Dishonest business practices. I stopped to get my wife's legacy serviced at 48000 miles. I gave 2 stars because the staff was extremely friendly and waiting area was nice. I was shocked at the 295.58 cost of this oil change and tire rotation. This included a 60.19 charge for an engine air filter that I found on Subaru parts website for 17.20 which I agreed to before I researched how much markup was otherwise I would've just bought online and put in.
When I got home I popped the hood and was surprised when I had battery acid running down the side of my battery despite paying for the battery service which would have remedied this, my washer fluid wasn't filled despite being empty not using it on the way home and the grease points on steering arms didn't have marks indicating they hadn't been touched despite paying to lubricate chassis. Also I can't be sure, but I think I saw them using the same dirty engine air filter to sell filters to 3 different people in the waiting area. I'm not letting them touch my car again. Feel as if I paid for services that I didn't receive and profits were put over people indicating a greed based system, but they were nice so I wish them the best!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Bongo C.Bar Harbor, ME01Jan 25, 2024
Walking into Stanley Subaru was like walking into a car commercial: friendly staff, comfortable waiting area, Swiss watch efficiency. Here's my story. I hit a pot hole the size of Chris Christie. It tore out both sway bars and cracked the steering rack, though I didn't realize any of that at the time. I knew I had severe steering problems but hoped an alignment would clear it up. It didn't. I took my car to Midas in Ellsworth, ME for new tires and they replaced the sway bars. Midas was great. They gave me an estimate of $2500 - 3k to replace the rack, called me the next morning to tell me they'd actually taken the initiative to find out i could get the rack replaced under warranty wherever i bought the car. Amazing. Thank you Midas. I called Quirk in Bangor where I bought the car and they didn't want to hear it. Nope. Sorry. No applicable warranty in my case. Bad new never surprises me so I booked the repair at Stanley, the closest dealership. Their estimate was much lower than Midas but it was still 2k & change for the rack. They gave me a loaner at $4 a day, kept the car, ordered the parts. Took 4 days to pull it together. When I went back to pick up the car my service advisor Wen (who was spectacular) told me they'd installed the steering rack and fixed two recall issues ALL UNDER WARRANTY. My bill was $28. I will be with Stanley for the life of my car. Why go anywhere else? These are decent people doing the right thing. That's hard to find.

called for brake job and gave them vin #.
Drove an hour to them, waited an hour, then they told us they ordered the wrong pads and couldn't get the right ones for 7 days. wanted to charge us for a loaner car. Wow. Thats good business practiceHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ilana G.Rehoboth, MA24Aug 13, 2017
We were camping in Acadia and ran our battery down by leaving the key in the ignition (who knew that would be a problem?). We were concerned and wanted to make sure that the battery did not need to be replaced. Stanley took us in as soon as we got there, ran diagnostics on the battery, and reassured us that we were good to go. Did I mention that it was raining, and we had our two dogs with us? They really went above and beyond to ensure that our vacation was not ruined. Thank You!!!

Excellent, thoughtful, professional service.
2018 inspection for our used, rather old truck, revealed need for major repair. Great communication about the needed repair, cost, and time, that's remarkable enough. The sense that service folks, all of them, were committed to excellent service and getting it right is the best part.
Way to go!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Terry F.Augusta, ME0221Jul 1, 2018
Genuinely friendly service, and a low-pressure sales environment. I've bought three new cars here over the years and had them serviced at Stanley at all the recommended intervals. Never a problem. Those slimy, lying car sales guys you may have encountered at other dealerships, or have heard about? Stanley won't hire them, preferring to employ fair, honest people who work hard to make their customers happy.

These guys are great! I bought a car from them a few years ago and will always go back. The sales and service were top notch!

I bought a used Ford from Stanley's that had a recall they didn't bother to have repaired. Now the car won't even start so I can take it to a certified Ford Dealer to have the recall addressed. Stanley's won't offer any assistance in getting my car to Bangor. They knew about the recall beforehand and want nothing to do with it. Furthermore I signed a paper the day before I picked the car up saying my payment would be $170. So imagine my surprise and great disappointment when I was told my payment would in fact be $232. I know, I know I should have walked away but I desperately needed a car. Car buying is a dirty, dishonest business and this place proves it. I didn't even want to go there cos I haven't heard good things about Stanley's unless you bought a brand new model. I know I won't recommend them to anyone I know. In fact the car I bought was owned by the wife of one of Stanley's employees so you know darn well they knew about the recall but just wanted to pass the burden onto the buyer. No disregard for the consumer.

This is one of those rare dealerships that puts "doing the right thing" ahead of profit. Both their service and sales folks are several cuts above the typical car people.

This place is the best, they will bend over backwards for you and help in every possible way to either get you back on the road with your old car or sell you a new car. They really are the best. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new car.
