I work in the hospitality industry, and as such don't often write reviews.

We book for lunch at 13:00 on Mother's Day, for 6pax.
We arrived and were seated. Two of the guests were running late and arrived at approximately 14:00. The waitress told us that there was another reservation for our table at 15:00.

Never were we informed of this 2 hour sitting.

At 15:00 the Restaurant Manager (a rude lady), informed us that we needed to leave now. We stated that we were never informed when booking of this, nor in the confirmation email, and when we were seated. The Manager advised us that she setup the website Dimmi and it was on there that we would only have 3 hours to dine. We informed the Manager that we arrived at 13:00, so if we are allowed 3 hours then we don't need to leave until 16:00. The Manager then stormed off.
When walking past our table this rude Manager would constantly glare at us.

When leaving the restaurant, there was still a table for 6pax available, so not sure what the fuss was about. However this ruined what was meant to be a special occasion for my mum and grandmother.
It was our second time to the cafe as a family, and we most likely won't be returning again.

We constantly had to ask for additional serving cutlery for the shared dishes. And our dessert was served with no cutlery set.

Our waitress (young lady with half her head shaven) was also quite rude to us. I guess that when the manager is rude to customers, the staff then do the same.

It was also off putting to have the Chef constantly walking around and through the cafe looking over tables, but not interacting with the customers.

The food could not be faulted, but the experience and service also makes a cafe or restaurant.

We had a fantastic birthday celebration at SaltPepperNutmeg with 16 friends. We started the celebration with a variety of antipasto and tiny tarts, with the main course, melt-in-the mouth spatchcock, beef cheeks, lamb shoulder and vegetarian risotto accompanied by salads. The food was plentiful with fresh ingredients. A great selection of desserts was provided including a striking birthday cake. All with an efficient yet unobtrusive service. All of our guests commented upon how much they enjoyed the food and the evening. We look forward to returning!

Salt Pepper Nutmeg is a great cafe/restaurant right next door to the Roseville Cinema. The food is delicious - made with lots of fresh ingredients which also double as part of the cafe's eclectic decor. Huge bunches of basil in vases, small pots of herbs, glass jars filled with Lego pieces, boxes of tomatoes, and I kid you not, a suit of armor, all adorn this bright, happy space. Top that off with butchers paper and crayons on every table and your work of art may just end up adorning the walls along with many other works of colorful, yet variable artistic merit. It almost sound too much - but it's not - just a fresh, fun atmosphere in which to enjoy the real star of Salt, Pepper, Nutmeg - the food. The slow-cooked lamb with pasta is an absolute stand-out, as is the gnocchi ragu, though I'd give the Pumpkin risotto a miss. Definitely worth a visit!
