After multiple surgeries and hospital stays, my ability to help around the house has been severely diminished for a few months. So for Xmas I got my wife 6 months of cleaning service from No More Chores as she is running everything by herself and could really use the help.
After a few visits I'm really impressed by the service here. The cleaning lady who comes is really impeccable and worth every penny. She doesn't speak much english but totally gets what we need help with and does a bang up job each time.
On top of that, the customer service and response time to emails and inquiries is top notch here.
I realized they had us listed down as 3 bathrooms and 0 half bathrooms, so I emailed to say it should have been 2 bathrooms and 1 half bathroom. Within an hour I got a response saying "Thanks for letting us know, we made the changes and also set a refund for past two cleanings accordingly."
Very impressive.

Generally the cleaning itself was pretty good, although a bit complicated to schedule - the time slot you select doesn't necessarily reflect when they're able to come. I would give 4 stars for cleaning.
The 2 stars is because this company employs unscrupulous business practices to sneak in fees without explicitly stating there are additional fees, and without getting your explicit approval for said fees. I've initiated a dispute with my bank to have the additional charges reversed. I have decided to update the rating on this business after communication with the owner. Sorry it took awhile.
Mike, the owner, was quick to respond to my original review and also PM'd me to assess the issue. I told him that overall, I feel that the cleaners were polite, respectful and professional. Even though the bathroom was not cleaned well and certain area not done, I feel that this was due to the in- betweens people not relaying all the information (See original post) This was not reflected in the first post due to word limit.
Mike offered me a free clean. I was torn- if good review can be swayed by free service, then how could we trust the reviews we see on Yelp? Plus, The cleaners did a decent job, on what they were told to do anyways. What I didn't like was how the whole thing was handled, not the cleaners. To arrange another clean feels kind of troublesome. On the other hand, I think any business deserve a chance to rectify and improve their image.
In the end, I declined the free clean. However, I do appreciate Mike's effort to achieve customer satisfaction and therefore I am updating the rating and review to reflect this aspect of the business.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi there, I am so disappointed to hear of your subpar experience with us! We were a little taken aback by this review because we typically call and/ or email every client after the cleaning to ensure that everything went as planned and promised. With that being said, we certainly do not want to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth! We'd like to talk to you and make this right for you, but we cannot recall the customer details about this particular cleaning. Can you contact us by phone or email so we know who you are?
Jul 25, 2018Previous reviewI had a mixed experience with this company, so much that I waited a long time before reviewing so I can be as objective as possible.
I recently moved. My new place is unfurnished and filled with boxes in various stages of unpacking.
Instead of setting a regular schedule, I thought I'd hire one company to do deep clean after every reno project, and this way I can see how they perform before I commit to a regular clean.
I filled an online query and heard back from Grace right away. We set the time and date. I got a confirmation email for my booking. So it was odd that a few hours later, someone named Maria called, asking me if she could book cleaning service for me. I shrugged it off- maybe she didn't get the memo. However, this lag/lack of communication will be a common theme.
I told Grace there were a few things I want her to note:
1. I just moved and have no chairs, could they make sure to bring a small stool, so that they can clean the top of the shelves in the closet (I could reach it if I tip toed, so a little extra boost is all they need) She said no problem. In every email they sent me it was there in the note to bring a stool. However, on the day of the clean, they didn't.
2. Pets- If this is a regular, 1-2 hour weekly clean, I'd consider leaving my dog home. However, this is a 5 hour deep clean. I asked if I should take the dog out. Initially Grace said dog can stay, but I said my dog sheds just by existing, and will prob ruin the cleaner's hard work. She agreed that it's prob best I take the dog out.
3. Arrival and departure- since it's my first time using them, I want to be there for arrival and departure, for security reasons obviously.
4. Timing- based on the size of my condo, they told me it'd take 5 hours.
5. Specific area- I asked them to please clean the bathroom thoroughly.
The cleaners arrived on time. In fact, I was caught in the rain coming home so I got in just a bit after 10. When I got to my lobby I saw there were a few missed calls, The call display didn't say "No More Chore" but said "Emerald Eco Cleaners". I figured maybe the company subcontract jobs out.
They told me that my cleaners are already here and couldn't get in. I told them I am home now. I found 2 ladies waiting with their equipments. As they were unloading and changing into indoor shoes my dog came to greet them. One of the ladies let out a noise and backed away. Realizing she was afraid of the dog, I put him away. I have to respect ppl's fear of canines, but during booking they shouldn't make it sound okay to leave my dog. Imagine this poor woman constantly overlooking her shoulder for fear of being attacked? Not cool.
It quickly dawned on me the cleaners do not speak much English. What's odd was that they asked me what I want cleaned... I thought they'd just do whatever is on the list of a "deep clean" I found it annoying that head office would send someone without telling them what to do.
It took about 30 minutes of gesturing. The cleaners would point to one area and asked "yes, no?" and I'd say yes and no and nod or shake my hands to indicate if I want the area done. The cleaners also called Maria, who supposedly translated.
During this time, I received a phone call from another "Maria" who said the cleaners have arrived and could I please let them in. What is going on with their communication?
Anyways, I left with my dog, expecting to be back around 3pm.
Around 1pm, Maria phoned, and said the cleaners told her it'd take much longer to finish the jobs. She said it's because I requested to have the windows and inside of the drawers cleaned, so it'd 10 hours. I told her I did not ask for the drawers to be cleaned. I had said "No" very clearly to the cleaners when they asked me. She then went on to say that the windows took longer coz they didn't realize how big my windows were. They charge windows by the piece and so they'd have to charge more for the larger windows.
I asked if this means I won't be able to go home until 7pm. She said no, it'd be finished at 3pm, that's 10 hours of work. She said that the hours are counted per person, so when they said 5 hours to me on the phone, they meant 5 man- hours, but since they sent 2 cleaners, each cleaner count as 2 hours. So technically, at 1pm, I would be billed for 6 hours already.
By this time I was so tired of all of this back and forth with this company, all I wanted was to go home and rest. Hiring them gave me more stress. So we agreed that they'd clean whatever they could for 8 hours and go. Maria told me to be home just a little before 3pm.
I got home around 215pm, and decided to wait in the lobby until they were done. I took out my phone and found a VM from them. It said that the cleaners have finished and left my unit. So they left my place unlocked. A total lack of consideration for security.

