The rate increase would be more palpable if the owners were more transparent in what "expenses" have increased. Instead the same form letter is sent out. I know this is outside the scope of the management. Lori has been great! This is directed at the owners.

We've kept stuff at Mini Max since 2014. They're reasonably friendly and the facilities seem good. HOWEVER....
Prices rise FAR more than the rate of inflation every year. Every summer we'd get a letter about a rate increase with boilerplate text similar to "Like every business, prices are rising. Thank you for your understanding."
I'm sorry, but I DO NOT understand. What expenses do they really have that keep going up that much? They have a couple of people who live on-site (I believe), and they have maintenance costs and property taxes. Other than that, they're literally renting you space.
In August 2021, the increase was over 9.75% from the previous year. And just this week we got a letter saying they want to raise the rate AGAIN in February another 10%. We'll be paying almost $200 a month now; in 2016, it was $138 per month. In five years, it's gone up almost 50%.
That last increase is the straw that broke the camel's back. We're looking at buying a Tuff Shed for our backyard and getting away from their constant price increases. I rented a unit for nearly a year while a new home was being constructed for me. I store 90% of my house hold items in the unit. The facility is secure, clean, and has easy egress. Lori is a rock star. She run a tight ship. I vacated my unit today, but if I have further need for a storage unit in the future... Lori will be my first call. It was nice doing business there.
