Prior to a show at the Ohio Theater, we gathered for dinner. It seemed excessive that a small pour of house chardonnay was $12. We waited some time to give drink orders. It took some time to be served drinks. We eventually ordered dinners. We let the staff know we were going to an 8 p.m. show. The restaurant was not busy. It took over an hour to get our meals plus we watched folks walk in, place a to go order and get served before we did.We were ready to leave as curtain time neared. We raised our concerns about the folks served before us though they came in an hour after we did. We stressed we needed to be served asap. Our food then came and was good. But we had to eat very swiftly to make the curtain time. We were not asked if we needed more drinks. It was truly disappointing. An employee thanks us for staying to eat and said the cook's wife had just delivered a child that day and they were very short staffed. No comps were offered for our experience. We will not return to the Plaza on Capitol Square.

Lovely quiet setting and great service. It took a little while to get our main items but wine and a delicious flatbread appetizer came quickly. We had theater tickets and it is right next door.

I'm going to disagree with some of the other reviewers here. The food is outstanding here. I think the problem is it is a little pricey for what you get. I have eaten here several times and the food is always hot, fresh and delicious. The servers and staff are professional and friendly, there is nice quiet music playing. Several TVs are placed around on the walls. The space is inviting, clean and modern. An outstanding view of the statehouse is available if you get the right table.

I usually get the Angus burger and fries. Today's fries were just perfect, glistening fresh, hot, perfectly salty, like they were taken out of a fryer with fresh oil about 45 seconds before they hit my table. 10/10. My burger was almost as perfect, subtle smoky flavor, very meaty, fresh and pretty big, more than 1/3 pound, I think. I get mine with an egg over-easy on it. A nice option. The burger: 9/10.

I came to a catered event here a couple of months ago, that was also a first-class experience. Delicious chicken and risotto that was just perfect.

There's lots of on-street meters near and a parking garage underneath. It's an easy walk from many downtown businesses and apartments.

The Plaza would be a good place for a date and a great place for a business lunch. I work nearby and try to get here at least once a month.

      Tasty burger and fries.

Went for dinner before the Broadway Show Aladdin tonight. If you valet park and get your dinner ticket stamped you don't pay for parking! Coconut shrimp was delicious and turkey Rubin was piled high! Only disappointment was service was slow and we had to rush through our meal so we could make the show on time. Next time I'll make a reservation 30 minutes earlier.
Tonight went for dinner before Hamilton at Ohio Theatre. We made reservations 15minutes earlier than last time and that made a difference for not being rushed. My Cesar salad with chicken was fresh and okay. Nothing special and cost $16. Hubby ordered cheeseburger, which he enjoyed but his side salad was smothered in dressing and lettuce seemed like it was sitting prepared all day. Service was okay.

My hamburger was very good. Large burger and tasty pickle.
I substituted a side salad for the French fries.
The side salad must have been made up this morning as it was wilted and soggy.
The cherry tomatoes in the salad were past ripe
I should have gotten the fries.

Seems like this place might be a bit under staffed! I only saw two servers out running the floor and there were at least 50 people here - poor guys!

My chicken was subpar unfortunately. The chicken breast was very dry and the sauce on top had a strange flavor to it. I would avoid the chicken and take recommendations from other reviews on what to order!

My server was very kind and tried to check on me as much as he could, but it was very busy so I was waiting a bit for my check. Hopefully they can get some more people working (and find a better chicken recipe)!

I've reviewed The Plaza Restaurant before and pretty sure I stated that I'd never come back, that was about 3 years ago.

Well, unfortunately my Dad is wheelchair bound and it's the closest/easiest restaurant to the Ohio Theater, so guess what? We're back.

Worse service ever. First, I made a reservation and said we needed a table to accommodate the wheelchair. They didn't see that or didn't pay attention, so we waited 10 minutes while they figured out how to do that (take a chair from a table is probably easiest). We were seated 25 minutes ago (yes, I'm writing this in real time).

Ok, so we are seated and order our drinks. It took 25 minutes for me to get my drink, it's 45 minutes after we ordered, and they only have 4 items on the menu because it's a "theater" menu.....4 items and we've been waiting about 45 minutes for our food.

The waitress is ok, not warm and fuzzy. Would've like to have someone acknowledge that we are waiting so long.

Do not come here before a show at The Ohio Theater. Find another restaurant!

This restaurant was and continues to be poorly managed.

Hopefully we get our food soon.

The Plaza Restaurant & Lounge is located within the Sheraton Columbus Hotel and offers an American style menu.

I started off with the Beer Battered Pickle Chips, which were accompanied with a honey mustard sauce and herbed aioli. All were utterly delicious.

My entree was the tomato crusted salmon with a vin blanc sauce caramelized onions, roasted red potato and wilted spinach . To say I was disappointed in this entree would be an understatement. The salmon was placed on the caramelized onions and the vin blanc sauce tasted more like a white cheese sauce and was poured over 1/2 the salmon sitting on the caramelized onions. I removed the salmon from the onions, scrapped the crust and vin blanc sauce off the top and ate about two bites.

I would have scored this a 1 but the beer battered pickle chips saved this dining experience.

Don't Waste Your Time or Money
Honestly i have to say one of the worst places we have visited in Columbus. Besides our waitress (Jordan) being nice and professional we would considered this a 0 star or 1 star location. The plaza is part of the Sheraton Hotel next to the Ohio Theatre. Great potential for a great location and night out. Starts out with valet parking rejecting us because they are understaffed and we tell us we could park in state house garage down the street. We were seated after waiting for five minutes for someone to show up at the hostess stand. Then 10 minutes before anyone came to the table. We ordered drinks that were quickly delivered then ordered a Salmon Caesar Salad and their Salmon Entrée. Also tried the chopped salad and their Scallop Chowder. We agreed that nothing was good. The Salmon tasted old and had a strange taste. Both as an entrée and within the salad. The chopped salad was likely the best of anything but very small for 7 dollars. The chowder was watery and tasteless. As we said our waitress was nice but also brought soup and salad out with our dinner after a long wait.

If you are staying at the Sheraton, i would try their sandwiches. Just not worth the $21-$30 for entrees you will not enjoy. Better yet Uber to German Village to eat.

For a Marriott hotel restaurant and bar, this place needs a lot of work both on the interior and on the menu. I will not stay or eat here again as the food was not to par. The customer service on the other hand is very good and I feel bad for the folks that have to work here as they can do so much better in another restaurant, they are genuinely nice people.
