Way too pricy and slow service. Quality is good, but I am not prepared to pay $40 per piece of Uni.

Give Bincho a chance! We had fantastic food and service on a date night last week, and will be going back. Our server Ben made wonderful and personal conversation with us and went above and beyond hospitality, as did the hostess.
The chilli oil spicy tuna roll was so good we had to order another! Good cocktails, the matcha green tea was very unique and tasty! Would also recommend the daikon radish salad - I've never had something like that, so crispy and crunchy and pretty healthy too! It never seems busy here and I think that's a shame, will be back to try some skewers and other items from the extensive menu. Plus I love the atmosphere of a patio on 4th Street!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gwyn A.Calgary, Canada316183176Sep 4, 2021
So ..., where to start. It's not full.... quiet.... yet it took over 25 minutes just to order drinks SO we ordered food at the same time...... which has taken 50 minutes and counting to arrive....,
The wine is ...... shit to be polite. The ice cold Heineken is it's saving grace as it's delightful. So if you don't mind waiting 35 minutes to get one..... this place is for you. But if you are hungry and actually want to eat or have any sort of customer service whatsoever- maybe go elsewhere.
If I could give this no stars I most definitely would.
No one checked if drinks were ok and to wait an hour for some skewers and raw tuna is complete insanity. No staff seems to care.
The owner I assume has now just told us it will be another 10-15 for our food. No apology just excuses that staff members did not want to work today.... this was my first visit. I will not be returning as it seems like no one cares about the customer or the products they are putting out. Had we known it would take so longer would have gone elsewhere, and I for one am sad we didn't.
New update - food arrived..., some of it anyways...: the skewers ideally grilled ....? Have arrived ice cold.
So waiting 90 minutes for some lacklustre food and drinks.... no update on the remainder of our order.
Tuna tataki has arrived and is falling apart - it's completely dried out and a very odd texture..., doesn't smell fishy.... but .... not good.
Honestly I am shocked this place has lasted as long as it has.
Not one person asked how food was..., or if additional drinks were wanted or if we wanted the bill we had to go get it ourselves.
TLDR - don't waste your time or money there are way better options especially on 4thHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - C W.Calgary, Canada397241Nov 21, 2019First to Review
This place has come a long way since last year. Really good Kushiyaki and yakitori. Chicken skins are perfect little artery cloggers, totally addictive.
Tongue and Tsukune are my favorites, and they nailed these.
The scallop (hotate) with uni was simply prepared and delicious.
The Kaki-fry was crunchy, creamy, outstanding. I haven't seen this dish in Calgary before and it took me right back to Hiroshima.
The little appy trio of tako-wasa, tuna takaki and Japanese potato salad was a real winner, and terrific value.
The Chuhai were not sweet (good), and the Dassai 45 was a surprisingly good value (for Calgary).
So 3 of us ate and drank well for $40 each at happy hour, which was a real bargain. I am surprised that the place wasn't full of people. It should be... I will be back for sure.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jay D.Calgary, Canada062Mar 7, 2021
It's was an extreme disappointment from the moment we check in for our table reservation to the moment we ask for our bill. Firstly, we can see the tables has been adjusted to meet covid spacing requirements and plenty off tables were available but wasn't all cleaned. We were ask to wait while they clean up a table for us. However there a booth table that was already cleaned. After questioning and requesting to be seated at the booth, finally happened. Roughly 15 mins has already gone by and it wasn't even busy. We started with the sushi rolls, the waitress came by to drop off the sauce dish. Without a word, she started to pour the soy sauce into the dish. And she poured a lot. She must be able to read my mind as to how I'll like my wasabi/soy sauce consistency. Well, she was way off. Had ordered meat skewers of various types but was informed that half of those meats were sold out. By this point, we lost our mood and simply want to quickly eat and leave. Not once did our waitress check up on our table. Asking for our bill was through the other waitress and the other waitress had to wait for our waitress as she was chatting up with a gentleman at the bar. I believe that the other waitress even give our waitress the 'stare' to get our bill. Pathetic. All and all, the sushi are quick typical, our meat skewers were salty and it's over price for 'typical' sushi and skewers . If you like the meat skewers, you better off to go to Ke Charcoal Grill & Sushi or IKUSA Izakaya & Tokyo Market. Not only for the wider selection of sushi and meat skewers at a reasonable price but also, a much much better service

Honestly speaking, if you want sushi, this is 110% not the place for it. I have never been this disappointed in a restaurant in a very long time. Knowing ikemen, the ramen will be a solid 8/10 so, if it's ramen that you're going for, go ahead. Tonight, we ordered the tofu for starters and to simply to put it, it was not good. The tofu was weird (as a person who eats a lot of tofu I know what tofu is suppose to taste like and am very aware of its texture) in texture and was bland. We also ordered 2 sushi rolls which were mediocre, nothing special and overpriced. We ordered the scallop pasta which was probably the most worth it item. We also ordered some skewers but was rather salty and on the pricey side. The best thing that was ordered tonight was the matcha gin cocktail. All and all, will not come again taking in consideration that this was rather expensive and I left not only unsatisfied but also not full.
