE here. You would think that they would check my weight every week when I come in for my shot...wrong! It would prob take them less than 2 mins since I'm standing next to scale anyway but they rush you in and out. No care on how I'm doin with the program? Or question or concerns if it's working or have I lost any weight?
So it's strange to me.
The worst part is that I'm beginning to run out of pills. So I ask the nurse, how can I refill my prescription? She replies; I have to pay $220 for a 2nd prescription-not the pills fee itself that u pick up at a pharmacy, but for the Dr. to write it out again....I took the blood test and all that paperwork less than a month ago and your telling me to get a prescription refill paper-I have to pay $220?
So I ask her-what does this $220 include? Is it more blood work or tests? She replies no just to get the prescription again.
WOW!!!! I'm shocked. So mind you this does NOT include the pills or blood work or ANY b12 shots that I paid monthly for already in the package. This is for the actual prescription...I feel like I got SCAMMED!?
In California, the monthly fee to get a new prescription was $70 a month plus the $25 a week shot. So total $170 a month and yet you want me to pay $220 a month and that includes absolutely NOTHING???
I'm already researching for a new place to go because I am committed and willing to pay but paying $220 for a Dr to just write on their little pad a new prescription in less than 1 min is just GREEDY. Especially when I already prepaid for the monthly b12 package for 2 months directly to this facility.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We have treated thousands of individuals very successfully for 10 years with incredible results. We do understand the concerns associated with the cost of any weight loss program and understand the reasoning behind these comments. The cost associated with being able to provide medical services that are not covered by your insurance is what necessitates the cost of your medical weight loss program. Your program cost does include check up appointments that take place on a bi-weekly basis. When lipo B-12 shots are given on a weekly basis, these visits are a bit different than a check up and do not generally include the same details of a Check-up appointment. With that, during any visit to the clinic, we are happy to address requests including program questions and weight checks upon request.
It is our intention to make your weight loss journey successful. We appreciate feedback as we continually seek to improve our patient experience. - Stacey A.Marietta, GA1108Sep 14, 2015
I found AMI via an $89 Groupon special. They mainly push HCG and vitamin B12 supplements. I can't take HCG for medical reasons. So, I signed up for the vitamin B12 shots (bought an 8 week supply). Between the 8 week supply of vitamin B12, the regular program charges, and some supplements, my first visit cost me around $350. They assured me my insurance would cover my costs going forward.
All but one time I went there for my B12 shot they didn't have a doctor or anyone allowed to give me the shot. So, I gave myself the shot under their direction. Unfortunately, apparently my vitamin B12 levels are fine, because the shots had no effect whatsoever.
On my 2nd visit they did prescribe Phentermine (appetite suppressant) which worked great. Unfortunately, when the Phentermine supply ran out and I called to get the prescription refilled I was told on the phone that it would cost me $200 for them to write me a prescription. What? What happened to insurance covering things? I have never had a "medical" facility require payment for a prescription refill - and certainly if I did, anything more than a copay would raise eyebrows.
Each time I went there they told me it would take 20-30 minutes. In each case except my last visit they actually kept me there between 1 1/2-2 hours. Since their weekend appointments were very limited in availability, doing this every week or two during the work week was a challenge. This isn't their fault necessarily, although having a truer sense of how much time it would take would have influenced my decision whether to join or not.
Twice while I was there I got locked into the gated parking garage (gate malfunctioned). This isn't their fault, but it nonetheless made going there a hassle two of the times and cost me extra time finding a way to get out.
Lastly, they were supportive and seemed interested in my well being while I was in the office (particularly on my first visit), but outside of the office there was zero follow-up or interaction. For the amount of money they charge I was expecting a bit more interactive support. Honestly, going to a Weight Watcher's meeting will provide you with vastly more support and face time with someone who can encourage and guide you through the weight loss process for around $45-50 a month although admittedly with a slower rate of weight loss.
Final cost here averaged over $250 / month over the 2 month period I used them, and getting another prescription (for ONE MONTH) was going to cost me another $200. The HCG costs would make it even more expensive if you used those.
The above are the negatives from my experience. Here are the positives:
1. Most important: the diet plan they use really does work. In 6 1/2 weeks I lost 22 lbs. following their guidelines and using their supplements. If you are able to do the HCG supplements then you will likely have even better results.
2. The people there were friendly and professional.
3. The office is beautiful.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kevin M.Douglasville, GA03Jul 15, 2019
My wife and I both did the 90 day HCG & Phentermine. While we were very happy with the weight loss we can't say the same thing for the staff. Though they were very friendly on our visits they almost never returned emails or phone calls. Each time new prescriptions needed to be ordered we were promised to be called the next day with tracking info. All 3 times they never called. We were emailed tracking information once, the day after the meds had already arrived. If you need to speak with someone we would suggest staying on hold rather than waiting for a returned call.

