Came here the other day while I was on break from a job near by. This Hot Topic upon walking in was one of the most well kept, clean and organized stores I've been too shopping at a large variety of their stores.
Great selection on shirts on sale, everything is organized well so your browsing experience can be quick and swift so you're not digging forever trying to find a certain shirt or article of clothing on sale. Picked up a couple things none the less. Definitely reccomend coming to this place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 15, 2017
Hot Topic is jammed full of adorable accessories, cute items and themed clothing. Know a Disney, Harry Potter or alternative music fan? You may find something here for them that's the PERFECT gift. I love all the cutesy little things in life and therefore I love Hot Topic. It's a very small store at Woodfield though and it's incredibly hard to navigate.
I like going to check things out, try things on, but end up feeling overwhelmed by the floor to ceiling, crammed into every inch of space options. I saw a lot of cute Disney things for my upcoming trip but ended up walking out empty handed, coming back to work and buying the things I wanted online. I think they had a bunch of sales going on, too, but there was just tooooo~ much going on to keep it straight.
All that being said, if you do start to sift through things, they have so much there that is awesome. It's known for being an emo store, but I don't think I'm emo and I like it. There is a dressing room in the back they can open for you to try on clothes.
As a Disney Geek, I really liked all of their Disney options. They have some super cute dresses if you're into Disney Bounding, too. When I popped in, the guy working was super friendly and super helpful. I'll definitely be back when I have more time to browse their plethora of items.Helpful 17Thanks 0Love this 24Oh no 0 - Jennifer R.Elmhurst, IL417Jun 29, 2022
they have changed a lot in the past 10 years but still have the same basic things. i wish the store was more open so it is easier to move around. Staff is real nice and helpful!!!

I am not going to lie. I go to Hot Topic for ME not my daughter. She would rather shop elsewhere albeit the fact that she is a musician and has a funky look. Although if HT were to carry some My Bloody Valentine or Lush gear I could probably lure her in without physically having to drag her or bribe her with a trip to a music store to look at hollow body guitars.
So... why do I love to go? Well I actually wore most of those fashions the first time around. Remember the 80's IN the 80's? I do. I was a teen ager then. So in Hot Topic, I see what they have, moan that I can't wear it anymore because I would look like a fool, pick up an AC/DC tee shirt, some accessories, hot pink dye for my daughters hair and leave.
And I love it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Katie H.Cary, IL13Sep 30, 2016
I shop here for myself quite often-but I'm not gonna lie, my mom sometimes gets herself a thing or two. The band merch is tøp notch, and makes me feel sad that I am so broke.
Part of the reason I am broke is how high the prices are. While the quality is great, the prices make my wallet more emo than a MCR fan listening to Welcome to the Black Parade.
I still love it though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Callie J.Arlington Heights, IL028Dec 17, 2018
Decent selection of lots of fun colorful merchandise, graphics tees, socks, dresses, and more. I also get really excited to see the anime/TV merchandise they put out, along with merchandise based on old favorites. They also have tons of nifty small things like pins and crazy candies.

I am officially old.
It has come to the point in my life that my own 3 year old is shopping Hot Topic. He literally runs towards the entrance as soon as he sees it. He refers to this store and Spencer's gifts as the Jack Skellington Store and it has become part of his imaginary town of all the things in life that he likes.
He received Nightmare before Christmas bedding, a garbage can, pillows, zipper pulls, t shirts, figurines, magnets, buttons and patches from this store. We were here last weekend, and I was irritated to find that all the items that he received were 75% off of the original price. He still found more Nightmare before Christmas things to be had.
What freaks me out is the fact that my own parents are willing to shop here to buy stuff for my son...when I was a teenager...they gave me absolutely no support in my weird fixations and fashion choices.
What bums me out is that I found out that they are discontinuing their kids' section. That sucks..I am sure that there are tons of parents like me who racked up huge sales in their store.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Kat A.Palatine, IL24790Oct 19, 2006First to Review
Because I like to dress in all black and write suicidal poetry in notebooks with fairies on them while jingling (see the chain holding the glitter plastic wallet?)
mmmm . . . youth . . .
on the occasions when I want to capture it?
I go to Hot Topic
and buy stickers
t-shirts
and poetry
i love that they have books of poetry
I aspire to be a poet with a book in Hot Topic and an omnipresent half peeled sticker labeling me too expensive for real alterna types, but just write for the wanna bes
i just want someone to shoplift me
that's really the ultimate compliment, right? and hot topic is so Damn shopliftable
but I digress
then again, isn't that kinda the point of Hot Topic?
in either case, 5 stars for this place because, well, I love itHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Renato P.Algonquin, IL7668953Jun 28, 2008Updated review
Yep , I'm officially a dinosaur. The Joker "Killing Joke" t-shirt I loved in high school is now officially retro and has been re-released at Hot Topic. Not a huge selection of shirts for big boys like me but I did score a cool Megadeth shirt in 2X. Why do I bother , I should just transition to Golf shirts and Paul Anka cds already , UGH.

Hot Topic is the endgame of the counterculture movement. At what point is the rebel a conformist , when there are as many "rebels as there are "conformists". I liked hot topic for the first 2 minutes I shopped here , I saw some cool skull wear and Metal shirts. They had a nice supply of cool looking skate shoes and Goth wear. Then I saw the prices , standard trendy mall prices. I'm a grown man , at my job for over a decade , and the teenaged kids shopping here all drove cars 3 times as expensive as mine. I used to wear Slayer shirts and biker boots because they lasted forever and were relatively inexpensive. When the alternative clothing costs as much as the mainstream , what makes it alternative?
