Caning Canada

Wanted my vintage dining room suite recaned. The suite is extremely important to me. I dropped off the chairs and they were completed early and their workmanship was outstanding. couldn't recommend them more!

Laurie from Caning Canada is unable to provide the weaving services she claims to and does not take responsibility for her work.

I had her weave 4 Danish Hvidt/Mølgaard chairs with paper cord in the traditional envelope pattern. They didn't hold up. They became loose as soon as you sat on them. I contacted her and she tried again, making excuses that the material (which she had recommended) didn't work that well on 'those' chairs. After the second attempt, the same thing happened even though she had tried a new technique. She refuses to provide a refund unless I rip apart the seats- making the chairs unusable.
I wish I had left them with their 70 year old sea grass seats- they look better than the ones she rewove!

Do NOT take your precious vintage chairs to have her work on them as she is not able to do the work that she claims. Do not be tempted to use her services because her photos show misleading work.

My chair was ready in one day after it dropped off. They did a beautiful job. Highly recommended!!