Very bad experience. Apartment was not cleaned very well. Did not move a chair to sweep under it let alone to mop. Baseboards were missed despite pointing it out. Did not sweep or swifter under bed.

I asked for a regular cleaning with few extra areas (inside fridge, hand wiping baseboards, and sweeping balcony). Most areas were very clean and that's what 2 stars are for, but overall I'm unsatisfied with the service. My main issues:
- There were areas untouched or not done well enough. The fridge was left completely untouched and although it was better than nothing, baseboard were left with dust and skid marks here and there.
- The cleaner showed up by herself, saying her colleague called in sick. It took her nearly 4 hours to finish the apartment that was less than 500 sq ft with no furnitures or obstructing objects. The real issue is that I told her that I'd be at cafe nearby so if anything she can call me (or have her supervisor contact me). After being out for 4 hours I thought I should go back and check how far along she was. I ran into the cleaner in my lobby with her luggage and a garbage bag. I thought that she probably had one more trip back up to let garbage out, but instead she told me that she's all done and on her way out. Which means she left my apartment unlocked and wasn't even going to inform me.
- Obviously there were no walk over with the checklist at the end of the service to make sure everything on the request was done.
- I was in touch with Grace for the most part as she was the one who confirmed the service day before and did a follow up. She asked me to send me photos of the unsatisfactory areas. I had sent the photos to her and some more to their customer service email. I have not heard from any of them for 2 days.
- Meanwhile I was already billed with $264 when I have told Grace that few things need to be adjusted on the bill. As I said, all other areas were well done and I just wanted to make sure that I don't get charged for services that i had to go over and do it myself. Hi Adela, quick update on this. First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. Third party sites like Yelp are the perfect platform for consumers to recommend a business, or, as in your case, warn other consumers about their negative or less than perfect experience with a company. From the company's standpoint, it keeps us accountable to our actions, business models, and overall operations. I truly believe that for the most part, every company earns each of their reviews, both positive and negative in nature.
I am so incredibly sorry (and embarrassed after reading of your experience with our company!) that we dropped the ball on your account.
Your first message on the day of the cleaning slipped through the cracks and we didn't arrive at addressing it in a timely manner.
That said we're very happy to hear that you found most areas clean. As we discussed we didn't charge you for the fridge cleaning nor the missed areas. But we should have corrected this much sooner on the invoice! We've since improved our processes to ensure no customer is left waiting as long you did, thank you for that.
In addition, we've since invested in additional coaching of team members to better communicate with customers so customers are aware of when the cleaning is finished and can review the work prior to us leaving. We've also implemented a security protocol to ensure a door is NEVER left unlocked

