Q:
What vegan or vegetarian options do they have? Love the options at craft and taco in Escondido but this place is right near my house?
A:
Being honest I don't see much vegan food on the menu. You would be better off asking the server. There are vegetarian dishes, which have cheese and you might order yours without cheese. Their beans and rice are very good but most of their dishes… more

Ricardo was amazing and provided 5-star service, coupled with information and laughs. The food was spectacular and the atmosphere was priceless. Thank you!

This is the first time we've been back here since they added the second room. It's definitely been upgraded to a classier feel, it isn't just another taco shop anymore. They've also expanded the menu. There are some interesting looking entrees now, aside from the tacos and burritos. I'll have to try one next time! I came here with tacos on my mind, so that's what I stuck with. I had a fish taco, which was as good as I remember (with a huge piece of fish!) and a quesabirria taco, which also was excellent. Josue was our server and was very pleasant and attentive. I should also mention the prices are reasonable, especially considering that they just did a significant remodel.
We'll definitely be back, this is definitely my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1May 21, 2021Previous reviewWow! This is a small place and looks like a typical taco shop like any other around here, but it's on a whole other level. The menu has a lot more variety, and everything we had was incredibly fresh and delicious.
This first trip, we stuck with what we usually order at other places so we could compare. I had a grilled shrimp burrito, and my wife had a fried fish taco. Both were super fresh tasting. The burrito was huge, too. Even the salsa they gave us with our chips was surprisingly good.
We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu, I can't wait! - 478476Apr 5, 2024
Really fun time here recently with a group of friends-we all had delicious margaritas and our orders came out perfectly! I had the enchiladas suiza and devoured every bite

This is a beautiful hidden gem! My service was great and my taco salad was delicious. Very reasonable prices. Beautiful bar area and plenty of seating.

This place is not to be mistaken with the world famous Las Brisas in Laguna. I was hoping for at least a palatable meal. The best thing I received was the chips and salsa. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos and Caldo de Pollo. First, the asada was dry and flavorless. A little tip top the cook... Go to The Taco Shop off Los Posas and order their carne asada street tacos. That's how it's done. In addition, the corn tortilla was rubbery. Overall 1 out of 10 on the tacos. Next, the Caldo de Pollo... The broth was bland until I added Verde sauce to it. Then and only then was it salvageable. They used breast meat... Shredded. Bleh. Boiled chicken breast is simply dry when cooked in broth. There is a reason why other places use whole bone in pieces of legs and thighs. The fat in the dark meat is more conducive to a moist and tasty Caldo. The atmosphere was pleasant and the server was a complete pleasure. I probably will not be back. I wish them the best of luck in their culinary endeavors.

Continue to be disappointed in this place. The food is good but their service is just awful. Painfully slow. Drinks should come out super quickly but it never does. We had to wait 15 minutes for water and had to go back up to ask for it. There's no way you could ever get a second drink either. Do not be in a rush if you go here.

Took about 20 minutes to get our margaritas because there is only one bartender with a huge drink list. Food took another 25 minutes after we got our drinks, and we ordered food before our drinks got to us. It looks like there's 5 people working there, including the chef. Food and drinks are good, but there is no urgency.

Highly impressed! This place is a hidden gem. They have happy house monday through friday from 3-6. The classic margarita was very good. We tried a variety of food. Some highlights were the fish taco, rice and beans, and the chile relleno. Chips and salsa are complimentary and the salsa was perfectly balanced. I would pass on the street tacos next time as they were just okay. The waitress was very nice as well. Plenty of parking. Cute area. From the outside it looked like it would be run down and did not look busy. However when you first walk in there is another room that is beautifully decorated and well populated.

Overall -- great lunch!
We had the Nachos which were pretty good, but not amazing. I felt like the Nachos needed a bit more seasoning and perhaps some pico de gallo or cilantro or something to brighten them up.
However, the Carnitas Street Taco and Shrimp Diablo were very very good! We'd come back just for those.
I also had the Birria Street Taco which was good, but not 5 stars. I thought the consume could have been more rich/salty.
Overall though, we'd come back again though as the service is also always really nice and quick!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John G.Washington, DC012Jan 21, 2024
Campechana is fresh and tasty. Onions, avocados, cucumbers, fresh tomatoes, mixing with shrimps, octopus, and scallops, I can enjoy every bite of different ingredients from each spoonful. Color likes Frida's painting, rich and bright, and brings a desire from your taste buds.
Quesa Burris Taco is also a wonderful dish, though oily. Taken a waitress suggestion, ordered the one with cheese. The cheese smoothes the sharpness from short rib seasonings and juiciness.
Overall, it is a wonderful experience of Mexicana cuisine.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hinna B.San Diego, CA104141122Oct 28, 2023
They renovated the space. It's really cute with good music playing. The food was heavily salted. I found it inedible, but the two people in my party who like salt were happy. The cocktails were great, which earned them their 2 stars. The service was HORRIBLE. It was mostly empty and the server moved at the pace of a Zooptopia DMV sloth. She also didn't notice that she skipped me for ordering until much later. If they could get their service quicker, bartender included, then they could totally be a new hot spot. I'd prefer less salt too, but that may be personal preference.
