The Village at Sherman Oaks

Cannot say enough good things about TVSO. I moved in my 92 year old mother just a few days ago and already I can see the exceptional care and attentiveness they take to ensure a good transition. This was a difficult move for her as she is recently widowed and lived in her home for over 50 years. Phillip and Elizabeth and Aida, made it smooth welcoming and easy for my mom--and especially me and my husband. Lovely apartments and grounds. They are very accommodating to individual needs. I have peace of mind and am so happy we found the village for Mom. Great programs and activities in a warm, friendly, environment. Like a big comforting blanket.

The peace of mind of knowing that my mom is being well taken care of, living in a beautiful community and happy where she is living a child cannot put a price on that.

Since Keith Payne joined there is a noticeable able difference. Many improvements, much more organization. Thank you to whomever had a good sense to hire Keith.

What a wonderful representative for the village!

I had a tour today with Elizabeth Gonzalez. I enjoyed my visit with her very much. She is knowledgeable, understanding and patient. I saw her interact with some of the residents and she is sincere and caring .

My Mom has lived at The Village for a little over 2 years now and is doing well as her age increases and her health declines (as is normal). The Village offers classes, outings and friendships from the variety of residents in this Assisted and Independent Living community. They are on their 3rd Executive Director, Keith Payne, and they finally got it right. Keith has been a huge asset in making The Village a better place to live. He increased the amount of assistants, installed upgrades to the infrastructure and, most importantly, has made himself available to residents and family members alike. Because Keith is there, I feel more confident that The Village will continue to improve, bringing a better quality of life to the residents. All that being said, no, it's not perfect - the aging population *really* likes to complain so as I told my Mom, she doesn't go to dinner, she gets daily b!tch sessions where they serve
dinner - isn't that great?

this is the most wonderful place I have been. I looked at 15 other homes like the village. nothing compares because of their incredible executive director Keith he is generous, available and sensitive. he helps us in any way he can. thank you Keith for making my stay here special

My mom has been at TVSO for almost 2 years now. She loves it, and so do we (her kids, siblings and friends). She is truly thriving there, making friends, exercising, enjoying the entertainment, and just generally doing really well. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the staff is incredibly warm and personable. Now that COVID isn't keeping everyone locked down, we are seeing the true value of TVSO in the many social, intellectual and therapeutic opportunities afforded to the residents.

There are a few suggestions I have made for minor improvements here and there but generally the care is fantastic. They are skilled at the occasional nudge to gently push my mom out of her comfort zone, which she needs. She loves the musical performances and has even been invited to sing a few times (which she loves).

My parents moved into The Village just before Covid hit. It was a good move for them, as it has been a safe and comfortable place for them during the pandemic. They shared a very nice two bedroom on the independent living side until my mom passed away last month from natural causes.
Because of Covid, it was difficult to find a place for a reception following my mom's funeral. Georgina, the dining room manager, really came through for us. She offered us the use of their private meeting room and the adjacent patio. This space is separate from the rest of the facility, so our guests were never in contact with the residents. Georgina and her staff handled everything - set-up, food preparation and layout, take-down and clean-up. Everything was great and it was nice to not have to worry about anything else on the day of the funeral.
My dad has many choices moving forward, but he decided to stay at The Village. We just moved him yesterday, down the hall into a one bedroom.

I cannot say enough about "The Village"....my mom is 86 years young and this lifestyle is keeping her active, social and healthy. She is as busy as she wants to be (very active) and some choose not to be. The classes like aquasize and volleyball (with balloons) keeps spirits high. Bingo is huge as is Rummycube. I'm heading over there now for their holiday luncheon!

I just had to get on here and add a review, my mom had a very difficult decision to make when it came to my grandmother's health and the care that she needed. We looked at several places but all the other places we had gone to seemed to lack staff or any kind of care to care? I don't know if that makes sense, the people there seemed sad... But at this place as soon as we walked in it felt more lively and warm and it definitely made it easier for us to decide on this place for my grandmother. She has been there now for two months and likes to text me about all the little events that they do especially on holidays. I think for Fourth of July they did a barbecue! She's also made friends already and every time I go to visit her she has to re-introduced me to all of them lol the stuff there's always friendly and I've already gotten myself acquainted with a few of the staff especially the nurses that take care of my grandma. The place is clean, secure, and everybody is friendly there. I definitely recommend that you check it out especially if you're having to make a hard decision like we did.
