andoFeb 9, 2020Previous reviewMy boyfriend has been seeing the same guy for a haircut in Montreal for the last 20+ years. So when he needed a place in Toronto while visiting me before he headed on a business trip, I turned to Yelp.
Right away when we walked in, we were welcomed warmly by Anthony who offered to take our coats and offered us something to drink (I took an espresso). The place was very busy when we walked in, so glad we were able to make an appointment (recommended!) All the customers leaving looked satisfied (always a good sign) and the customers seated all looked like regulars (another great sign).
Akram listened as my boyfriend explained how he normally got his hair cut, then admitted that he's had the same cut for his entire life by the same guy. Akram then gave his professional two cents (which I didn't hear) and my boyfriend agreed to it. Strictly as an outside observer, Akram, and all the other barbers here, seemed to be extremely meticulous.
What a treat to watch people who love their jobs do their job well.
Boyfriend's take: great service, courteous, professional and happy with the cut! Would absolutely come back!

It was the best haircut I've ever gotten. The service was awesome. They treated me like a gentleman and felt pampered as a man lol. Don't remember the name of the barber but he was quite new and I left a sizeable tip. He really took his time and did a great job. It wasn't rushed at all even though there was a line behind me. Will definitely be returning.

amir, thank you for giving us the opportunity. I'm curious, if you will, how you came to the conclusion that I am a nice guy? They say it takes one to know one. You made an appointment and came in to get your haircut. If you felt your haircut was so 'terrible' and 'the worst hair cut...ever' why then, would you pay for it and leave a tip? Why would you not come to me and express your dissatisfaction? Afterall, you did feel I was a nice guy, would you not want to help a nice guy out by being honest with him? Or maybe, your motives were not as forthright or sincere as you would like us all to believe? Perhaps, your intention was never to really come in for a genuine experience with us, but just a 'hit and run' opportunity to give us a bogus and fraudulent review. When I reached out to you by email with concern about your experience, you did not reply.
Looking at the history of your reviews, I see you've left quite a few one-star ratings. I'm beginning to wonder how much of a 'nice guy' you are amir...
Augmented Thursday, March 7th after you posted the picture of your forehead:
I'm not sure what line of work you're in, but I hope it's not law. Your clients would be poorly represented and I mean that sincerely. If the picture you posted (after I responded to your initial and ridiculous attempt to make us look and sound bad) is supposed to represent some sort of evidence of our work, you are failing again.
It's pathetically obvious that you are insecure and in dire need of attention (most likely because you're not getting enough from mom and dad and probably of the female nature, regardless of what kind of hair you're sporting).
What's also obvious is that my initial feeling of you having an agenda has been confirmed by your simple act of posting the photo of your real estate. I acted in good faith by trying to reach out to you discreetly and privately because I was concerned that your negative experience was a legitimate one, but you've proven you have an alterior motive by your actions.

My regular barber he moved out of town and I had to find another place to get my hair cut. I went to some random spot and they messed up my hair. I came here because of good reviews. I was a walk in and had to wait about 30 mins on Sunday afternoon. It was fine. There are lots of neat things to stare at in the place and they serve you tea, coffee and water.
In the luck of the draw I got Denis to cut my hair. I explained to him how I wanted my hair and showed him what was messed up by previous person. He acknowledged it showed me what we could do and gave me a couple of styling options.

It's a manly barbershop with high testosterone clientele but that doesn't stop Ando and his team to treat you very kind and friendly. Personally although I came from a totally different world but after a few minutes I felt I know these guys forever. Ando offered me an espresso which tasted great and I realized that my host is Italian ( no other nation can make such a wonderful espresso)
I went as walk-in on one of the busiest hours in the week but they managed the clients very efficiently so I wasn't feeling bored or alone. There are a pile of weired but good books that can take your mind to another part of the world while you wait.
But let's be honest.... Coffee, nice and friendly gestures, books... You can find them more or less somewhere else...
The core competency of ibarbieri is their barbers. I went there having no clue about my hairstyle. Ando looked at me, and DESIGNED a hairstyle based on my age, ethnicity, job, etc. It's unique to ME. It's not just somewhere to your hair. It's a place where you can match your hairstyle with your personality.
Oh, last but not least...that was worthed hundreds of dollars, but they charged me just $25. It's too good to be true but ... It's true
