Fowler's is built for families. Their dining space is no-nonsense, and when you bite into that first juicy & tender pork rib, you can taste the love that has gone into it.
Their ordering process is nice and simple. We walked in on a Saturday to order a couple 2-Meat combos to-go, and were in and out within 10 minutes. The daily specials and sides are displayed on a chalkboard by the cafeteria counter, but they also post their specials on Instagram (I still need to try their smothered oxtail).
The owners are extremely nice, and they are serious about their food! As I mentioned earlier, the pork ribs were perfect and we enjoyed every bite. But in a plot twist, it was the sausage that blew our minds. We order sausage at every BBQ place we visit, and somehow the sausage here is head and shoulders above the rest in melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. I don't know how they do that. Fowler's is definitely worth consideration in your regular restaurant rotation, especially if you live close by in the Mueller & East Austin areas.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

We just got home with full bellies from Fowler's. The ribs are delicious and lean. The chicken was so moist and tasty. The potato salad is definitely home made and had excellent flavor. Yvonne greeted us enthusiastically and immediately made us feel right at home. Saturday is bbq only. We will definitely be returning on a Sunday for chicken and dumplings. On Sunday too they offer a bigger variety of veggie options.
The place is clean and parking is plentiful. Only open Friday through Sunday. Make time soon to get over there and feed your face!
(Their napkins are too flimsy for eating ribs and chicken so I suggest you take a few paper towels from home when you go.)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Russell!! Thank you so much for dining with us, we hope to see you again soon! PS, don’t bring paper towels from home, we’re upgrading our napkins to be more rib & chicken eating friendly! ;)

I'd actually give a 4.5 star rating due to some unfortunately dry brisket the day I visited, but decided to round-up for the fabulous homemade sausage, sides, and outstanding, friendly service from the husband-and-wife owners. They are terrific and will answer all the questions you could possibly have. They definitely aim to please, and I will be back the next time I'm in the area. I wholeheartedly recommend this local, mom-and-pop establishment whose efforts show through all of the homemade items found on their menu. Make sure and also check out their daily, weekly, and monthly specials!

I've been searching for some good soul and Fowler's is the real deal. It's ran by two very kind souls. I doesn't look like much but the food is flavorful. I know it's legit if the greens are good...and they are very good here!! I wish I would've ordered more. They aren't open everyday so I would check before going. On Friday's they do a Fried Fridays menu as well. If you go please get the brisket, greens, and green beans!!!!

Food is excellent. Little pricey for the amount give, but it was delicious. Went back to get more and was sad to see they were closed.

Small family owned bbq, 2nd time here and wanted to give a shout out so they stay in business.
Had the bbq last time (chicken and ribs) yummy!!!
This time we came on a Friday and was able to get the fried fish and my girl got the pork chop.
Owner was so sweet he handed out flowers for the ladies since it was valentine day.
Those reading stop on by and give them a try. The business sign is a little small so look for it carefully.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tope E.Austin, TX1207391Aug 3, 2019
I have passed this place so many times without even knowing it was there. It can be hard to miss but should be one of your go to places. The BBQ is incredible and more affordable than the others in town. I chowed down on a large plate of gumbo that literally blessed my soul. According to staff, the cook puts a whole chicken in the pot!!
What bring some extra love into this place is the fact that it is family owned and run. You will see Yvonne up front and her family helping out also. This is the only place I know where Kool-aid is a beverage option and it was just what the body wanted. Sundays are apparently the best time to eat there as they their sides double and they have special menus. This might be my new favorite place!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Wonderful restaurant and excellent customer service. The woman who answered the phone was very polite and thoroughly went through the entire menu so I could make an informed decision. I ended up ordering the smothered oxtail and was blown away. The portion is very filling and a great value! I was also impressed with their COVID protocols - the place was spotless and everyone was wearing masks. There is also plenty of parking. Definitely worth driving by for a full and delicious plate of food!

If you're looking for some REAL FOOD FOR THE SOUL, you found it. Super delicious, satisfying and beautiful people serving it.
This is a family owned business and you can tell it was made with love because it tasted like an amazing home cooked meal.
We are visiting from Cali and wanted to support a black owned business and came across Fowler's.
I'm so glad we did, because we had a great experience overall. The family was not only friendly but super attentive. Highly recommend this placeHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

If you haven't been to Fowler's Smokin Soul Food yet you're missing out on some amazing eats. Delicious food in a friendly, clean and spacious restaurant. Open Fri/Sat/Sunday. On 5811 Manor between Wheless and Rogge, plenty of parking in their lot.
Today we both got the combo plates with tender and moist Brisket, meaty Ribs and juicy beef sausage. Menu varies slightly from Friday to Sunday and it's posted in advance on their website and their Facebook. Check out Fowler's Smokin Soul Food this weekend!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information
