The meal very good. The size and sides were delicious. I gave 3 stars because queso costs 6.50 and it wasn't really queso. The second batch of chips were 5.00. A 47$ bill for 6 tacos and a burrito plate. Feels like I'm in LA at a fancy restaurant. Live and learn.

We found a secret little spot. I say secret because I drive past this little shopping center all the time and I never knew this delicious Mexican restaurant was here in the corner! I'd say this place is like a hole in a wall, saying that in the best way possible! It's a family owned business. The owner is from Chihuahua and his wife is from here. There is one waitress who was great! I wish I could spell the name but gosh it was so pretty and I'll totally butcher it, it was like Dechaniza(I'm totally wrong).
They serve you freshly made tortilla chips with salsa. They have Pepsi products here. The Pepsi was so bomb! I love a good Pepsi! We got the 4 flauta plate and the taco, tamale & enchilada plate. I recommend them both! We shared those two plates and it was delicioso!Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 1Business owner information

The food was good and the service was good. My complaint and the reason for the 3 stars is that I asked for more chips and I also asked for queso instead of salsa with my tacos. I got nacho cheese, not queso and was charged an additional $6.50. If someone would have told me that the substitution was $6.50 I would have just had the salsa. (They didn't take anything off for not having salsa, just charged me for a side of nacho cheese.) When we got the bill, there was also a $5 charge for the chips. My biggest complaint is that the waitress didn't tell us about these charges so when we got the bill and it was almost $12 more than we were expecting it was a surprise. $12 for chips and cheese! They definitely should inform the customers when requests are going to add additional charges so they can decide if they want to pay that much. This restaurant is directly behind Hot Tamale. At Hot Tamale they will refill your chips as much as you want with no additional fees. Guess where we will go next time? If restaurants want to compete, they need to do right by the customers by telling them about additional charges, and not charging for chips that every other Mexican restaurant puts out and refills for free. It's a shame because my meal was really good and I just left with a bad taste because of the surprise bill.

The enchiladas were great and the rest of family loved the food there. There was great service and they even shut the blinds for us when the sun was shining in our eyes. The restaurant had some good decoration but nothing special.

April thank you so much for ordering with us. It's always a pleasure to serve you and your family. We are glad you enjoy our tacos, see you soon!
Dec 12, 2020Previous reviewIf you need a proper taco- visit El Agave. Our fam loves the taco box- 12 tacos with our personal fave of 6 chicken and 6 shredded beef. There are other meat choices. The taco box comes with the fixings- shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese. The salsa is moderately spicy and flavorful. Top your taco with the salsa and a drizzle of the homemade avocado sauce- lip smacking good. The shells are my quality measure- they must be fresh made corn tortillas- cook to a crisp- not soggy. El Agave delivers. Great price; great customer service. Orders are generally ready within 15 mins.

Tucked away in a very unsuspecting location, this gem of a restaurant is truly one of the BEST Mexican restaurants in the Albuquerque/Rio Ranch area!!!Everything is homemade, fresh and flavorful. They have both authentic Mexican and New Mexican menu items and the service is always warm and friendly. This family business is phenomenal and we have never had a bad experience in the years we've been eating here. It's a must try spot!

My fiancé and I saw this place one day and said let's try it. So we did and we were definitely very satisfied and impressed. We will be going again soon to show the rest of the family what this place is about. The food was delicious and the prices were fair and reasonable and the service was fast, also the customer service was excellent! 5 star and more!!!

The restaurant is a bright, well lit, happy place. Our only objection is the sound carries so loud inside and it's difficult to have conversation with others at our table. We arrived on a Friday evening around 4:30 p.m. to beat the rush, which did arrive about 45-minutes later. The food was served very fast, too fast, because the cheese inside my enchiladas wasn't even melted. Had to send it back to the kitchen. The hot chips and salsa was great. I'm from California and miss having real Mexican food or at least the style and type offered in Southern Calif [N. Calif too] which is different than in FL. The sauces here tend to be heavier and less flavor. Not sure we will go back, maybe give it one more try earlier in the day before it gets real busy. Still, the kitchen should be able to tell if the cheese is melted in the order. The restaurant is clean, service fast.

Family ran and authentic. We came from SoCal and they are the closest I've come to the food back home.
