My most recent visit was on October 11, 2023 at the 5419 FM 1960 Champions location. I have been going to this Berkeley Eye Center for 4 years and I've never had a bad experience. The entire staff are all professionals that are knowledgeable and very kind. Hats off to those that were a part of my latest eye care visit: Dr. Gloyd, David, Joyce, and Luigi; you all were magnificent!

Excellent experience so far! We brought our prescriptions and just went there to get frames. The staff is very diligent, quick, are on top of all details and you can tell they are trying to make the experience as frictionless as possible. Miss Ashley advised on quite a few options with regards to the polarization and tint options for clip-ons we were getting on top of our glasses. The best part is not getting harassed to pick frames, which is what usually happens everywhere. An added value to their frames is that they can accommodate for sunglasses clip-ons, the ones that stick on magnetically and match the frame, and they have quite good options. They also take your current frames and set the new prescription lenses on them, that is something not everybody does. I will update this review once we get our glasses to wrap up our experience, but so far so good!

This place is awful. This year my son decided to transition from glasses to contacts. The whole process from beginning to end has been a compete NIGHTMARE. He went for the initial contact exam and was told the contacts were not in and had to be ordered. Once the contacts were in he had to go through an instructional appointment for them to show him how to put them in. My son did not get it right away seeing as this was his first time dealing with contacts. They only give 30 min for a contact instructional appointment. Karen came to the girl that was helping us and told her that it was taking to long and we had to come back stating "this was ridiculous" she is awful. Once my son knew this he felt pressured to get the contacts in his eyes but grew frustrated with the continued reminders that he could not take the contacts home if he couldn't put them in. Dr. Gloyd felt the need to come whisper in my ear that I was making him nervous. Which he doesn't know me or my child's relationship so it was no need for him to make that comment. My son was frustrated due to the girl helping us and Karen saying he couldn't get his contacts if he couldn't show her he can put them in and take them out. We ended up having to come back which meant I had to take off work again and he had to miss school again. We ended up practicing all week before his next appointment so that we would have no problems next time. He went and was able to get them in and out thankfully but Dr. Gloyd felt the need to tell my son I know your mom was making you nervous because I stayed out from this time which I think was very inappropriate and made my son uncomfortable. No he got them in because we had practiced all week. My son ended up going back 3 additional times due to astigmatism and each time they send him home with two different kinds of contacts to try. Which none of them worked there were 5 different brands he tried none of them worked. I called today 12/18/23 and spoke with the office manager Karen who was the rudest most unprofessional person I've ever encountered. She called me and stated in a very sarcastic manner she was told to call me because I was "frustrated" I told her about all the issues we encountered spread over months and 3 visits with 5 different brands of contacts and the issue still isn't resolved and how ridiculous that was. She then called me a liar and said we had not been there that many times and started looking through my child's chart telling me all the dates which I already knew. She also said he hadn't tried that many contacts. Which later she confirmed was at-least 5 different brands which is what I told her in the beginning. Why would I lie about what I have been through with this office. I then told her I would just call corporate and deal with it that way due to the unprofessionalism of this entire experience. She then asked me what unprofessionalism? And I explained how I don't understand why they haven't been able to get my son the correct contacts.. she then asked me what I wanted her to do. How about do your job? She then asked what problem is he having I asked her why she couldn't see that in her computer like she saw everything else? I told her the contacts are painful she then says well it doesn't matter if they are painful can he see? Are you kidding me?! And I asked her would she want to put painful contacts in her eyes but oh it doesn't matter because she can see? She was not helpful at all and was extremely rude. She didn't care about fixing the issue only about debating with me about what me and my child have been through with this joke of a clinic. I will be reaching out to the administrative offices about this matter. This is not okay that I was charged and my son never received contacts that worked for him, on top of the unprofessionalism of the staff here. I have missed so much work and my son has missed so much school to end up with no contacts still. Also Karen wanted to charge me another contact fee due to him having to go to additional appointments because they couldn't fit his contacts properly in a timely manner. Absolutely not. Also nobody from operations has or even tried to reached out to me at all. As stated in the response.

This isn't first-time visit this eye centre. And I am happy with the Dr and all staff there. They are really have a good service and the Dr also really good

This location feels smaller than the Atascocita location. That could be me. And that's not an issue, just an observation. It doesn't take away from the quality of service and the character of the employees which is what matters the most no matter what.
Their hours of operation are a bit different as well. Like I believe they are open only one Saturday a month. Don't quote me. Call to verify. Anyway, my eldest son needs an Ophthalmologist, an Optometrist won't cut it. Or at least we haven't come across one who has.
We need someone who is caring and who can deal with several challenges. And thankfully Berkley has had two Dr's on staff who have been able to help my son progress amazingly.
We appreciate so much the care and attentiveness of the doctors AND the staff.

The staff is fast, courteous and professional. My Lamb by Gwen Stefani were affordable. Don't recommend Lamb brand, seems cheaply made. The color red is what got me! They are fast, will get you in and out! Then forget about you. You have to do your own follow ups here. I will go again because of the quickness, next time I will invest in better frames.

Today they were very busy yet the staff was friendly and courteous.

Went this past week to the Champion location for an eye exam and glasses. Wait time was minimal, the doctor and his staff were very helpful, courteous and professional. I ended up buying TWO pair of very nice glasses. I would recommend Dr. Gloyd wholeheartedly.

Dr. Gloyd is amazing! He made my child feel comfortable and helped her to understand the process. Staff is very professional from the front of office to the back. Great facility! Would definitely recommend.

I have been coming to Berkeley Eye Center for 6 years and today was the worst experience I've had. My appointment was at 7:45AM! It is 8:55AM and I have not had my eye exam yet. The receptionist did not update any of my information so I had to fill out paper work when I arrived. At 8:56AM I finally seen the optometrists and luckily the exam went fairly quick and that's the only reason why I provided an increase to 4 stars instead of 2. I know this isn't BEC standard so I'll sweep this visit under the rug and continue to get treated here, but this was by far my worst visit.
