Yes they did. I just assumed it was a normal thing for most companies that extend credit with Service or supplies.

Review is for Kevin and the cksmith Superior company.
We've been with this company for our homes for over ten years but we bought a new property, wanted to give the existing old oil company a chance and they did not compare to this company so we had to do what we had to do, and stick with cksmithsuperior all the way.
As for our technician:

After a less than positive experience with another company, CkSmithSuperior came to the rescue and not only had fantastic customer service, was responsive and came that same afternoon. Paul and Paul R found a large leak in our propane pipe that we had to have had for awhile that the previous company never even checked for. Everyone was so kind!!! To say we have been impressed is an understatement; happy new customer here!

I switched to CK Smith after a terrible experience with a competitor. Unfortunately, we just couldn't seem to work out communication issues (wrong email addresses, bills that didn't seem to line up with payments). The last straw was being billed multiple times for a budget plan we had not agreed to, having never received the terms of the plan. We were eventually told that the plans renew automatically. (I am not convinced you can renew a plan where the terms have changed without express approval, but whatever.) The plan terms arrived a week after I told them we switched companies.

Hello Jennifer. Thank you for your feedback. We apologize if any communications were unclear and if we had accidentally entered your email address incorrectly. Unfortunately due to Yelp's format, I cannot locate any account-specific information to private message you that may better explain any details that occurred on your account. Our SmartPay program is an 11-month program that is automatically renewed for a like period but you can opt-out of the program at any time. The program is free so there are no penalties for cancellation, only a balance settle-up is due if an opt-out should occur. Our SmartPay program exists to better manage the variances caused by New England Winters as most consumer's fuel consumption occurs between the months of November - March. Our SmartPay program allows consumers to spread costs out over 11 months instead of paying each invoice as they are due.

Three years ago, CKSmith installed a new heating system. Wonderful and very efficient techs checked it every year. In retirement, it is a great comfort to do business with a reliable company. Recently there were problems with the thermostat and a tech was promptly sent out to resolve the problem and install a new thermostat. Within days I had a power outage that shut me down again. Where a previous oil company might talk me thru the reset by phone, CKSmith sent a tech who patiently reset the system and reassured me that everything was okay. Most comforting.

CK Smith has been amazing for us. The technicians that they have sent have been incredible and super thorough when it comes to servicing my furnace. I have had zero issues with this company and appreciate their professionalism and attention to detail when it comes to my furnace. It is nice to feel like I don't have to worry about heating my family should an issue arise during the winter months.

Consumer beware! This company is completely unresponsive, disrespectful when they do speak to you, they have no clue what customer service is.
They installed a brand new propane fireplace and propane tank in my house one year ago. This fall I had difficulty trying to light the pilot light in my new fireplace. I called there service line for some assistance. They set up an appointment five days later between the hours of 9 AM and 12 PM. At 2 PM, I had to call and ask if the technician was going to be arriving. The very nice customer service lady informed me that they received a more important job that the technician needed to be sent to and he wasn't going to be available that day. I asked her if they ever thought to call me and inform me of that because I took a day off of work to be at home so they could service my fireplace. She apologized and made some phone calls to see what they can do. They sent a "service tech" that afternoon but all he brought was a lighter. Sloppily dressed. His own personal pick up truck. No tool box. No supplies. No replacement parts of any variety. Just simply a dollar store later...... Now folks, I'm a very handy individual and tried repairing my fireplace myself and I also possess a lighter but what I worked on didn't work therefore I called them for their assistance. After 45 minutes of fiddling around in my fireplace and breaking one of the ceramic firelogs (see the picture) the service tech tells me that I need new sensors for my one-year-old unit. How he and his lighter were able to determine that are well beyond me because he admitted he doesn't know how the system works. He thought he was just coming to help light a pilot light and that's all he was capable of doing
It is now been three weeks since they came to "service" my fireplace and I have yet to hear from anyone with competence at this organization. They had a joker by the name of David Bassett call me Who was very rude and disrespectful from the opening seconds of the phone call. In a very stern voice as if I was being disrespectful to him by inquiring about the sensors i need, he tells me " I told you three weeks ago that we are waiting on parts and we will call you when they're available and will set up an appointment to come fix your fireplace" as if me calling three weeks after our previous conversation was me being a little too pussy to find out why I don't have heat in my house.
I will be doing everything I can to spread the word about this very terribly Ron poorly managed dissed respect full company and I'm very much looking forward to talking to Mr. CK Smith next week to understand what is going to be done not only with my fireplace but the rude and disrespectful people that they allowed to manage their customers.

Our technician Doug was awesome!! He called us back promptly, we explained what was happening and he quickly knew what it was going to be. We had a couple of different issues regarding service to our tank, but they sent someone two days after to fix it and he was awesome. We had a misunderstanding on the phone that we were trying to resolve. Pat, the reception, was rude and did not listen to what we were trying to tell her. We thought we spent $400 for nothing. We later found out that we did in fact get what we paid for, but Pat did not explain it in an efficient way, resulting in more confusion and conflict. She could have been nicer in explaining the situation, but she wasn't, so we were transferred to the customer service manager, Marcia.
I give Marcia these stars because she was absolutely great, she was professional and helped us fix the situation in a calm manner, without the stress from the previous person we spoke to. Marcia was great and I highly recommend speaking to her if you have an issue. She's the reason we will keep returning.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
