Hands down the best burrito in SF. I tell every visitor I know to make a stop here and order the famous super burrito (Dorado style of course).

They are pumping out orders nonstop so don't be deterred if the line looks long! Grab a little table inside (this is the move because then your food is piping hot and you can add their amazing salsa to every bite) or grab your food to go and head to the park!

Iconic burrito in a timeless part of the Mission. Prices are slightly elevated and optionality is a little weak. Ordering process is pretty streamlined which I can appreciate for a place like this. I recommend the super burrito, but they do put a lot of sour cream so be warned. I wish they had different types of salsa, like most taquerias and escabeches would be even better. Highly recommended for those visiting from out of town who want to experience an uncontroversially good burrito; everything is made to order so it's guaranteed to be fresh.

But if you ask me, is this the best burrito in SF? Id say probably not. Why not? The burrito lacks rice which is a plus for many but it also lacks a unique flavor profile. The spice, charring of the meat and overall wow factor is limited. That being said this place won a James beard award sometime ago and the atmosphere gives me cool 80s/90s vibes. But hey where are the free chips? The overall experience feels a little value engineered.

As a Bay Area girl born and raised, I've heard mixed things about La Taqueria. Yet, I've always had it in my mind to try. After a day at the beach, my companion suggested we grab lunch at La Taqueria since I'd never been.

We came on a Sunday, Cinco de Mayo, at peak lunch hours. To our surprise, there was a short line, and we were able to find a table! Lines and wait times can vary. The restaurant is relatively clean and it's nice there's a handful of tables available. The process as of 2024 is to order outside, pay inside, take it to-go, or find a spot yourself to sit. The workers try their best at efficient turn-around and we got our burritos quickly.

So, my mistake was not ordering it Dorado style, which I now want to go back to try! I had a Carnitas Regular Burrito and added Avocado. Honestly, the burrito was underwhelming. The carnitas was juicier but the fact there was no rice in the burrito made me feel like they could've packed it more with ingredients. The avocado was fresh and creamy but again, I felt like it was skimped. The salsa provided was spicy and paired well. My companion had a Lengua Super Burrito. We both were satisfied but thought the flavors were lacking and preferred other spots.

Many come to the Mission District for Mexican food. La Taqueria is boasted highly of, but in my opinion it was quite average. You can find them off Mission Street with limited parking and a line out the door. If I do come back it'll be to try their burrito dorado style!

Did take out and got the carne asada super burrito. One of the best I've had! Flavorful, real grilled chunks of steak, juices from the streak leaked out of the burrito and it was a beautiful mess. Plenty of pico, sour cream (the real kind that actually tastes sour) and authentic thick and delicious guacamole.

Minor complaints was that I saw there was a grilled tortilla on Yelp but my burrito wasn't grilled and it was regular burrito size not super sized. But that's okay this place is my favorite Mexican now!

Carne asada burrito with beans plus a small coke was the perfect fix! While riceless, the bite was big and packed with flavor (especially with the spicy salsa that comes on the side). The steak was smoky juicy goodness and the tortilla was solid.

They accept card/apple pay but encourage cash if I remember correctly. Very much a no-nonsense type of burrito that's a tried and true classic (with a like to prove it)!

Bummer that this place is a bit of a hike to Dolores park!

La Taqueria is probably one of my favorite Mexican places in the area. I've been here since I was in middle/high school, and it never failed to impress me each time.

The line does get long but it runs pretty quickly. So you order your food and you'll probably get it in no more than 20 minutes I'd say? We ended up getting a couple orders. The pollo/lengua burrito El Dorado Style, the Carne Asada Taco, as well as the Carne Asada Burrito El Dorado Style. When you order your taco, you also gotta order it a "super" one because you definitely want that extra pico de gallo and guac... It wouldn't make any sense not to do that.

I just love that their burrito has so much juice and flavor. The El Dorado Style is basically the burrito that's pan fried on both sides, so it has that extra layer of crunch and giving it that golden look. The chicken was moist and tender, flavorful too, and the lengua had such a nice texture to it. And overall, it was a great burrito that didn't even feel that heavy at all. It was also void of rice, so it doesn't look hefty. But man did they amp up the flavor of it though. The "super" taco was a treat too.

