I don't even know where to start with how awful my experience was with this company. I had a move for a 3-bedroom house scheduled. Their estimate guy came and look at my place and told me they could help
pack if I needed it.
Day of move, they came and said they couldn't help pack and couldn't move me. We went back and forth for 45 minutes while they stood around doing NOTHING, but charged me for the time. Finally, they started after I moved furniture out myself.
They put an air conditioner on top of an antique table with NO blanket to protect the table. They did nothing the estimate guy said they would do, which was to offer "white glove service," and stress-free moving. Everything about the move was stressful and subpar.
At one point, they closed the truck before finishing. There were still small items outside they needed to move. When I asked them what was going on, they said their truck was full. At no point did they communicate that was happening, nor did they move the furniture back in the house.
At the new place, they left a couch on the sidewalk because they refused to remove a door from its hinges, despite telling me they were able to do so. I called a friend who retired from the moving business and he and another friend had that couch inside my apartment in less than 10 minutes. My friends are 65 and 71. They are the real hunks. Not like this college junk.
To add insult to injury, they left a rug on top of a kitchen table. I didn't notice it until they left, but it indicated a high level of disrespect and lack of professionalism. They damaged my doorway when one of them tried to force a couch in despite three people, including me, telling him to stop. Well, he didn't listen and the door is damaged and I am still waiting for the promised call from their office manager.
They also put one of their advertising signs in a neighbor's garden without asking them and then arguing with me when I told them to remove it if they did not have permission.
At one point, their boss showed up and had the audacity to lie directly to my face about what I was told and what the crew was told about the packing. I am absolutely appalled by the way both my belongings and I were treated by this company. If you want a good, respectful, and truly white glove and stress-free move, go with Gentle Giant. College Hunks Providence, RI, sent me an email and asked for my review of their service on Wednesday, April 19th, so here it is:
Hello Alaijha,
Ok, so I used your service because the cost shown on the estimate sent to me from your website for one (1) item was "approximately $125". However, when the movers arrived, they said it would be
"$175.00". Of course, this was sticker shock to me because a tip was also expected!!!
So, three (3) movers showed up, and two (2) of them carried the sofa, and the third one carried the 3 seat cushions! SMH!
While these guys were friendly and nice, but your business practices need to be more honest and forthright when it comes to your pricing. I paid your price but hindsight being 20/20, I wish I had done more research to find a more economical company in Rhode Island! Bad lesson learned on my part, but maybe someone else will avoid my mistake.

I was pleased with the service and the professionalism--lots of follow up, emails, calls, etc. On moving day both Jared and Desmond were very polite, communicated well and were accommodating with what I needed to have moved to another RI location. Would definitely use them again for other jobs!

Unfortunately we had a negative experience with College Hunks in RI. We were moving from one house to another in-state and had quoted with several companies. College Hunks had a representative come on site to walk through the house and provide a quote. We chose them as they offered packing services as well as moving. The packers showed up one day and seemed to do a good job, but left without finishing. They said the next day they would finish up and pack the truck. The next day came, and a new crew showed up knowing nothing about having to finish packing. After they called their boss/coordinator they did pack (although they didn't have sufficient materials with them) and start loading the truck. This is where the big surprise came, they didn't have nearly enough room in the truck they brought and said they would need a second day and truck to finish. Keep in mind, that day they were supposed to load the truck, drive to the new house, and unload. Now we are are in a position where our house is half packed and loaded, and what are we to do? Ultimately they did finish on the the third day, but then the best part is we were billed roughly twice what we were quoted. This was promised to be resolved, but never was. I would never recommend this company based on this poor experience.
The movers themselves were nice and professional, but how this situation could occur is beyond me. Completely unacceptable and then to have to pay even more on top of it all.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We moved in on August 1, an obviously very busy day for movers, and the 3 that brought all of our stuff from the truck, up a flight of stairs, and into our place were amazing! They arrived a few minutes early and were ready to get started! Very professional, friendly and, fast. Highly recommend! We would definitely hire them again!

I was lucky enough to use this company twice in one month and they were consistently aimed at making the move a smooth and stress free process. The movers were all nice, pleasant, polite and friendly. They worked well as a team and had good ideas. It was frustrating at the booking because they do ask a lot about what's being moved, like by bedrooms, etc., so I found it easier to just ask for a quote and they sent someone by to look at the stuff and make a educated decision about how many people would be needed, how big the truck would be, how long the job would take. They were right on the facts. I'd recommend them to my family and friends.

I filled out the form for them to call me late Saturday night. There website said open Monday so I figured they'll call Monday at some point. NOPE they called us EASTER SUNDAY at 9:00in the morning with a quick hello and a barraige of questions..like can I open my eyes 1st please. When I asked if they could call back I hit with another round of rapid fire questions..just from this alone I would never use
