Berkeley Eye Center

My son got a contact stuck in his eye right before school. No place else was open. We are not their clients. They took us anyway, treated him, and made sure he was OK. The kind of health care treatment I wish had as a normal experience in this country.

I've been going to this location for several years and always enjoyed the staff who were always very friendly. I recently went for a checkup and to get new glasses, but the place has changed. The staff is not friendly or really helpful. The doctor was really good and super friendly and the center is very aesthetically nice.

I purchased a pair of overpriced glasses and in two weeks they broke. I'm not hard on glasses at all. I took the glasses out of the case and when I opened them, the arm just snapped right off. When I called I was told that if they were still under warranty I would have to pay a fee of $25 and if not under warranty I would have to pay full price for repair or buy new frames. No apology, nothing. I was told they would call when the glasses were in, but after not receiving a call for 2 weeks, I called and my repaired glasses were in. I explained to the counter person that these glasses were defective and her response was a blank stare. She finally told she would report it to the office manager. I have not heard from the office manager.

I will not go back to this place, although it's super convenient. I've always known the glasses were overpriced, but I paid for the convenience of a one-stop shop. I've had better service at Wal-Mart.

I have been a client of Berkely Eye Center for almost two decades. I have used two different centers in that time based upon where I lived. Both Center's eye care services have always been nothing exemplary. They explained what was going on with my eyes and how to care for them as I aged. Just as important to me, the doctors and professional staff have been excellent. They were always respectful, kind, and courteous.

From the ladies at the checkout desk to Dr. Obie I felt welcomed and very well taken care of. It was first time coming to this office and I can say this will be my permanent place of primary care. All my questions and concerns were addressed and even a game plan was made to ensure the health of my vision.

For the first time in life, I needed glasses! With the help from the VA, I was referred to this eye center. Now, the location is nostalgia because it's in the mall...I went in as a kid.....and it's not the same. But the clinic is nice and the staff is friendly. The optometrist is like a nurturing fourth grade teacher during an exam and that was relaxing since I haven't been for an exam in....well...! From exam to prescription to glasses was a great experience!

Berkeley eye center has been my go to location for my eye RX and any eye issues. They also performed my Lasik back in the day. I trust them more than any other optometrist I've ever been to. Their doctors are welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. I'm always in and out fast and they have the best selection of glasses. All around the best in their field.

So the background is that my eyes had been hurting and I had been having really painful headaches. So I went in already a little under the weather - the service from the time I spoke until the time I exited the office was warm and kind. I was even able to get in the same day thankfully. Nikki (Dr. Kokel) was amazing - her obvious passion for what she does shows as she is quite knowledgeable and very personable.

Berkley is conveniently located in the Park Shops so its convenient for those that work downtown.

Whether you need your yearly exam or just a new pair of glasses I would highly recommend coming here.

I had such a beyond pleasant experience. This was my first exam with Dr Obie and he is not only professional but incredibly personal. Picking glasses is always an event because I am a bit indecisive but team is always so patient and wonderful. I love my Rx sunglasses

Dr. Kokel is super knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. The staff is attentive and supportive and I was able to take care of my eye exam and purchase a new set of frames in an hour.

Would highly recommend.

I made an appointment during the lunch hour and was serviced in a very timely and efficient manner. I appreciated not having to fill out so many forms.

I forget the Tech's name, but both her and Dr. Chou were very attentive and made through the exam and consultation with a breeze!
