We stopped by this place on our way back from the cottage. The place was empty so I got worried but to my surprise the food was actually very good, fresh and prepared well. Adding it to my list of stop overs going forward.

Looking for a local place open on a Monday. Boy did we stumble on a winner. My husband had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich and said even the fries were good. I had the shrimp curry, exceptionally wonderful!! Definitely recommend this place

I discovered this quaint little Bistro in the tiny town of Sunderland, ON just north of Port Perry and Uxbridge on route to the Kawartha Lakes area.
Sunderland isn't exactly a hot bed for local eats with the main food choices being 3 pizza joints and a fish and chips truck, so when we pulled over and saw the sign for Bon Select Bistro (aka BSB). We figured we'd give it a try.
Inside it's fairly non-descript, it could be anything from a diner to a meeting hall to a pizza shop, but where they stand out in my opinion is in the quality of their menu. BSB is both a FRENCH and Italian Bistro. Dishes of authentic french and Italian names populate their 6 sided menu including: Pave Du Boeuff Au Poivre, Confit De Canard, Penne A la Vodka, and a variety of gourmet pizzas and pastas that all read authentic.
So what do we order? Mozarella sticks, Calamari and fries (shakes head) - but to be fair we were driving and needed something quick that we could eat on the go. But what a surprise we had. This was the first time where the mozz sticks were made of ACUTAL mozarella, and were not frozen, even freshly battered in egg wash -the lightest most delicious mozz sticks ever!
Add to that the calamari where equally light and crispy and perfectly seasoned.
If you're traveling through the country side stop in Sunderland at this little spot you won't be disappointed
