Okay, if you are anything like me, you are here on Yelp reading reviews mostly because you are suffering from severe anxiety about getting oral surgery. I know I was a frequent visitor on this yelp page, and also reading strangers' accounts about their wisdom tooth removal experience ad nauseam. So this will be a two-part review -- one about how wonderful Dr. Lew and his staff are, and two basically the experience I had and hopefully, it can help YOU dear reader alleviate a bit of your anxiety.

I had an amazing experience. Echoing every review here, the staff was so caring and empathetic. And that MATTERS A LOT. Liz was wonderful, the nurse/ medical assistant that was with me was so caring and amazing (stupid me can't remember her name right now). It was a little weird because of covid. My consultation was over a zoom... which wasn't the worst thing in the world but of course in the back of my mind I'm like, "without looking at the teeth, does it REALLY need to come out". My wisdom teeth had grown in without much drama, but over the years, the upper teeth have gotten some decay on them because it's REALLY DIFFICULT to clean them. I'd been getting headaches for years, because when they became inflamed, they would hurt my sinus and then BOOM a migraine to ruin my day or even WEEK. My dentist (Dr. Ellis Wong who is great!!) recommended they come out (which made my heart stop), and recommend Dr. Lew. And I'm grateful for the recommendation!

After the procedure, I was not in any pain at all. No swelling. My left side of my mouth doesn't even feel like the tooth came out yesterday!! Dr. Lew is a master at this, and my results show!! My insurance was out of network but his office is doing an amazing job at dealing with my insurance and getting some payment out of them. I did have to pay upfront and I'm fortunate enough to have had some savings. It wasn't like super-duper expensive out of pocket but it was a chunk of change. Honestly, it was worth every penny, this is something you don't want to skimp on if you can help it.

Come here for your oral surgeon needs, you won't regret it!!!! I would give 6, 7, 8, 10 stars if I could!!!!!

Okay the review portion is complete, now for my nervous nellies, continue to read.

So, I was a nervous wreck. I've never gone under anesthesia before in my life. I have INTENSE anxiety, especially when it comes to anything medical. I had some medical drama when I was 3 so I guess that has really imprinted on me as an adult. I wasn't so nervous about the teeth coming out as I was about the anesthesia. Fear of not being in control and the unknown.

I was so scared, I cried the night before just so you know where I stood.
The nurse/medical assistant that helped me was a literal angel. When I went into the room, I told her I was nervous, and she offered to hold my hand if I needed it. There were two other anesthesiologists in the room and I could see they had serious equipment and weren't just 'randomly injecting me' (idk what I was thinking, like a tranq dart to the neck or something?? LOL). Seeing all the equipment really helped take my anxiety down a few notches (as funny as that sounds).

I was brave, got on the chair, and finally met Dr. Lew in person. So professional, nice, but like you could just tell he knew his shit but somehow was so respectful at the same time!! I'm in awe, haha. He explained everything that was going to happen. They gave me the IV and sprayed it with some cold spray and I didn't even feel it go in my arm.

sidenote--- I had a freaking IV IN MY ARM for like 30+ mins and I HAVE NO BRUISING. I just got my blood drawn a few weeks ago, and the person at my drs office wasn't gentle with me and I had massive bruising for 2 weeks from a simple blood draw, but again, in AWE, I bruise easily. That means they really took care and were gentle with me.

The first stuff in the IV was some 'anti-swelling medicine. Honestly no clue what it was, I was still feeling nervous because it wasn't the anesthesia stuff. But I barely swelled so I guess it did its job!!

Dr Lew stepped out for a moment and came back in a helmet (maybe covid protection). He then told me he was going to give me a small dose of the anesthesia stuff and asked me to describe how it felt. Honestly, this technique was GENIOUS. I've been told by friends that they usually have you count... but feels a little out of your control. (felt like a STRONG AF edible!!! lol) When I explained to him how I felt, I felt like I had some agency. Then I remember laughing at the fact his helmet reminded me of an Among Us character, and then the next moment I was in a wheelchair being wheeled out. (which I thought was amazing since I was still high) I gave the nurse a hug, I was so grateful for her kindness. And that was it!! if you are reading this, got this! xoxoxo

One last thing, I've literally just been on basic Motrin, the pain is min, and way less pain than the headaches they gave me in the past

I had been putting off my severely impacted wisdom teeth extraction until the age of 41. I haven't had a surgery before, even as minor as these are supposed to be, so I was definitely a bit freaked out over it. I also don't have any dental insurance and the cost of these procedures were a bit of a deterrent as well. Earlier this year, I encountered severe pain from a molar next to one of my wisdom teeth becoming infected due to me being unable to properly clean my molars because of those wisdom teeth. That molar actually became mobile causing me to be unable to chew on that side at all.