I have had two fabulous and one horrible clean with No More Chores. In the end, the owner did right and refunded my money for the bad experience, and was incredibly sensitive to my frustrations and concerns. He seems very genuine that they would be updating some policies and was very remorseful that I was put a busy mom into a crappy situation.
My two basic cleans from NMC were excellent, so if that's what you're after I truly recommend them. However, even if everything goes smoothly, their deep cleans still run a bit pricy, so I probably would not suggest them for those big all-over jobs.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Mar 25, 2019Previous reviewIt truly pains me to write this review, because I initially had a couple of decent experiences with No More Chores. If you check out my other reviews, you'll see I skew positive. One starring a local biz is not my jam. However, I just spent $530 on a deep clean that was a hot mess.
The owner did contact me to apologize after an unfortunate back and forth and says they're refunding roughly 1/5 of what I paid. I appreciate his efforts, however, after thinking about it all, it's just too terrible and I need to share my experience.
The bottom line: go somewhere else if you want your house cleaned well at a decent price point without being shamed **or photographed without your knowledge**.

I am pregnant and have a toddler. It's been a particularly rough pregnancy, and my lil' one has made some big messes this winter. If you're a mom, you know what it's like. I had some marks on the walls, her room had toys everywhere, and there was a particularly, hmmm, let's say artful area in the living room where she had stuck some Paw Patrol stickers on the wall. Rough, but not crazy. I'm sure all the parents feel me.
It had been about three weeks since my last house clean, and we are redoing some things, so we decided a deep clean was in order. In the initial booking I said I needed big deep clean in all rooms, and especially needed the walls focused on. I did not need inside the fridge or anywhere special, just a deep clean under things and taking care of the walls.
They sent 2-3 reminder emails/cal alerts and one of them included the information which said I did need the inside of my fridge, oven and cabinets cleaned. I told the cleaners I did not, in fact, need these extra services, but they did it anyway. $140 extra bucks out of the gate. Woof.
When the two cleaners arrived I showed them the wall stuff. They were rude to me and said "If we get to it"... I then stood up for it, and said it's the whole reason I made the booking, and it should take priority. They cleaned my house all afternoon, and at first glance did a good job, and I tipped them extra in cash. They didn't get everything off the walls, but whatever. I have Magic Erasers and can do my rest post pregnancy when I'm handling chemicals again myself.
Upon further inspection the rest of the "deep clean" wasn't good. They didn't get to any of the wall streaks, they neglected to clean under things, etc.
So, after receiving a survey from NMC I was honest. This led to a back and forth. It got to the point where I felt they were being really defensive and weird and then boom! They sent me a really shaming email with multiple photos of my house in its worst state attached. WTF.
After some research my instincts were correct, it's completely illegal to take pictures inside someone's home without their permission. What's worse, is they sent these dirty pictures to me, but they didn't have any clean/after shots, so how do they even know the women they sent did all the work they said they did? Because honestly, they did not. Parts of the house were done well, but a lot of it was substandard, AKA not photographable. Further still to all this awful craziness, the pictures weren't just of things they might have had questions about, they were of things like my dirty sink and my three year old's toys being on the floor in her room. I feel incredibly freaked out, violated and confused.
I went back and forth on writing this review all week. It's embarrassing to admit your house can be a disaster, it's awkward to tell people you got into an email argument with a business and the whole thing just makes me feel icky. But I can't be alone in being a mom who has a messy house sometimes, and I'd hate to think of someone else ending up out a whack of money and feeling as violated as I do after this whole debacle. - Brendon H.Old Toronto, Toronto, Canada4614Jan 7, 2020Updated review

Anyone can see the pictures of the areas that I was very specific she was to clean, but she was more involved with being on her phone

Hi Brendon. We are super grateful you found our initial cleaning service to be satisfactory. At the second visit, we made it clear that we are no longer right cleaning service for you. The current condition of the apartment is counter to our Terms of Service, which say that we do not clean high levels of trash/debris and animal waste. We also stipulate that homes that are excessively dirty can be deemed unserviceable at our discretion. We discussed this with your roommate (our client) and he understood our decision completely and asked us to return when the space has been remediated by a more specialized cleaning company.

