My husband loved this place so much that we went twice duriing our 3 days in Evora. Evora isn't famous for roasted pigs but this place doesn't pale in comparison with the ones in cities known for it.

The first time we went, I was a little surprised they didn't bring us any sauce. One bite and it felt like asking for sauce would be an insult to the chef. The meat was seasoned perfectly, and it was wonderfully juicy, tender without being mushy, as may happen to suckling pigs. Our waitress was nice enough to subsitute the potato chips with salad, as we are a bit potato'ed out with all thte Portuguese food. The salad came out more colorful than we expected. The second time we went, the waiter brought along some sauce. It was not a black pepper sauce, but mildly spicy.

Beside the suckling pig, we tried other dishes from the menu - there's actually quite a good selection. The roated goat and duck rice are both quite delicious as well. The portions are quite substantial.

A very important note: there was quite a spread of couvert (starters) at the table, from bread to sliced ham to other warm and cold appetizers. Do note that these are not free - the waiter did ask us which one we would like. The prices for all couvert are listed in the menu, they do cost around 5-7 Euro each, so if you want them all, even if it's just a few bites, it could add up to a pretty penny. Beware of this - couvert is very common in Portuguese restaurants - and don't complain of scams or rip off. For us, we checked the price and let the waiter know which one to keep and which to take away (another reason why we usually turn down couvert - I don't have a good clue if the dish has done more travellng than I did, and would rather order something to be cooked for me.)

This is a relatively fancy restuarant, customers seems to dress up and we felt a bit underdressed in ourvery casual travel clothes, though the waitstaff still treated us nicely.

Charming restaurant off the beaten path, not easy to find. Very friendly and attentive staff. As the name a pork oriented restaurant with a very nice menu and wine list.

Started with a very good octopus salad. For mains, my wife tried the Monkfish Fillet with Seafood Sauce which came with homemade potato chips and broccoli, quite tasty. I have tried one of the house specialties, Monkfish Fillet with Seafood Sauce accompanied by French fries and rice. I was disappointed because it was chewy not tender.

For dessert, we had the Chocolate Mousse , also very good.

Definitely a restaurant to seek out.

I was recommended by my hotel, and am so fortunate I was. When I arrived no less than three people greeted me but without a reservation, I had to talk to the boss. He was great and found a seat for me. I ordered their famous roasted suckling pigs and they happily substituted the potato chips for a salad on recquest and recommended a fantastic wine. Overall I phenomenal experience. Suggestions: book your table in advance, invite a friend and spend an afternoon enjoying good food, good wine and good company!

Excellent service. Food is fish or pig. I had the pork tenderloin in garlic sauce and it was very good. Husband had grilled black pork. Also very good. Try the octopus appetizer-excellent! Local wines that don't disappoint. Ask waiter for recommendations

Best suckling black pig! My husband had the pork cheeks. All the food was excellent. The man who waited on us answered my questions about Black pigs. They eat acorns from cork trees and the pork is sweeter.
The service was impeccable. We received a taste of the black pork to see what it tasted like before ordering. Evora is gem and this restaurant adds to it!!! Wonderful ambiance. No wonder people are retiring in Portugal. They have the right kind of life here.

The roast suckling pig was wonderful! They also had their black pork meat with a tomato bread stuffing pudding. The house wine was great.

Something different in Evora. Pleasant service and nice atmosphere with lots of locals.
