Came here on a Friday for dinner. Surprisingly, the place was not super busy. We were greeted and seated right away.
I ordered the spicy seafood ramen. The ramen was a little bit too spicy for me. It came with shrimp, octopus, scallop, and other seafood. My friend ordered the ramen + bowl of pork with rice. We ended up switching because I could not handle the spice. I'd recommend this place for those who haven't been. They do cool drinks if you are into that!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elijah d.Serra Mesa, San Diego, CA01Jan 14, 2023

Happy hour is such a great deal here, all their starters are buy one get one 50% off from 4pm-6pm! For only 10$ I got salmon Tartare (w/ avocado) AND 6 pc pork dumplings! These were probably the best pan-fried pork dumplings I've ever had. This is the only place I've seen that serves it with the berry ponzu sauce and the sauce is the perfect amount of sweetness!
This was the first time trying salmon tartare. Very light and refreshing. Honestly, it was very filling for a starter. I could've had this as an entree. Great deals, fast service.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Nic L.Sacramento, CA42929659Feb 25, 2022
Rakitori has some strong pros and just a couple of cons. I will absolutely be returning to try some more of their menu after the impression they left on my last visit. I had the roll with PopRocks on it which, at first, I thought must be a misunderstanding. I assumed it would be disgusting but was willing to be adventurous and try it anyways. It was actually kind of amazing. It was a delicious roll without the PopRocks but the extra kick was so much fun. My only issue with it was the PopRocks would fall into my soy sauce and be crackling throughout dinner. The whole restaurant was quiet but the staff used the opportunity to be attentive and very kind.

The food tasted great but the only thing was I felt the appetizers were very small portions. The ramen broth had a lot of flavor and they give you a lot of ramen unlike other ramen places. They have a tv at the bar and and we were able to watch the game there while having dinner. I would definitely come back again!

COOL HANGOUT, DECENT EATS
(3 stars)
Many offerings, excellent service from waitstaff, decent food. I like the concept of this "Pub" style venue with Japanese food - chill spot for small bite eats. Wasn't feeling the travels to Convoy and stayed close to home even though I know asian places outside of Convoy can be hit or miss. Came for early dinner and met Happy Hour prices that weren't necessarily Happy Hour but more like "selected items were buy one get the second half off and selected drinks from menu were discounted". Items I chose didn't make the HH cut.
TONKATSU - didn't try but he said it was okay/ good.
TAKOYAKI - their version they bake it so it comes out piping hot and so soft. The inside resembled a custard texture with tiny bits of octopus meat.
MISO SOUP - this was really good. They added so much extra tofu and enoki mushrooms it wasn't basic miso.
Had small appetite so I settled for a few Yakitori. Each Yakitori comes with two skewers with approximately 2'ish oz of meat. The smokiness level on the skewers is poor, although there's some charred edges it didn't have that good charcoal grill flavor, those charred edges tasted like burnt sauce. It kind of felt like the meat tasted pan fried and then coated with sauce.
FILET MIGNON - Wasn't spectacular but wasn't horrible. Less meat flavor and more of the coated sauce flavor. Filet mignon shouldn't been coated like that unless someone's trying to hide the blandness. Of the three yakitori's this was the favorite.
SPICY CHICKEN THIGH - you can't go wrong with chicken. This was a safe order but again sauce coated. I'm searching for that good Smokey flavor on the meat but didn't quite taste it.
MUSHROOM - YUCKitory. I couldn't finish eating the mushrooms. They tasted burnt and bitter.
SOO-JITO (Greengrape) - hands down to this drink! This made everything better. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Until the next review...Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Luisa B.Indio, CA077Jun 18, 2023
