Mike the Downtown Handyman

I strongly advise against hiring Mike for several reasons. Firstly, his level of professionalism is lacking, which is evident in his overall work ethic. He produces sloppy work. For instance, when he painted my business partner's condo, the end result was far from satisfactory.

What is particularly concerning is Mike's reaction to receiving negative feedback. Instead of accepting constructive criticism and striving to improve, he retaliated against my business partner by writing a negative review of my business in return. Our business had nothing to do with this transaction. This kind of behaviour demonstrates a clear lack of maturity and professionalism.

The guy never showed up! We had settled on a day for him to come to our office to hang a whiteboard - he said he forgot and that my response got lost in a flood of emails.

He suggested an alternative day -and he still never arrived. Not even an email has to why he didn't bother to show up.

We are an office at Yonge/King - right in the downtown core. Not difficult to find.

Extremely disappointed.

Two outta the five emails he responded to. I needed basic stuff like hanging etc. I pursued cuz he's reasonably priced. He text me late evening suggests coming in the morning, so I basically after work I stayed up till 5am preparing for his arrival. Then he emails again rescheduled for two hours later. Needless to say he emailed me at basically the time he was supposed to show up and claimed he couldn't make it due to "family issue" with no follow up etc.. I sent my understanding and my request when he may reschedule -its twelve hours later and still nothing. Clearly this company is lacking professionalism and is also suffering with the majority of other handymen in the city with, "family issues." I hope all their families are taken care of, so they can also handle their businesses in a professional matter and foremost, Respect People's Time!


Great glad your a good father, we all bear our crosses. Being a mega international company has nothing to do with good business practise or acumen. I'll be going in a different direction... It shouldn't be this hard. Thanks.

Followed instructions to contact via email, which I did. Got no response, similar to a bunch of other reviewes. Scrolling thru his reviews, he comments on my review that "he doesn't deal with bedbugs"! My request and my house have nothing to do with bedbugs. Seems like a wild and crazy guy who specializes in hit and miss.

Responded quickly. Arrived punctually. Took his shoes off at the door (without being asked). Swept up the mess after hanging pictures. Made great suggestions when I wasn't sure where to hang things. Worked very quickly. Was friendly and pleasant the whole time.

Could not recommend Mike more highly. I will use him again in future.

What can I say about Mike, that hasn't been said already. I found Mike on Yelp a year ago when I was looking for someone to assemble a huge kitty condo. Mike came, he saw, he conquered and he asked if there was anything else I needed help with-wow!

Fast forward to almost a year later, I'm moving in a couple months and the kitty condo has to go to make room for storage. I couldn't remember who assembled the condo initially so I yelped and got someone who lives nearby, and his price was $90. I thought this was rather steep, so I continued my search and found Mike again-yay!

Mike once again, came, saw, conquered and asked if there was anything else...this time there was-my cable/tv weren't working. Mike found the unplugged cable and boom, I'm back in business.

When it came time to pay, he says just give me $50, I gave him $60.

I wish I could take him to Atlanta with me.

Excellent! Mike clearly shows knowledge, and that he cares about the result. I had built a few bookshelves and needed Mike's help for a project I had in mind with them. He immediately noticed that I had built several of them incorrectly and pointed that out to me and insisted in fixing it for me. My nature of "don't want to bother others" I said it was okay to leave it like that but he insisted and it felt good because anyone else would just go with it, get the job done, and get out.

The price is really good if you compared to competitors and the end result, and he is quick to respond!
I will be using his services again soon and will definitely be my go-to person for future projects.

Mike is seriously the nicest dude ever. Yesterday was the last day of the month and today is Canada Day, so I knew it would be tough finding someone to help me uninstall my water ionizer at 4pm on June 30th. My original guy had bailed on me, so I called about 17 handymen in sheer desperation and Mike was the only one who called back.

He was over within the hour and did the quickest, most efficient and yet professional job. I know he really went out of his way to help because he was hanging out with a friend and then had a dinner party to throw later that night... But he said he heard the panic in my voice-- which he certainly did-- I had to be out of the house by midnight!

Anyway, I will DEFINITELY be calling Mike again... you should too-- he is the BEST!!

I have made 3 attempts to reach this company to get a quote for some work (2 emails as per their process, and another through Yelp) and they do not respond. It has now been over 2 weeks since my first inquiry and I have not heard from them. Further, they do not answer the phone...... I obviously can't comment on their work, but their response time is terrible. Perhaps they have too much work and don't have time to take on more.

Response to Mike's comment below: Thanks for your response. However, all 3 inquiries stated it was for my rental condo in the downtown core, not Stouffville. Regardless, I was able to get someone else to do the repairs.

I just used Mike. Great communication and got the job done in no time. Plus he gave me a lesson in how to handle my problem in the future by myself. I highly recommend Mike.
