Our move from NC to CO. Badly done. Packed us a full week before the actual move so we lived out of suitcases, then Bekins with who they are affiliated, failed to get a driver causing an additional 11-day delay for which we were meagerly compensated. Communications during this time sucked; Make A Move claimed not to be able to get information from Bekins and Bekins pumped out the usual uncaring inaccurate information about what was going on if they responded at all. Numerous items arrived broken, crushed, with parts missing, etc. In one instance we found pieces of one appliance thrown into the bottom of a box of clothing. Some boxes were not marked at all. My tool box never made it but the driver did try to deliver someone else's violin.
If I could give these guys negative stars I would. The team of Make A Move and Bekins in a word...."LOSERS".Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Don, thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your move. I want to sincerely apologize for your experience. It is not our goal to have a move delayed or a customer inconvenienced.
In the spirit of being open and transparent, I want you to know what went wrong and how we have fixed the issue. This pandemic has added unforeseen challenges for our parent company Bekins, the biggest of which was a backlog on nationwide moves, especially to the southwest. Securing readily available drivers plagued many in this industry and unfortunately you felt that.
Bekins has added an additional fleet and hired more drivers. We want you to know that we discounted your move as much as possible and asked Bekins to compensate you the maximum amount allowable for your inconvenience. I know that it is not as much as you asked for, but we did everything we could to make this right. We wish you the very best in your new home. - Bob M.Charlotte, NC1245Oct 5, 2020
I have used Make a Move on two occasions and each time they far exceeded my expectations. Every aspect of the move was Five Stars +. Communication with their staff, the handling of our furniture, the costing and set up of our new home was extraordinary. After 30 years as a US Marine, which included 17 moves, Make a Move set the standard by which all movers should be set. If you're looking for a great encounter with a moving company - call them!

As both a Realtor AND a private consumer, I wouldn't dream of using another service for me or my business. When referring companies to my clients, I am always certain to include M.A.M/Bekins in my list of recommended vendors. What I love (and APPRECIATE) the most about the group at Make A Move is the accountability they have for themselves, and the levels of trust that I can place in them.
I have had several clients successfully (and happily) utilize their services. From a townhouse-owner's simple Point A to Point B move, on up to the organization, packing, storage, and transfer of four decades' worth of contents in a 4,000 square-foot home- they have done it all. On top of all of this, the friendly and professional manner in which they conduct themselves is a flawless representation of both me and my business.
I *strongly* urge you to give them the opportunity to take this minutiae off of your plate (and/or your clients')... you won't regret it!

Sneaky cheating billing.
I called a few days prior and was quoted $115 an hour for two movers. The two movers were excellent. They were helpful and efficient.
The billing for 1 and a quarter hours of the two guys labor was billed as 2.75 total hours. The company bills time over an hour in quarter hour increments as explained up front. What was not explained up front was that I would be billed for travel time from their starting point to when they arrived at my home. And again when they drove back to their return destination.
So I paid $115 an hour for 1.5 hours of driving time or a total $172.50 for driving on top of the 1.25 hours of actual moving time that totaled $143.75. Our total bill was $172.50 + $143.75 = $316.25 for slightly more than one hours work.
Other companies like All My Sons, Bulldog Movers or Hornet Moving mention a trip charge like $99 or $129 in addition to hourly labor rates. I didn't ask about a trip charge with Make A Move and maybe I should have. But they sure didn't mention it either.
Sneaky. I won't be returning and will not recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Beth K.Charlotte, NC28154210Dec 29, 2017First to Review
This moving company did an awesome job delivering my sofa. They were very professional. It took less than an hour to complete the removal of the old sofa and install the new Sofa. If my family had moved the Sofa it would have been 2 hours of blood sweat and tears. There would probably have been damage to my new sofa too.
I recommend this company for all deliveries of furnitureHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anne V.SC, SC0494Jul 26, 2019
The movers, Jairo and Jeremy, did a good job. I have given a three star review because I feel that I was over charged. I was charged for 4 hours. This mover includes the drive time from when they leave their parking lot to when they return. The actual moving time (arrival time at work site) was just under 3 hours. I have hired several movers in the last few months and have never been charged this way. I am simply charged for the time on the job, which is fair. I'm thinking that I'm going to tell my employer that my drive time to and from work is going to be part of my 8 hour work day!

We recently moved from SC to NC (completed move in same day) and selected Make-A-Move after they were recommended by several friends and their bid was competitive with others. I'm now a big fan of make-a-move and will be recommending them too! The team for our move was professional and hardworking and we enjoyed meeting and sharing the day with them. Saying "good-bye" to a longtime home can be hard, but knowing the move team had everything under control gave me time to quietly say "good-bye". I still can't believe how smoothly the day went. Can't thank make-a-move enough!