I went to my cousin, who is a dentist, and he referred me to Dr. Kevin Lew. My cousin said that there were other places I could go that would be cheaper, but if I wanted the procedure done by someone very skilled and that would do a top notch job, I should go to Dr. Lew. Needless to say, being worried about the procedure already, I took my cousins advice and went to the place he felt would do the best job for me.

I had to have an initial consultation where I was asked many questions and also had x-rays taken. The entire thing was very thorough and informational. Dr. Lew and his entire staff were very friendly and took the time to explain everything to me. They were already making me feel better about choosing to have my procedure there.

During the lead up to the surgery, Heather, the surgery coordinator kept in touch with me to guide me on the things I needed to do to prepare for the operation in advance.

The morning of the operation and I am now pretty anxious and nervous. The two ladies assisting with the operation were great and really made me feel more at ease. They got me all set up in the chair and ready for IV Sedation. If you are nervous about having your wisdom teeth procedure, IV Sedation helps greatly! Dr. Lew kept the mood light by cracking a few jokes here and here and explaining everything that was going on while he was inserting the IV. Once the sedative hit, I basically entered a dream like state where I basically had an idea of what was going on but not really present for it. The operation lasted about an hour I believe but to me, it felt like 30 seconds maybe. I don't remember most of it, except for like me mumbling something to Dr. Lew for those 30 seconds and I don't remember what it was about. My next memory is getting into the car and then blanked out again and then remember being in bed.

It's been about 7 hours now since I have had the procedure done and I took some advil right when I first came home and another does 2 hours ago. I was prescribed a stronger pain killer from Dr. Lews office but I havent needed it yet and am actually surprised how little pain I am feeling. I don't have any other explanation for that other than Dr. Lew being highly skilled and leaving the smallest amount of damage possible behind during my surgery. Now I just need to do my part to avoid the dreaded "dry socket"

If I had to do his procedure all over again, I would feel completely at ease now knowing how it went. The hardest part is actually sitting here right now smelling the delicious food being cooked up at home but knowing I won't be able to eat any of it for a few days.

Thank you Dr. Lew and your staff for taking great care of me!

Dr. Lew and his staff are so incredibly deserving of a 5-star review that 5 stars don't even seem like enough! Right from the beginning I was greeted with a smile and TREATED LIKE I WAS VERY IMPORTANT. This mattered a lot to me after going to a couple of different dentists who were treating my mouth like a sales room floor.
Dr. Lew calmly and thoroughly explained everything that he was doing during my inital scan and exam. After setting the date for my wisdom teeth extraction, he discussed how the entire procedure was going to go, including anesthesia, and eliminated any nerves I had about this surgery. After having my procedure, Dr. Lew and his staff even reached out and called to see if I was feeling OK!
8 days after having my bottom two wisdom teeth removed and I am healing like a pro!
Thank you Dr. Lew and team!

WOW. Kevin Lew and his team are just wonderful. They hit it on the dot when it comes to professionalism, thoroughness and charisma and that is what I look for in a practice.

Background: I made an appointment for a date later in June but I told them of my situation ( possible infection of the wisdom tooth and swelling in the throat and gums) and they told me they would call me when the first cancellation would occur. I got in today.

      Walkthrough:

I was greeted by the receptionist who was so lovely and walked me through the first time patient paperwork. Then I was taken in the back almost immediately to get a panorama x-ray of my teeth. Then I went into another room to speak to the doctor and the dental associate.

Kevin Lew walks you step by step on what is going on with your teeth. He explains with visuals of my situation and the next steps.

From there Linda the financial manager explains in the most simple but thorough manner of what the total procedure will cost + what the insurance will cover + what the patient is responsible for. This for me was hands downs excellent service. I hate it when I go to an office and they don't explain your payments or give you a very detailed but confusing sheet. So this was a nice surprise.

