Took the BLS course
Quick and easy: 3 hours and 30 minutes.
-Performance/Practice with high-tech CPR dummies
-Videos and Q & A
-Written exam at the end
David has a superior knowledge and is well qualified (maybe even overqualified) for teaching and certifying students taking these courses.
I was very pleased taking the BLS course and surprised by how informative his answers were whenever I asked questions. David covers all grounds and makes sure that you know the material forwards and backwards and to make sure you're paying attention he'll ask you questions prior, during, and after each part of the session.
In addition he makes sure you feel comfortable asking the questions no matter how absurd or how dumb they may be.
If you have taken a CPR course in the past and have forgotten everything, it is absolutely necessary that you buy the book and read through it prior to class (this makes the practice and performance as well as the written exam go much more smoothly)
I highly recommend this course.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lynn D.Chicago, IL3525Dec 6, 2022
I strongly feel that CPR is one of those things that you should take in person. An online course just doesn't cut it. You don't get the feedback and to ask questions that arise as you're going through the process. I received tips and hints on correcting my form, my placement and I kept forgetting to plug the mannequin's nose. I remember now from the feedback. You just wouldn't get that online. You also get the tactile practice and a better sense of things. It's more similar to a real life situation. The other students also had questions just arose as you're practicing and it was informative and information I wanted to know as well. As a new parent, I feel much better about being able to handle an emergency. The class is definitely worth it and David is a great instructor! He is very responsive and helpful.

My husband and I took the friends and family class recently with David. This class was absolutely fantastic. As a soon to be first time mom, I wanted to receive training in CPR in case I ever needed it with my child. However, many of the licensure classes are pretty expensive. I don't need the actual license for my job. This is just a skill I want to have in case of an emergency. Well the friends and family class with Dave was $50 per couple. This means my husband and I were both able to take the class for $50. We got a little booklet and a chance to practice on the dummies. Also, the class was shorter than most since it only covered children and infants. It was about an hour and 45 minutes instead of 3 hours for some classes. It was engaging and informational. David answered everyone's questions and kept your attention. It was a great class to take for first time parents, grandparents, or anyone responsible for taking care of a child. Just keep in mind, you don't get a license and the Friends and Family class only covers infants and children.

Great class! I highly recommend and will be back in two years. Easy to follow, Dave answers questions before they are asked and is personable. I really liked the ease of scheduling an appointment through the website and not having to wait on hold and the updating emails that were sent out.

I am a co-leader for a Girl Scout troop of 12 yo girls, and Dave was amazing! He helped the girls learn Adult and Child CPR/AED, and he also made them laugh at the same time. He was open to new ideas and worked with our schedule. I would absolutely use Downers Grove CPR every time!
