I had a bad experience with this store. I dropped my iPhone and cracked the screen, so I took it to this store for repair. Other than the cracked screen, the phone was working perfectly fine. I was able to use it as normal before giving it to them. The person taking it in also made sure that it was working fine, e.g. it can do phone calls, camera is working, home button is working, and all the tabs are working. They said they can do the repair and I can pick up the phone in 2 hours.
2 hours later, I went back and they said the phone is not ready, and told me to come back later at their closing time at 4 pm. I waited and went back at 4 pm, and this time they tell me that although the screen is fixed, the home button stopped working! They were aware the home button was working fine previously, but somehow, after screen replacement, it no longer works. It's funny they tried to make me pick up my phone in that condition and be done with it. I said the home button issue now is a bigger problem than the screen and you should fix it, and left my phone with them for another day.
Next day, they told me they couldn't fix it and there's nothing more they can do. They glued my original cracked screen back on and told me to go to the Apple Store. They handled the situation very poorly and I would not trust them with any valuable electronics. When a problem occurs, you should call your customer and communicate that to them, and proactively offer a solution. Instead I went back to the store 3 times without proper communication from them and no resolution of the problem.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ben L.Toronto, Canada671Dec 4, 2015
More expensive and Less professional? No thanks.
Wherever you go in the city, you will likely get the same (cheap) replacement screen. So really, its a question of PRICE and PROFESSIONALISM. The PRICE was a little higher than others in the city, but talking to the guy at the store, he seemed to be helpful in repairing it quickly, and advising me on how to stop it from happening again. I walked out with a replaced screen and a "very strong thick protective glass cover" which stopped me from typing the letter "p" (and the entire right side of the screen). Or so I thought...
The "very strong" cover broke, and after removing it, the "p" letter still did not work. I took it in, but because there was a small nick in the corner of the glass screen, they claim they could not fix it, due to damage. THEIR 30 DAY WARRANTY is BS.
The entire screen works, except for the rightmost sliver. Sure, shame on me for not bringing it in sooner. But at the end of the day... THEIR INITIAL REPAIR DID NOT REPAIR MY PHONE. They either used a faulty part, or did not perform the repair properly.
Save your money. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. If you MUST go here, check your phone thoroughly in store before you leave, as their 30 day warranty means nothing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Luanne M.San Francisco, CA01May 1, 2017
The owner, Eddy, first quoted me a price of $50, then $60 and when I went to the store, they wanted to charge me $75. I would be very, very wary of doing business with the store. The price they quote may not be the price you pay...

I cracked my Nexus 4 really bad and took it into Dyna-Smart and it was fixed up perfectly in about an hours time. It cost $120 which seemed not too bad to me, compared to how much it would have cost to buy the phone outright and get onto another contract.
There is no actual bike parking out front but I locked mine to a hydro pipe close by.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peter M.Toronto, Canada03Jan 5, 2014
They ruined my iPhone 4s.
I broke the front screen and brought it here for a fix. Initially, I was very happy with the speedy, inexpensive repair. But within minutes of leaving the shop I realized that the headphone jack was no longer working. And neither was the power button. Both were working just fine before I brought it in for repair at "Dyna-Smart."
I brought the phone back there the next day and they denied any responsibility for the new damage and refused to do anything about it.
I took the phone to iRepair on College St later for an assessment and they told me that whoever had worked on the phone before had done big damage inside, including stripped screws, which meant they couldn't even repair it.
I'm now on the hook for a new phone.
Thanks alot mother-F****ers at Dyna-Smart!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Per our records, you never repaired your iPhone 4S in our store! This is an apparent malicious review trying to badmouth our store in attempt to promote our competitor (ie. iRepair). Every smartphone technician knows that unless the power switch & sensor flex ribbon cable was cut purposely, an LCD screen replacement would never effect the power switch function. Bring your repair invoice to us to proof that you did this repair at our store as a proof! Thank you for your fake review.

My puppy bit the corner of my Samsung Galaxy 6 screen, cracking it on the bottom right corner. I called around with quotes as high as $250. After speaking to a few techie friends they suggested I call around and find a better deal. I got a quote of $150 over the phone and went in a few days later. It was done in an hour for the quoted price.
The shop looks a bit shady with the two male employees hiding in the back behind dividers. I really keep no personal info on my phone but I can see how people may have second thoughts leaving it behind.
Fast, great location and good work. I also picked up a screen protector and head phones, all under $200. I particularly recommend this store because of it's location and that it fixes this model in particular-many cell phone repair shops do not.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas H.Toronto, Canada01322Oct 23, 2013Updated review
After going and back for many many times, my phone was finally repaired. They ended up getting a duplicate phone and switching out the parts. Everything is fixed and working perfect now. The repairman was very friendly always. However the owner wasn't going to give my phone back until I deleted my first review off yelp. Extremely unprofessional to hold my phone hostage until I deleted a review. I understand that mistakes happen and when my phone was broken worse while in their care it's not a huge deal but how they handled it afterwards was pretty bad.
I was made to feel like the fact they were replacing parts of the phone was exceptional service, when in fact, it is just expected considering they were working fine before I brought them in and no longer working when I got my phone back. It was exemplary for the business to buy a new phone and replace the broken parts, it was what they should do, and I appreciated they did it, but the amount of time, the back and forth and lack of upfrontness on when it would be done was frustrating. Holding the phone hostage until I deleted a yelp review, simply unacceptable.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