Once I get the OK from my doctor I wil be going in fo rmy surgery and will have an update post operation :)

Well, the most fearful, painful, apprehensive part of going to have some teeth pulled was the journey in the Uber to Dr Lew. No coffee, no breakfast and my imagination running riot having had to wait six months due to high blood pressure issues delayed my final appointment. So I arrived at his bright and cheery office a bit of a gibbering idiot. However within minutes his wonderful staff and reception had me feeling calmer and after a couple of signatures and not the usual biography and last will sat down to wait for my appointment because in my excitement to get there I had arrived terribly early. I also had to wait for my daughter to arrive who was to drive my inert body home.
Into the surgery I go, the doctors nurse very cheery followed by the Doctor. Doctor Lew is young, very fit looking cheery, humorous explains every last detail in a no nonsense effortless manner. I was to have an IV that he ASSURED me I would feel the needle entering and then slowly fade away (hopefully temporarily) and in a flash be back in the land of the living. The nurse springs on me suddenly with a 'freeze spray' now I haven't seen one of these since a couple of my kids have had surgery in the passed and nurses used them to freeze areas being punctured by needles. They are wonderful and sure enough I couldn't feel any needles going in anywhere..
I have blood tests a lot (no freeze sprays) and usually the nurses involved say, "you haven't drunk enough water to inflate your veins." Or "Your veins are so tiny we will have to send you UPSTAIRS....." This turns my stomach to ice of course as I wend my way UPSTAIRS to a deserted green room that looks like something from a Hammer horror hospital set. A large chair that looks to be used as an execution facility out of office hours sits in the middle of the room and a small balding pebble glassed person jumps up surprised whilst reading a true detective mag. I'm strapped in and the small person starts chatting and preparing bottles and syringes. The small person is of course some sort of magician and I say "Is this going to hurt?" The person says "Oh its all finished, sign here..." As they take away about an armful of blood in small jars. Extraordinary...
Anyway I come around from my 4 tooth extractions, there were supposed to be 3 but a wisdom tooth made a rude appearance, not only that my poor old teeth had fallen apart as the Doc had begun to remove them making a dentists job harder and increasing my visit by an hour and a half. Dr Lew explained the gums would bleed but my mouth was full of gauze and bleeding was ceasing as the minutes went by (we are not talking a lot here) and I was to take the pills I had been prescribed along with a mouthwash once home. The point here is I was shocked at not just a lack of pain but I couldn't feel anything and needed to have a gentle feel around to make sure the old gnashers had actually vacated the premises.
Once home I was parked on the sofa by the darling daughter feeling a trifle gaga (but I am 68) so nothing new and decide to spend the afternoon with a painkiller (well they had been prescribed after all) watching NARCOS. Five episodes later the bleeding and gauze changing stopped, again we're not talking a lot here, but above all NO PAIN. I'm not talking uncomfortable, throbbing, twinges....NOTHING. In spite of some brilliant acting and gory descriptions and insisting on viewing the damage, my wife could sense straight away I was in no agony at all so the sympathy knob was turned right down of course and I spent the evening as if nothing had happened convinced I would wake up in the night screaming. I had another pill (well there is a whole bottle of them..) after using the pleasant mouthwash and baby toothbrush I had been given and retired. I slept like a baby to wake, painless, and as if nothing had occurred. I won't bang on any more but I have had more painful visits to the barber and I have had teeth cleanings that have sent me through the roof so to have had a dentist visit such as this blows my mind. I have since had a lenghty call from the doctor to check on my condition and will be going back in a week for a check up..I cannot recommend Doctor Lew and his team enough..I am wondering if he could do my taxes..

I was referred to Dr Lew by my endodontist. I had a bad tooth, which the endodontist did not feel he could save. So he recommended that I have the tooth removed and referred me to Dr Lew to perform the procedure.

I concur with the other 5 star reviews on Dr Kevin Lew and his staff. From the first phone call to Dr Lew's office, to the consultation, and then throughout the procedure, I found Dr Lew and his staff to be professional, helpful, and compassionate. Throughout the entire process, I felt like I was in good hands and could trust this doctor. That is important when someone is putting you under anesthesia.

I was particularly impressed with the consultation. First, Dr Lew was on time. A few minutes after I arrived, I was taken into the exam room with one of Dr Lew's assistants. I told the assistant I would read until the doctor came in to see me. The assistant told me that they would be with me from that point forward, so that I would not have time to read.

Dr Lew came into the room shortly thereafter. There was a blown up picture of the X-ray of my tooth on his wall, and the other teeth next to the bad tooth. Dr Lew explained the X-ray and showed me the root canal and crown on my tooth.

Dr Lew did a through exam of my mouth and my gums, and the area surrounding the tooth. He even examined under my tongue and my neck area. He said the tooth was very fragil and that the gums surrounding the bad tooth, bleed easily when he probed the area. Therefore, he recommended that I have the procedure done under general, rather than local anesthesia. He was also concerned about my comfort level during the procedure.