The second visit, a female by herself came, i was about to take my dogs for a quick walk, I told her to start in the living room area in front of the couch, I got home with them she was in the area behind the couch (I told her specifically the area inform of the couch )she used Water on my tv screen was on her phone, wiped down her vacuum and and got her stuff together saying she couldn't clean
The website says they do deep cleaning, yet I get a response from the owner who says he isn't the company to help.

Originally I gave a 4/5 review, but I've been thinking that they truly did deserve 5/5 as my original complaint wasn't actually a big deal. Then today, I went to microwave something and I noticed it too was completely spotless! I keep discovering such attention to deal and it makes me more grateful for the service each day.

Jan 15, 2019Previous reviewMy apartment was in need of a deep clean, but I had never hired anyone to clean before. My landlord referred me to No More Chores, and I'm so happy she did! Booking was easy, and Jessica and her trainee did an amazing job getting my place in order. She even texted me the night before to see if she could arrive earlier than the arrival window, and I was more then happy to oblige.
I asked NMC to focus on my bathroom, kitchen and living room, all of which are small as my apartment is tiny. They worked for a combined four hours and certainly delivered.
I am deducting one star because shortly after the cleaners arrived I received a call from the company saying my apartment was in rough shape and that I would have to pay an additional $79. I argued against this as I didn't feel our apartment was that bad. We had removed all clutter and done some serious cleaning of our own in the days prior. Instead, I asked them to just do what they could in the amount of time I was quoted for and prioritize based on the rooms I had previously identified. I had already added the "deep clean service," which was $79 on top of the regular service, so I didn't want to pay any further. I'm glad I pushed back as the place looked amazing and I was really happy with the service. The company did not give me a hard time about sticking to my original quote.

TERRIBLE SERVICE- Avoid at all costs.
I booked a moving out cleaning for my condo with this company thinking they were a professional cleaning service; boy was I in for a rude awakening.
I actually was initially pleasantly surprised by how quickly they were able to arrange a cleaning for my condo the very next day. They had told me to expect the cleaners for the next day between 2-4pm. Alright, I clear my schedule and arrange to be home for that time.
3pm comes around and I get a text from the cleaners that they would be late and not arrive until 5pm. Okay, fine. Another text at 5pm saying they won't arrive at 6pm. Again, fine, things happen. I'm just mildly annoyed at this point.
Two cleaners arrive a little past 6 and confirm that they are to do a thorough moving out cleaning that will roughly take them 4 hours for the both of them. They encourage me to leave the condo so as not be in their way, okay. I trust them and leave - its a professional cleaning service right?
Wrong.
I come back to my condo at 9:30pm. The cleaners had already left. What do I find? A joyously clean apartment that is spotless? No.
I find a giant (about 2-3 feet) scratch in my hardwood floor (see pictures). Its right at the corner of my couch from where I assume the cleaners had moved the couch to clean behind it.
When I called the company to complain about this, they first tried to give me a run around stating that they couldn't have done it because their cleaners "don't move furniture and only sweep underneath it" -absolute bullcrap. This scratch was not there before I left for the night. Furthermore, the area behind the couch is absolutely spotless which is not achievable from just an underneath sweep.
When I raised this with them they said that they would bring in someone to assess and investigate the damage a few days from now. When I wasn't available for the given time, they said this was the only time available and I would have to make myself free.
Hang on a moment here, you're INCOMPETENT cleaners scratched my floor and now you're telling me I have to be free at YOUR CONVENIENCE for this?
At this point I'm still waiting to hear back on how they will resolve this issue.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE service.

The experience you described is indeed unsatisfactory and not representative of that which we aim to deliver. We train our staff not to move furniture to prevent situations exactly like this. We did acknowledge your claim almost as soon as you contacted us, which is why we dispatched someone to investigate and fix the problem. Bottom line here is simple: Our company failed you. As the business owner, I not only give you my heart felt apology but vow to change what needs to be changed in order to earn 5 star ratings for future clients. A one star rating is terrible and we don't want to see that again! We would like to make this right and have a few options for you. I had No More Chores in for a clean recently. There was a little bit of confusion on the communication side that made some things get left out, but when I spoke to Mike he was awesome! He sent someone back to finish the job.The place was gleaming!
