Floors by the Shore

Had a great feeling about this company within minutes of the owner, Adam, coming to give us an estimate. He is a great guy, both personally and professionally, and talked over everything in detail with us (as well as other aspects of our home). After considering three other contractors, our gut kept telling us to choose Floors by the Shore. Beyond glad that we did.

The crew ripped up and disposed of the existing carpeting in the entire upstairs of our new home and installed new hardwood floors throughout. They also revamped our entire staircase (replaced all of the pine treads with oak, the railings, bannisters, and newel posts) -- and did a fantastic job sanding and staining to match the floors we selected. The entire crew was courteous, clean, and conscientious, and quickly brought to our attention any potential issues or new decision points. At some point in the near future, we hope to have the budget to also put matching hardwood throughout the downstairs and Floors by the Shore would certainly be our first call.

TL;DR: Professional, competitive price, good communication, quick install, great final product, and they offer Woca oil finish.

We moved into a house that needed to have the old hardwood floors redone, and wanted to add matching hardwood seamlessly into the bedrooms with carpet (and only plywood underneath). We were referred to these guys by a friend who had used them a few times before for different projects. Adam (the owner of Carpet and Flooring Connoisseurs) come out and measured, and showed us a bunch of samples of different finishes, gave us a quote that was very close to the other 3 quotes we received, but between the online reviews, the recommendation from our friend, and finally the option for the natural Woca oil finish (the other quotes were for poly only), we went with Adam. (As far as I understand, Woca is basically a natural wood hardener which isn't as shiny as poly, and actually seals into the wood instead of sitting on top of it - google Woca for more info)

They delivered the wood upon deposit, and after it acclimated to our home for a few days, they did the following: Sanded the old floors down, replaced part of the hallway where the old floor had some damage, fixed a big water stain in a main room, tore up the old subfloor top layer and added new hardwood to the 3 bedrooms, and did the Woca oil finish. From the start of the work (not counting delivery and acclimation of wood) they started on a Monday and were out by Thursday night. (Then there were 2 additional days we waited for the finish to set before we could walk on it - didn't want to ruin it!)

The final product is beautiful, and you can't even tell where the old floor ends and the new begins. The Woca finish feels a lot different than poly - imagine how a freshly sanded butcher block feels, it's really soft on our feet. See pictures attached here as well.

Adam was great, they worked with us on scheduling and returned emails and calls quickly, his crew was totally professional (and super fast), and we would honestly recommend these guys to anyone.

Adam and the Floors by the Shore team are wonderful. I originally set up an appointment for an estimate to clean my hardwood floors, tile and carpet and when Adam came by he opened up a whole variety of options that I did not think were possible based on previous information I had been given from other flooring "experts". I ended up sanding and staining my hardwood floors - which I originally wanted to do but was told it was not possible - and it came out amazing!!!! It completely transformed the feel of my 1st floor and really added the finishing touch to my renovation project. I also had his team clean our tiles and carpet and everything came out spotless. They truly are flooring experts who will guide you to find the solutions that is best for you and your home!

Just had our second floor installed by them and extremely happy with the results. This company is professional, quick with their service and really work hard to make sure you are happy. Lots of selection to choose from. Never a problem with scheduling. On time. Would use them again and recommend.

If you are looking for a company that does GREAT quality work and are reliable...Floors by the Shore is the one to hire.

Adam and his entire team are professional, reliable and deliver beautiful floors! We moved into a 24 year old home that needed hardwood floors repaired, stairs replaced, sanding, along with carpet removal/carpet replaced---and the end result was incredible. I trusted Adam as he carefully guided us on hardwood selections and gave his expertise. One big point of difference with Adam and his entire team over others is that "they care". They want to make sure their customers are happy and pleased. An example--On July 10th with a major storm, we were moving in to our house and Adam offered up to help my husband to cover the floors so they would not be potentially harmed by the movers and rain. We really appreciated his thoughtfulness and going over the top to ensure the floors would not be damaged.
Lastly, Floors by the Shore completed all of the floors on time with a super tight deadline. I highly recommend Floors by the Shore and look forward to doing our Phase 2 work with Adam and team.