Once he decided that the procedure should be done under general anesthesia, he looked at my arm to locate good blood vessels. Then he instructed his assistant to write, in the chart, which blood vessels he would use to administer the anesthesia, and to place the IV.

I was SO impressed with his care and how thorough he was during the consultation. He spent at least one half hour with me during the consultation. I never once felt rushed.

I booked my procedure after the consultation. Several days prior to the day for which the procedure was scheduled, Linda, the woman who works at the front desk, phoned me to explain what to wear on the day of the procedure, when to begin fasting the night before, and other general preparatory information. She was very detailed. She even explained that I should not wear dark nail polish or contact lenses to the procedure. I was impressed with the level of detail and care that Linda displayed.

I had the procedure done about 5 days ago. I am still experiencing a fair amount of pain. Dr Lew and his staff told me to contact them if I had any questions or concerns. I am scheduled for my follow up visit this coming Tuesday, which will be 8 days post procedure.

Overall, I am glad that I went to Dr Lew for this procedure. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is a highly skilled and consummate professional. He and his staff displayed a very high standard of care. Throughout the entire process, I felt confident that I was in good hands.

I came to Dr. Lew for a second opinion on my wisdom teeth. My first oral surgeon, who was recommended by my dentist, was short with me, wanted to pull two wisdom teeth under local anesthetic, then wait 4 weeks and pull the other two. Because of a lack of detail and explanation, a clerical error where they almost doubled my original quote, and my discomfort with the idea of being awake for the removal of my very impacted wisdom teeth, I found Dr. Lew through Yelp.

These reviews did not disappoint! I had all four wisdom teeth out under general anesthetic and have almost no pain 6 days later. As others have mentioned, Dr. Lew called me (on a Saturday evening) to make sure I was feeling okay.

Everything from the consultation to the surgery itself was SUPER transparent and professional. I felt in great hands. I was also really thankful for the staff (I believe Joanna) recommending I wait until 2017 for insurance purposes -- this saved me almost $400. I paid exactly what I was quoted, which I feel was really affordable.

My only tip is to call the office or wait until the day of your surgery to pick up your meds. I picked up all 4 of the prescriptions he called in, but arrived on the day of and he said I may not need one of them. Either way, not a big deal. Dr. Lew and team are fantastic!

Who gives any surgeon five stars???

I had four bony, impacted wisdom teeth and was suffering for months in pain. I went on yelp to find Dr. Lew and was a bit nervous because there were only 5 reviews, but they were all 5 star. Hmm. It certainly peaked my interest and frankly, at that point I'd had it with the pain. I had to throw in my fear towel and make the appointment. The thought of surgery in my 30's freaked me out because thankfully I haven't needed any.

I made an appointment for the consult and the receptionist handled me with care and made me feel at ease. The following week I met with Dr. Lew, he has such a cool and informative demeanor which can also easy your fear. In the consult Dr. Lew went over x-rays, explained everything to me in thorough detail, gave me a print out of what to expect, told me complication possibilities and the like.

We booked the surgery for 2 weeks out in Jan. A week before he called in the prescriptions to my closest drug store so I wouldn't have to bother with it after surgery.

Surgery day: Scared to death of being put under, he had me laughing and then I was out. I woke up in a wheel chair and next my best friend drove me back to her house and I passed out. That first day was super duper hazy, but I kept being awakened to have my gauze removed, ice pack changed, take my Motrin and antibiotics. I ended up not even needing the real pain killer! YESSSS! I was so happy it was over and I was in less pain than I was when I started.

I've had all of my post surgery check ups and I've made it!!! I am so grateful I was put in Dr. Lew's hands because with all of the complications that could've happened with me being at moderate risk. I would recommend this Dr. Lew and staff to all.

I don't have insurance and that wasn't special enough to receive a serious discount! hahaha.

So what I'm saying is basically, it's worth every penny, arm and leg!

Where do I begin. My daughters had their wisdom teeth extracted a YEAR ago. When I went to the consultation I was told my out of pocket expense with be minimal. To my surprise 3 days prior to the appointment I received a phone call to confirm their appointment and to tell me my copayment was over $3,000.00. I knew I should have canceled at that point, but I also knew that Dr. Lew had scheduled them back to back. I went ahead and kept the appointment. I paid over $3,000.00. I thought that was the end of it. A YEAR later my husband gets a phone call from Linda saying I am going to be sent to collections over $76.00. I am very disappointed in their communication. Linda is rude and inconsiderate. I will never again refer any patient to this office.