I love this place and I always enjoyed coming here since I was a kid. The burritos here just hit so much differently compared to any other place I've ever tried and I'm a happy camper because of it.

Going into less wants and less worries mode this month. La Taqueria was one of my February stops before I start slowing down of my foodie excursions for the time being.

La Taqueria is located in the heart of Mission and serves up delicious and affordable tacos. I went for the carne asada and the carnitas. Both meats were super tender. Both tacos came with a generous amount of fresh salsa, beans, and meat (note that it's extra cost for cheese and/or guacamole). The tacos are BIG! I thought the seasoning for the carne asada was more satisfying. Took two to-go to share with family.

They offer indoor seating to those dining in. Beware, the floors are a little slippery. Service was fine. Oh and there's a credit card usage fee.

I've been wanting to try this place for some time now. We decided to order ahead and eat at home since it was cold and rainy.

I'm sooo glad that we called to ordered ahead. The line to order was crazy long!

The menu on the website connected to their Yelp account is incorrect which was thoroughly annoying. I wanted something that was on that menu that they actually didn't make. Wish they will update the website or link or just remove it completely.

Ended up ordering 2 super burritos with carnitas. We heard they had the best carnitas here so had to try it.

The carnitas were good. The super burritos were soggy. They also don't come with rice which to me wasn't a big problem since it's less carbs but something to keep in mind if that's one of your favorite ingredients in a burrito. Overall, I thought my burrito was too much on the soggy side and the carnitas was good but not something I'd rave about. Was expecting a crispy carnitas but everything was just soggy all around.

I was kinda shocked by how small the inside was considering I always see a pack of people outside - but I guess that makes sense. Lol!

There was a mariachi playing that night so that sets the mood a bit for a weekend dinner.

They didn't have a kids menu like the incorrect website linked to the Yelp did so we just ordered a regular chicken quesadilla for our little guy.

The chicken quesadilla was nice a crisp on the outside and it tasted good. My son was enjoying his food UNTIL...He comes over to me and picks out a 1 inch long skinny chicken bone from his mouth he ate from the quesadilla. That was quite frustrating as he could've choked on this! I had to be extra careful and shred the (already shredded) chicken some more but at that point my son was over it and didn't want to eat anymore. *sigh*

My husband thoroughly enjoyed the super burrito though so a win there. But the wrong website link with wrong menu and the chicken bone in the quesadilla just really disappointed me.

Miiighhtt try again if my husband wants to eat here or someone wants to try it out but order a different meat but nothing I'm going to be running over or dreaming about anytime soon.

Inch long skinny bone in shredded chicken quesadilla. Something to watch out for if feeding to kids.

What more can be said about the food here? The tacos dorados are full of flavor, texture, and cheesy goodness!
Plus, they certainly do not skimp on meat! I did ask for extra carnitas, but I was not expecting the amount they gave me per taco!

These are hands down the best tacos dorados !

Of course, I added some Abuela's Sweetheat Chili Crunch to each bite and OMG!!! Flavor overload!

Be advised that they regularly have a line to order. You order with the person at the little kiosk, specify for dine-in or to go. If dining in, expect to wait for an open table.
Thankfully, I didn't have to wait too long for a table when I got my food.

Speaking of which, keep the little paper with your number on it and listen carefully for your number to be called.

The inside is quaint and is made for you to sit and eat and go. There was a lot of hussle and bustle when I went, people eating, talking and there was even a singer with a guitar

From waiting in line, ordering, paying, getting food, and a table, the whole experience took about 45 minutes.

I highly recommend that you try this place for World Class tacos dorados!

I have been eyeing this spot to check out for a long time and finally got to do so! I've always seen a line so I'd figured I try to call it in! When I arrived I noticed that they were taking some orders and seating at the door so I think that also causes it to always have a line! The restaurant is very informal and you can order and grab a seat! I saw so many recommendations for the carne asada super burrito dorado style spicy and wow! It was so good! The carne asada meat was so tender and packed with so much flavor with the beans, guacamole, sour cream, pico, etc! The burrito does not contain rain so it does feel less heavy and easier to manage and eat! The burrito by itself was not spicy even though I asked for it to be spicy! I did love the salsa verde! Now that had a kick and was a perfect pair with the burrito!
