The Town Diesel Mechanic

Called on a Thursday afternoon. Told them the repair needed and asked for an estimate of time since we were traveling through the area and were basically stranded. Was told would be done Saturday.
Brought the truck in midday Friday, they inspected it while we waited and said to take the truck because they had to order the parts that I told them it needed.
"Parts will be here later today or tomorrow. I will call you when they show up."
We agree that we would stay in Vegas over the weekend and bring it in early Monday to be done same day.
Sunday rolls around, no call. I text him and he says parts are backordered, they will be there Tuesday. We agree that I bring it in at 7am Tuesday to be done same day. I do just that. Am told it will be done by 7pm.
I leave, try calling/texting to check in. Nothing. Keep calling. No answer. I finally take Lyft to the shop at 7pm to "pick up" my truck that should be done.
The truck is sitting outside, never been touched and the owner is "out on a run".
I am 100% cool with a shop calling me with bad news. I get it, shit happens. But communicate that.
I took my truck, unrepaired.
Don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid this place.

Called for an labor estimate to have a diesel fuel pump assembly installed. The estimate was nearly twice as much as the one I got from Monaghans Auto Repair.
I used to work in a garage do I know that labor is listed in a book. Monaghans had been recommended by a tow truck driver so I'll stick with him.

Absolutely the worst experience. Mind you, some of it wasn't necessarily their fault but the end result was absolutely horrible. No communication, no itemized bill plus, when we were told it would be ready on a certain day and fly out to pick it up...nope! Instead we get charged an extra $1700 in overtime so we can head home the next day. Oh, and the stolen (new) battery that was replaced with a crappy one, scratches on hood, food wrappers left in truck, filthy inside with cat prints and dust. Would 100% not recommend this mechanic.

While traveling from Salt Lake City to Lake Havasu with my wife & 2 young grandkids. Pulling a boat & camper on my truck a 2003 Dodge 3500 Diesel truck. Broke down just past Mesquite Nevada. First number we called was Carlos, he also tows big diesel trucks. At this point we didn't know what was wrong with the truck. Carlos recommended we call Elias at Western States towing. We had Elias tow us to the Chapman Dodge dealership in Las Vegas. Was after hours, so we parked my truck & boat on the street at Chapman's since their gate was locked. Elias was great, he drove us to our hotel. Next morning I go down to Chapman's. They tell me that they can't even look at the truck with a camper on it. Chapman's will get their own review from me! In the meantime I have my boat towed to have it stored, since Chapman's have no room on their lot for my camper or boat. So we are now looking for a diesel mechanic in Las Vegas, & Carlos pops up again. Called Carlos & told him what Chapman's said. He said he could look at the truck with the camper on. Call Elias back & have him tow the truck over to Carlos. Took him a few days, but we got the truck fixed, he replaced the transmission & clutch, for about that same price that the Dodge dealership in Lake Havasu city charged me 10 years ago for just a clutch! Highly recommend Carlos & his crew. Truck runs better than ever!