DynaSmart takes seriously all customer complaints. So after we reviewed the problem of this particular case, we replaced the customer's iPhone 4S' logic board at our own cost! Even though we take great care in repairing process, unexpected accident can always happen that cause other unrelated problem since a smartphone has many intricate and tiny stuff inside it. This cud happen to the best technicians in the world!
By the way, the girl sitting at the side desk is from "Speed Dynamic Printing", which occupies the same space as our DynaSmart. She is completely unrelated to our cell phone repair service!
We welcome you to visit our new store at 626 Wilson Ave. near Yorkdale Mall, where we offer complete FREE inspection, advises and cost estimate to solve all your smartphone service issues! We even provide FREE SIM card cutting service from Standard sizd to Micro / Nano size to suit different smartphones.Oct 14, 2013Previous reviewI brought my iPhone in because the ear piece receiver was broken and the power button didn't work. When I went to pick it up they were still putting it back together and so I had to wait for a while. Until he finally just asked that I come back later. When I came back he asked me if my power button had always been broken because he couldn't get it to work, I said "yeah that is why I brought it into you". Anyway, both problems were fixed but when I left I realized my headphone jack no longer worked. I came back a few days later and explained while fixing one problem they created another. He didn't have any headphone jacks and asked I come back in a few days. So I did, they fixed the headphone jack, but then once I left I realized the music only played through the headphone and no longer through the speaker, the earpiece receiver was broken again and the camera didn't work anymore. I brought it back, they took in and did the repairs, when I came to pick it up, he said "just give me five more minutes", 20 minutes later he came out and told me everything was fixed except the camera, and that he didn't know how to fix it and "would google it that night". I came back a couple days later, and they took my phone again saying he would replace the camera. I came back at the end of the day and he told me he didn't fix that I would have to wait 3 days until the expert came in and he could probably fix it. So at this point, I have been there way too many times, no one had been upfront with me, more problems occurred then before I ever met these people and my phone still has a broken camera. We will see if that ever gets working again.
Oh and don't even bother trying to talk to the girl who sit at the front desk on her computer all day long, she won't speak to you, help you or assist you in anyway, just stand there and wait until one of the other people happen to realize there is a customer in the store. - Mike D.Toronto, Canada018Aug 7, 2014
FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL. OK...is that enough? Really, don't go here. There's serious problems.
#1. I called about 2 weeks ago, regarding my Nexus S (yes the 4 - 5 year old one), its got a power port (micro usb), I have to bend the chord for it to charge. When I spoke with them by phone. They said, it requires saudering, and yes we can do it, come early, its about an hours work, and its $50. OK.
I took it to them, they thought it was the chord, so $5.00 later we changed the chord. It wasn't.
Today I took it back to them for 11am. First they didn't realize it was a sauder job. Thought it was a simple replacement. They didn't even recognize it as a Nexus S. Fail #1. Your in the phone business, I would think you'd know what you were looking at.
Next. It was going to take at least 2 hours and would prefer it left over night, WHAT? no..I'm not leaving my phone somewhere, with someone else to have the password. Fail #2.
Next, they said the needed part, they didn't have, nor could they say when it would be available. Fail #3.
Next: The price wasn't $50, it was $60, although I remarked to them I was quoted as $50, and they acknowledged it. But why say its $60, when you've already $50. Shady Shady Shady. Fail #4.
I don't have issues, with pricing, or timeliness, but seriously folks, don't LIE. Don't say its one thing, then it becomes another. If you the tech is wrong, bite the bullet.
Just saying.
Don't bother, don't waste your time.

I dropped my Samsung Galaxy 3 for the umpteenth time and it finally broke. Basically the screen stopped working. I took it in the Dyna-Smart and they said they could replace the screen in a couple of hours for $190. They delivered on time and on budget. Overall a great experience. Give them a shot.

If I had reviewed this place right after going, I would have been much more positive. I meant to post a review earlier but didn't get around to it. I'm glad I waited because my opinion of this place has changed quite drastically.
I went in looking for a Nexus 5 case and an accessory for an older phone my mom uses.
The staff were mostly helpful and showed me a nice case for a decent price and tried to help me find the accessory I needed. I ended up buying the case, an accessory that I guessed was compatible and a cheap micro USB cable.
The case is nice and slick, the accessory ended up working as needed but the micro USB was a piece of junk. I wasn't expecting much for five bucks anyway.
About a week later, I noticed the case didn't quite fit the phone with a screen protector on. It pushes it up in the bottom right corner. It's more annoying than anything. It got to the point where I figured I was due for a new protector anyway so I went back to the store.
This time, my experience was quite a bit worse. There was a colourful older man dressed in army fatigues and had a bunch of anti Rob Ford material. He, like the screen protector, was more annoying than anything. A woman helping him paid very little attention to me. After several minutes, I tried asking her for help and almost instantly got told "They'll help you behind the counter there." The only problem was no one came from behind the closed off area when I entered the store, nor when the woman told me this. I waited another five minutes before the man who helped me last time came out. I told him that the case didn't fit with the screen protector and asked could they either fix it or apply a new one.
The man took my phone and the screen protector and handed it to some guy out of site... probably not the best idea the more I think about it.
He eventually gave it back, charged about $11.50 for the "labour" and a back up protector. It looked pretty well applied at first but it quickly rubbed and raised to be almost unusable.
In conclusion, overall the service was poor, they sold a case that doesn't properly fit and they seemed hardly accountable. I don't think I would come here again except maybe for a hard to find accessory.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
