Cape Fear Fence and Deck Stain

This is a mom and pop operation by a couple with limited experience, but does seem fairly knowledgeable. When we selected them to clean and stain our deck, both parties agreed that the contractor would remove all deck furniture from the deck before starting work and replace everything once the job was completed. Before staring work, they failed to remove the four largest pieces of deck furniture and pushed these pieces from place to place as they worked. The cleaning and staining was done in a little over a weeks time at an acceptable level of quality, but with little regard for our personal possessions. When the staining was complete the contractor came to me, told me the drying time for the stain is thirty six hours and demanded payment. At that time I told him that I would pay him in full when he returned in two days to put our furniture back on the deck. He then pointed out that although he agreed to move the furniture, it was not in his contract and was doing it out of the goodness of his heart. He then became very agitated and began yelling and making insulting remarks. Anyone using this contractor should look carefully at the contract and be sure not to pay until the job is totally and properly complete.
