Based on good Google reviews, we booked our son for lessons with ONS. What a colossal mistake. I am absolutely convinced their reviews are padded. The male instructor was late for each of the first three lessons yet brought our kid home on time. He complained about doing lessons in the evening even though their website advertises evening spots. (Our son is in school...what do they expect?) He cancelled one lesson at the last minute claiming his vehicle was in the shop. Why he couldn't let us know earlier in the day is beyond me. And shouldn't the school have multiple vehicles?
The icing on the cake was when my son said he had to drive another student home during his lesson. What!!!???!!! Sure he was "instructed" on the way but a cab service (with my 17 year old as the cabbie) is NOT what I paid for and likely not what the other parent counted on either. How could they give a new driver the responsibility of another young person (stranger) in the car without asking both sets of parents first!? I was outraged.
At that point I called the owner of the company to complain. I outlined all of my concerns and he said that they are "permitted" to have students drive others home. I told him in no uncertain terms that it was not to happen again with my kid.
He offered to change the instructor for the last two lessons as well as give us an extra 15 min. of lesson time to make up for the tardiness of the first instructor. I would have rather pulled my son but there were only two lessons left so we agreed. That was mistake number two.
The new instructor actually contradicted the first one on a significant shoulder-checking piece of information that would result in points if done incorrectly on the driver's test. I was floored.
In the end, my husband and I practiced a whole lot more with my son before his driver's test and he managed to squeak through and pass. Without our many extra hours in the car, there's no way he would have.
I absolutely cannot recommend ONS even though the owner tried to "make things right". There were just too many negatives, no consistency, and poor communication. The quality of the instructors has to be much higher considering they are responsible for something as critical as training safe drivers. We will be getting a few extra private lessons with another local company that has blue cars. I want to make sure that my son will stay safe on the road and ONS did not prepare him well.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ty S.Southwest Edmonton, Edmonton, Canada02Feb 10, 2022
They must buy their google reviews. It's hard to book their lessons and my instructor was often on the phone sometimes dealing with other custumers or speaking hindu. I had another student in the back that I had to drop off, but because I was scared to drive, my first time, the instructor drove the other student back and since we had to pick up the next student I couldn't so the instructor had to drive. At my first lesson I drove less than an hour. After my 10 hours I went for my test 3 times, the examiner told me I should get driver education and when I told him i did he told me to ask for my money back. I went to another driving school and learned more in 2 hours with them than i did with ons. If i went to the other place first that's more expensive, i wouldve still saved money. DONT GO THERE!

Worst experience the driver yelled at me for a making a mistake (that didnt put us in any danger). The yelling ended up putting us in a really unsafe position. Really unprofessional.

I am very grateful to have an instructor like Sam who has lots of patience to teach a beginner like me. I would highly recommend him as one of the best and flexible with timings and adjusting with my tight schedules.

My instructor (Indian Lady) was consistent late picking me for 10-15minutes. She was eating in the car while I was driving. After that she goes to the washroom at Tim Hortons. It was incredibly u professional. For this reasons, I will not recommend this driving school.

This driving school has given me nothing but problems. My instructor would constantly change the times of my lessons only an hour or less before the lesson. His accent was hard to understand and he would frequently take long phone calls during my lesson. I was not told that there was a charge to use their vehicle for my driving exam, and my instructor told me to wait for my last lesson until 2 hours before my exam so thats what i did. Not only did he double book me with another student for that timeslot so i didnt get my last lesson, i had to sit in the back while she drove around and practiced before our exams. Then, AFTER my exam, he told me that there was a 50 dollar fee associated with using his vehicle and said i could either text him my credit card number (talk about sketchy) or he would drive me to a bank to give him 50 dollars cash. He didnt give me a receipt for my cash and said he would send one to me. It is 3 weeks later and i have contacted the school several times (which upon calling, i talked to a lady with multiple children screaming at her in the background) to get my certificate for my insurance company as well as my receipt for the cash i was forced to give to my instructor. This driving school is unprofessional and untimely. Spend the extra 500 bucks and go to AMA. Seriously.