Do not use this company if you want to start achieving your weight lose goals immediately, they use non local pharmacies which mean you can't start until weeks later after paying a fortune even when they promise you can start immediately!!! Not a trustworthy company to do business with

Hi Tara C,
We are so sorry that you feel this way. Unfortunately some of the medications we utilize are not available by compounding pharmacies in Georgia. We are forced to use pharmacies in other states such as Florida. All of our patients are notified that it can take several days to receive their medication and start the program. Please let us know as mistakes can be made by the pharmacy which we have no control over. However we are happy to help you reach your weight loss goals . We have treated over 25,000 patients in the last 10 years and are very concerned about your satisfaction., - Meredith W.Atlanta, GA10510264Oct 7, 2017
Experience is okay so far. I'm having success using HCg and pills. I also plan to begin allergy shots after receiving an allergy test. I've been in for about 3 visits, and I usually see someone different each time, which is a bit confusing. The communication about how the program works has been lacking, and I have had to ask several time for instructions on HCg and allergy shots. I used a groupon for the pills, and I used a Yelp discount for HCg. Still, it's a pricy program, but I think the money I spent is helping my motivation to stick to the program. I was on the pills alone before starting HCg. I lost about 10lbs on the pills in 2 weeks, then another 10lbs on the pills and HCg in 2 weeks. I've got 2 weeks left for HCg without the pills.

Absolutely worse place to deal with. They practice unethical practices. I called for info about a HCG weigh loss special and these fools charged me for a program that I did not request as I was not sure I was doing. I was asked to leave my credit card due to a busyness and hold my appointment. The business manager had a funky attitude and said she would credit my account. Ms. Emily failed to do it. Now I'm having to waste more time going back and forth with these THIEVES. I've been sick and this has been very frustrating, inconvenience and will NEVER do any type of business with these crooks again.

Dear S. H.,
I'm sorry you feel this way and I tried reaching out to you to rectify the situation. You did not return any of the three messages left by the staff or myself. You have had success with our program in the past and I can only assume that's why you decided to return . We pride ourselves on customer service and have treated thousands of patients to reach their health and weight loss goals. I sincerely apologize to you for any anger this situation may have caused you. - LeAndra S.Great Lakes, Decatur, GA13144Aug 14, 2017
This place is all about money. I started the program and wasn't able to complete. My medication (pills) were crushed and I brought them in to show proof. I needed a refill for 2 weeks and was told to wait 30 days and pay another $220 to get a refill. Don't get your hopes at this place. Research and find other weight loss clinics.

Thank you for communicating your concerns. We are very interested in all aspects of your experience at the clinic and on your weight loss program. To review a few things, the appetite suppressant received is a controlled substance and cannot be returned. Additionally, as a controlled substance, we are not able to do an additional scripting before a 30 day time period has transpired. The original scripting for phentermine was offered at a reduced price promotional. In order to continue to support our patients in their weight loss process, it is necessary to price our services accordingly. The regular charge for your scripting includes your bi-weekly follow up visits to track your progress. There are exceptional costs associated with providing medical weight loss, including medical staff, bio-hazard, special insurance in a comfortable, clean facility.
Most note worthy is the progress you made on the program of 13 pounds in one month. I trust you are pleased with your results and hope that you are continuing to make progress. - J R.Alpharetta, GA1137Mar 19, 2019
About 5 weeks ago I finally dove in and decided to get some help with my weight. Never thought this would be the route that I'd take, but I'm so glad I did. With a little bit of discipline and sacrifice I was able to lose just under 27lbs in 30 days. The program was a lot easier to follow than I thought. I'm happy to say the aches in my joints have gone away and I have now adapted to a much cleaner and healthier lifestyle. The program along with the coaching from the doctors and staff I received was so terrific in helping me accomplish my goal. It's about staying healthy now and eating right which they have showed me exactly what I need to do to continue on this path. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone that is struggling with excessive weight or weight gain as I was. I can't thank Atlanta Medical Institute enough for all they have helped me to accomplish and for helping me get back on the healthy track...
