Pictured is the set lunch and omurice! Café sobahn is always the go to place when my friend and I want some comfort food. I loveee their omurice and everything else is so good like their naengmyeon and set lunches! My favourite set lunch is the chicken cutlet one but look out bc their set lunch changes every week of the month!
In the first picture you can see the set lunch comes with a variety of items such a Yakult, fresh fruit, and some side dishes The omurice also comes with some side dishes like pickled radishes and miso soup! My explanation cannot begin to show you how delicious the omurice is so you must go and try it yourself I would definitely recommend coming here with friends, family, or on a dateHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Zoey W.Coquitlam, Canada058Nov 14, 2023
This restaurant is owned by a very nice couple, and the food is delicious. The carbonara was my favourite, very creamy and rich. Was a little disappointed that the kimchi tuna rice bowl was not raw tuna, but I guess that is not common in Korean places. Overall, it is worth trying for a casual lunch.

Korean comfort homemade food in Coquitlam. With the abundance of good quality Korean restaurants in Coquitlam, it is often hard to stand out but Cafe SoBahn just reminds me of going home. The people running the cafe are extremely friendly and they make delicious food. I mean the only thing that I could complain about was that I had to walk to another building to wash my hands/use the bathroom. Would definitely recommend!

Cafe Sobahn is located in a plaza on Anson Rd in Coquitlam. The cafe is not open in the evening and focuses on lunch service. Currently, the cafe is open for dine-in service but we decided to grab take-out. When we entered the cafe, we were greeted by the friendly owners and they were happy to see us.
Cafe Sobahn offers a variety of simple Korean rice, noodle and snack dishes. They have bibimbap, cold noodles, fried rice, udon noodle soup, and bibimbap. They also have a variety of drinks.
We couldn't go to a Korean cafe without trying something Korean so we got the kimchi kimbap. These Korean style rice rolls were filled with egg, carrots, ham, pickled radish, cucumbers and mayo. I was pleasantly surprised that each roll was warm and the rice of soft. Hurray for no pre-made kimbap! The only disappointing part about the rolls was that there wasn't enough kimchi to go around. For a whole dollar more than the version without kimchi, I don't think the kimchi provided was enough to match it. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our meal and had satisfied bellies by the end of it.
Who would have thought we would order carbonara pasta at a Korean cafe? It turns out that this was the most brilliant idea! The pasta was coated throughly with rich creamy carbonara sauce and speckled with bacon and mushrooms. I liked how there was extra sauce on it so that the noodles didn't stick together. The bacon flavour was really strong in the pasta so that even if you didn't get a bite with bacon, you could taste it in the cream sauce. Definitely a must try on the menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 12, 2018First to Review
Came on a weekend an hour before closing to find this place relatively empty. There were only two other tables. We walked in a little confused as the waitress was cleaning and did not acknowledge us. My bf and I stood awkwardly at the entrance waiting for some time while the other patrons looked at us. Due to the lack of service, we thought this was a self-serve place. After a while of waiting, we were finally seated and served chilled tea, but not given menus. We ended up grabbing the menus ourselves.
Pros:
- The decor is very simple and cute - very "instagram" worthy. Menus are laminated photos that are bind together with a binder ring.
- Prices are reasonable.
Cons:
- This is a small restaurant that can seat around 20 customers.
- Menu is small (3 chilled noodle options, 1 pasta, 1 bibimbap, 1 old fashion lunch box, 2 kimbap, and 1 weekly special).
- Side dishes are not served.
Food:
- The kimbap was fresh and had good flavours. Other than that, there isn't much to say.
- The chilled beef noodles was plain. There wasn't anything in the dish other than noodles, vegetables and a half boiled egg (see picture). The broth however, was very delicious and flavourful.
- I enjoy being able to add my own soy sauce and hot sauce to my bibimbap to fit my preference. I was a little disappointed that the dish had very little grounded meat and no kimchi (was given radishes). The fishcake soup that came with the bibimbap was bland, but toned down the spiciness of the bibimbap. The fishcake was mushy and tasteless.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant is owned by a Korean family so the dishes taste homemade, but delicious. However, we don't think we would crave to come back since nothing stood out or was spectacular.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I really like this small but yet family operated restaurant. It feels warming and welcoming when you the chef being the husband and the server being the wife working hard to cook and serve great Korean food!
The Dosirak as known as the Korean traditional school bento box, is a hearty and filling course with simple Korean ingredients. Kimbap is very family styled and delicious! The fish cake soup is a big portion for 5 people and it comes in a Korean traditional golden pot! The spicy cold noodle is perfect for a hot summer right now with a nice blend of spice and vinegar on the side.
Overall, this restaurant is not pricy. The price is just right for its portion and they are all very authentic Korean food. They make you want go back each time! The food is like what mama used to make! In this case the Korean couple who runs the restaurant absolutely put their effort in the Korean delicacy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Yvonne C.Riley Park, Vancouver, Canada76255Jul 26, 2020
Excellent food - we had the Korean-style carbonara which is heavy on the cream. I love Asian-style carbonara (am definitely aware that Italian carbonara is cream-free) at times when I need that luxurious, full-fat taste. This version was amazing.
My husband had the beef and butter bimbap - marinated beef slices on top of steamed rice, mixed with butter and served with a fried egg. He wants to go back today (Sunday) for another serving but they're closed on Sundays.
Service was warm and friendly, food was tasty and reasonably priced, and we can see ourselves coming in often.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 26, 2019Updated review
I just love this place, every time I've come food has been really good and friendly service! This place is just so cute. I've eaten here several times when I was the only customer, it surprises me that it's not busier. Great specials as well. I'll be back.

I was sad when the Japanese cafe before this place opened closed. I work in the building so this location is very convenient. But took me a while to get here. Now I've been two day in a row! I'm hooked!
Small menu. Great specials!
I've had the beef bibimbap, it was like pulled pork tender beef so yummy. Came on top of rice, eggs, and pickled veggie. Only for $8.99. The next day I had the lunch special. Pork cutlet cane with rice, three small side dishes, soup, and yogurt drink all for $12.99.
Service is friendly. Quick lunch, great for lunch breaks. Clean. Cute decor. I will be back!!! - Sherwin N.Richmond, Canada1057153Oct 1, 2019
This was one of greatest experiences I had. Such a cozy and modern little spot. The sweet couple that run this restaurant are amazing, you can tell how much love they put into their food.
The weekly specials are just the greatest. I enjoyed the chicken karage bowl with miso soup and sides. My friend had the lunch box. Both dishes were amazing and full of flavor.
Each week there's a new special , you will never get tired of the food here.
A must eat spot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
