Afternoon meeting in town when visiting for work stopped in for a beer or two they only had one that they actually brew but plenty of others to choose from
Christine was a gem behind the bar very interactive had a great playlist.
Food was good and presented well as this is a place to visit with a very questionable history and very beautiful period interior

We tried. We really tried to like this place. As we sat down we made the mistake of reading other Yelp reviews. Too late to leave... we decided to give it a shot.

We ordered poutine and the buffalo cauliflower, and 2 old fashioneds. The server, Shelby, asked if we wanted the draft version. We said yes. Bad mistake #1.

The appetizers were delicious. Sadly that's where the good ended. The drinks were truly undrinkable. Awful.

Fast forward to the meals. We ordered chicken wings with chili garlic sauce and the almond crusted chicken salad. Wings: freezer burnt and the sauce was inedibly hot. The salad, edible but not good. The chicken had no flavor.

After the awful old fashioned debacle we opted to switch to Manhattans. What came to the table was a drink so heavy with vermouth and bitters it was as dark as a Coke and undrinkable.

We let Shelby know that we were not happy with our drinks and meals, she seemed completely uninterested in our dissatisfaction and said the drinks were not great because the bartender was new and "in training." If that. Were the case someone should have been checking his work.

Overall this place clearly exists to serve those attending shows at The Palace or other nearby venue, particularly those that come in from out of town. If this is their impression of the Columbus food scene I am very sorry for their experience.

Go somewhere, anywhere else besides The Elevator.

Absolutely 100% disappointing experience all the way around. We had tickets for a show at The Palace theatre this past Tuesday night and I made these reservations for 2 people two weeks in advance. I made them for 5 p.m. so we could enjoy dinner and drinks before the show. We entered the admittedely, absolutely stunning building and were led through the bar, which had a couple of tables seated and a handful of people at the bar, to the back to the empty dining room...and were seated right outside the service doors to the kitchen. We asked to change our table and the unsmiling host accomodated us and seated us at a table in the bar area.
Our server came over, introduced herself, took our drink order and did everything but bring them to us for about 25 minutes. We could see them on the bar but she walked past them repeatedly.
We placed our order and after a surprisingly short time, received not only and incorrect order, but the most disappointing plates of food for $40 we have ever been served. I ordered the dish called short ribs and described as this, "beer braise, horseradish mashed potato, chef's vegetable, caramelized onion, double bock demi-glace". As shown in the picture, I received a plate with a tough chunk of what seemed to be chuck roast gristle with bits of meat clinging to it, acidic, incredibly sour mashed potatoes and the chef's vegetable which was barely steamed broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. They weren't even warm, they were so undercooked. No seasoning at all.
We let our server know that the other dish was incorrect, she insisted we ordered the fillet, which is not an item on the menu, but it didn't matter because she was holding a plate containing a ribeye, along with the same sides. After reluctantly agreeing to replace it, she left the other dish sitting on the table, apparently expecting me to go ahead and eat it while my date watched. She ended up bringing back the proper dish but the sauce, described as "bacon red pepper relish, double bock demi-glacé", was plain brown grave with flat pieces of charred onions or something in it. The entire meal was indeble and while our server was surprised we did not eat and did not want doggy bags, she wished us a good evening and we didn't see her again. Plenty of staff saw our barely touched plates, including what I believe was the manager, and no one said a word. We did notice the absolute lack of joy or smiles on any employees' faces, including the bartender and I guess after reading the other reviews, they must be as miserable as we were.
After the show, we went to Kelly's Bar on Henderson Rd. formerly DiArinis and had epic burgers, fries and collard greens thanks to Ridiculous Eatz, which I will go review now. Dear reader, stay away from the Elevator and keep your fingers crossed that this place gets to show its full potential someday!

This is on the brewery trail with Discover Columbus so we stopped here for a beer. The bar tender was very helpful and entertaining. She was full of trivia about the building which used to be a 300 table five story billiard hall.

The place is now a restaurant with a very large bar. The bar is beautiful. The restaurant has nice art work but feels very dated. Cannot attest to the food as we just stayed for drinks.

The Mexican lager was good, maybe not as good as other one you find at near by breweries, but still decent.

All the food is just average and overpriced. I wanted to like this place but the food missed the mark. Service and lemonade are good but the food didn't have bold flavors. They have a lot of new Orleans titled food but none of it tastes like New Orleans. I'm from New Orleans so I was disappointed. The portions are small and you may leave hungry like we did. We had to send back the penni chicken because of the lacklustre flavors. The bright side is our server was excellent. She was very good. The other issue was the food didn't come with bread that doesn't happen in Nola. If they take pride in the sauce then you need bread to get it all in your belly. I don't recommend this restaurant. It's overpriced and small portions with bland flavors. The Ambiance doesn't match the food served.

You definitely feel the history of being in Columbus' second oldest building the moment you walk through the door. Excellent, vintage decor from the doors to the floors to the bar, itself.

I had a couple of beers for happy hour (thumbs up for the Elevator Dark Force Lager and meh for guest pumpkin beer on tap).

The sauerkraut balls were top-notch good, and the mustard dipping sauce made a great thing greater.

The poutine was a faithful adaptation to the dish in terms of how the core ingredients (fries, curds, gravy) tasted. Elevator's version added braised beef and green onion which complemented and enhanced the flavor. It's good in its own right, but I'm still thinking about those sauerkraut balls.

Extra props for the service, too. Our server Katie took good care and seamlessly handled our gift certificate when it was time for the bill. The experience was very nice.

I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars- it's a little better than average but not quite 4 stars to me

We did restaurant week 2023 here. The elevator has been on my list for a while

The food was good, ambiance was okay, cocktails were exceptional

I think the food was good not great. I feel like the plating was nice, food was tasty but it was just lacking a bit of surprise and spice when it came to flavor

I know this is Ohio but calling something blackened or Cajun- I expect a bite of spice

The salad I got had huge slices of onions and tiny cubed apples- it left the salad feeling unbalanced

The cocktails however- really great, inventive, tasty and strong. I think this is definitely a great place to grab a drink. They use watershed gin and bourbon which is truly a great decision and adds a lot

First time here, and we were blown away! Restaurant week, and the had everything on display. Really digged the stained glass and art throughout the restaurant. The service was spotless, she even got involved with our group and poker fun with everyone. Food was top notch...so many flavors!!

Stopped by for a drink with friends. Ended up getting chicken wings and sauerkraut balls too. The sauerkraut balls - sounds really odd, doesn't it? - were amazing. And the staff was great. Worth a stop!

The food was good! But I don't see Elevator brewing being around for much longer unless if they tweak their service. On a Saturday night, they were very understaffed. I was surprised to see it so busy, but that also meant a lot of work for their staff. Most of the tables didn't have food when we walked in. Our server took our order without writing anything down. I am NOT a fan when people do this. Some of the drinks were then messed up. Since he was busy - it took awhile for him to come back so we could let him know something was wrong. I ordered the almond chicken salad and actually LOVED it. The dressing was amazing and so sweet. I will 100% be ordering that salad for takeout. The cook your own steak thing has been Elevators thing for decades. The workers come and explain how to do it as well. The side of veggies that came with the steak was pretty darn sad. Frozen and small. The steak itself was fine, but not very seasoned as it comes with no seasoning. The place has potential, but it's showing its age throughout. There is a lack of parking, and when we called and asked where we could park, they hostess just said "Yeah we have that issue with people having trouble". I understand there's not valet, but a little recommendation would've been nice.
