I was running errands and saw Sparkle & Pop while walking back to my car- I wasn't intending to get my nails done today but as I walked by, the store was so inviting and clean that I dropped my bags off in my car and came back! I had waxing, spa pedicure & manicure with Hellen, all of which were amazing! She didn't seem rushed, gave an INCREDIBLE massage and was easy to communicate with. Highly highly recommend stopping by! :)

This is the worst gel manicure and pedicure that I ever had. I was rushed even though I made an appointment. The pedicure water was cold. My gel manicure chipped in 4 days. The lady was frustrated that I wouldn't let her use the electric drill on my cuticles for a manicure . She was sloppy with service and pushed me along.

I've gotten my nails here probably 5 times so far. This salon is the ONLY salon I've been to where my gel manicure lasts longer than two weeks without chipping or lifting and that alone keeps me coming back.
The other day I had requested a gel manicure pedi and was on a serious time crunch due to last minute rescheduling. I asked if they could fit the service into 45 minutes and they offered to do both services at the same time. It was incredibly accommodating and I could not stop thanking the staff.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shelby K.Birdsboro, PA061Mar 17, 2024
I spent 8 weeks growing out my natural nails and decided to break from my regular salon to try Sparkle & Pop. Three days after my appointment 3 of my natural nails broke off. I even paid $10 extra to get a "special" top coat to prevent breakage. Nail tech was so rough on my natural nails that it hurt at several points during the service. I'm so upset.

I had a great experience getting a gel manicure here. My nails look the best they've ever looked after a gel manicure thanks to the nail technician, Natalie. I'm so so pleased. My whole experience was fantastic.
I called about 30 minutes before arriving to make sure they could fit me in. I arrived early and they sat me right away. The salon is clean and the atmosphere is modern. The music was calming and the whole vibe of the salon feels relaxing. Nail salons everywhere should take a lesson from how this place is designed and the experience it provides. It makes me want to go back over and over. I don't live here but travel to Alexandria about once a month for work. I will likely stop in to get my nails done every time I'm in town because it was that good.
It was about $10 more to get a gel manicure compared to what I pay at home but I don't mind considering the quality of the manicure and the overall cleanliness and atmosphere of the salon.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Adiam S.Leonberg, Germany7819May 7, 2023Updated review
Left sparkle and pop satisfied once again.
Happy I can say I found my nail salon and artist on my layovers in Old Town Alexandria. Showed a picture with a different color and design and got something different upon agreeing to try it :) and I'm very happy how it turned out. Love Jennie's work.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 15, 2023Previous reviewOkay y'all i came back on my work layover to get my nails done by Jennie.
Picked up this specific layover because when I'm in the states I can never walk out of a nail salon without being rushed or dissatisfied. Not here.
My flight arrived late at DCA and I had emailed them a few days prior that I'll be arriving at a certain time. Within a few minutes I've gotten an email back confirming my appointment. Even though the salon closes at 7pm on Saturdays I got in and with no hesitation Jennie started worked on my nails.
She even remembered me from my first visit. She's the sweetest and will try her very best to get the job done the way her clients like it. Go check her / them out and you won't be disappointed (this is coming from a picky customer ) I went with a new style and really like it. You can pay cash / use Venmo which I loved or take out money inside the ATM they haveFeb 4, 2023Previous reviewI'm so happy I stumbled across this nail salon. Was on a work layover in old town Alexandria and popped up without an appointment on a Friday and needed a fill-in badly. My nails looked horrible.
Had to wait a little bit but once Jenny started on my nails, she truly got them right. Everything I wanted she delivered. She even made some suggestions on how to fix them up in a more beautiful and natural looking way. Ask for Jenny she's good and fast. I'm definitely putting this nail shop on my favorites when ever I have a layover there. Paid 55$ for a full which isn't bad at all. - Aug 27, 2022
This place is the worst. What you would consider a polish change anywhere else is a full pedicure here costing $60. I came in- shop was completely empty and they had no prices listed anywhere but I just knew I needed my feet done. They direct you to the color wall with no real understanding of what service you even want.
They do use OPI gel products exclusively for gel at least but they are visibly old and probably expired and don't warrant the experience bc you can buy your own and take them with you elsewhere.
When she was doing my "pedicure" I realized she had began putting the paint on without tending to my feet and asked her "what about my heels" - after a minute of confusion and me explaining the pumice stone she said that was an extra $5 -- babe on a $60 polish change, no thanks.
also they use one of those tablet POS where you are supposed to display the info to the customer but tried to hide the whole transaction from me, very sketch won't be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alyssa B.Lakeland, FL154Mar 1, 2023
Nail tech rushed through my nails, they don't feel dry and one is crooked. Barely did two coats of dip and they look thin. Not worth $65

Update - saw their response on their Google page to me- horrible customer service - FYI for dip in this area (as I've done my research) goes for about $45-50. Including removal. Requested Jenny based on reviews but felt completely rushed and she tried to upsell me the entire time. She definitely rushed, by the way now not even 24 hours later I'm going to get them redone somewhere else. I was NOT confirmed before checkout I was just told it was $65 and paid. This response is textbook gaslighting and should show the poor level of their customer service, I won't be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 11, 2022
Really enjoyed getting my manicure and spa pedicure here. It's perfect because I can just walk across the street from work, get my nails done and head home (aka good way to wait out rush hour).
The pedicure was a generic pedicure. Nothing extraordinary - your feet soak, a massage (my technician could've gone a little harder but that's preference so can't knock 'em down for that), hotel towels, lotion & scrub and you get some polish on those wiggly piggies.
Onto the SNS. I have tried 3-4 different salons and each time I end up not super happy with my nails because I pick a design and the technician tells me I can't have it because I like my nails shorter. So I end up settling or getting tips or keeping my nails long -- all of which suck. I was pleasantly surprised when the design I showed them actually showed up almost exactly the same on my fingers! What a concept.
Will be returning.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Laura H.Miami, FL0137Jun 30, 2023
I'm blown away by this salon! I found this place on a whim and walked in last minute right before closing time for a dip manicure. Kevin welcomed me with grace and patience. He took his time explaining the types of manicures they offer and walked me through all the different options. The salon is calm, clean and smells amazing. I'm very picky with manicures and Kevin exceeded my expectations. He was thorough and super detail oriented & my nails came out amazing. I'll definitely be coming back & I recommend this place to anyone.
