Outside. Beautiful. Table clothes. Very nice and kind service. Food came out quickly, almost too quick. Didn't care for any of the food. We had two apps and left. Wine was ok they brought out two different bottles to try, place is now packed. Try at your own risk. Not my favorite here.

The whole meal everything pictured was 22.00euro
Everyone else cleaned their plates so maybe we didn't pick the right meals.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Beth O.FL, FL051Apr 9, 2024
Good food and spectacular service; very patient with our poor Italian. Wine was excellent.

Delayed flight, transfer to the hotel (which confusingly had a high name similarity to several others, such that we initially went wrong), and in the end, it was about 10 pm before we could go hunting for food. Is that a problem. It would be in the US, but in Italy, nessun problema! We walked through the narrow and still very crowded streets of the center around the Dome. The trattoria di Antonio was packed (with mostly Italian guests), but Antonio just created an extra table to seat us.
What else would you expect from Italy than having delicious food? And so it was: Antipasto siciliano, octopus salad, rigatoni and risotto pescatorio were all perfect - paired with the warm outdoor seating and the so charming attitude of the Italian staff.
Bookmarked for return!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Claude C.Ocala, FL018Oct 1, 2023

As one of the top-rated restaurants in Catania, we landed on Trattorria Da Antonio for our final Sicilian meal of the trip.
Their menu, while all in English, does have a nice sampling of dishes on it, including many with seafood influences. I was craving spaghetti carbonara that night and Antonio said it'd be no problem to make it.
There was a wait when we arrived, but after maybe 20 minutes or so, we were seated outdoors in their patio section. Our server was nice, but seemed annoyed that I wanted to select a dish that wasn't even Sicilian (it's Roman).
Nonetheless, it arrived and my tablemates were fans of it. I found it a bit too creamy and not traditional, but it was still good. Such a hearty portion too.
While this eatery was good, it wasn't incredible, and this was one of my least favorite meals. Perhaps I would have fared better if I ordered from one of their signature items. That's probably my fault.
I was, however, a fan of their wine. That stuff was too easy to drink!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Jul 24, 2016
Nice little place right by the castle in the center of Catania. We went for dinner based on the recommendations I found on TripAdvisor. No language barrier whatsoever and good food.
We started with bruschetta, a dish that was not on the menu but which they managed to ship up for us anyway. Delicious! We also had an appetizer listed as "raw and mozzarella" that turned out to be cured ham and fresh mozzarella. Also good and plentiful for an appetizer.
I went with our waiter's recommendation and had their paperdeli pasta with seafood. They heaped a nice pile of squid, shrimp, clams and mussels on a pile of wide noodles and topped the plate with tomato sauce. The seafood was delicious but I think Italians have a differing opinion on how pasta should be cooked as I've found it a bit tough each time I've ordered it on this trip. This meal was no exception. It's their country and their cuisine so I suppose the right answer is to either adapt to their cooking, order differently or go home. The seafood was exceptionally good and tasted so fresh that I knew it was the right choice as soon as I unwrapped my meal...that's right, it showed up all wrapped up in aluminum foil and piping hot.
We walked across the street for gelato after dinner...but that's another review.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Zvezdana O.Sydney, Australia89421310Jul 26, 2019
I absolutely loved my meal here! I had the best Pasta alla Norma I've ever had here (this is something I order everywhere) and Sardines Beccafico. I loved Catania and if I had more time, I would have eaten here again. It was a perfect meal and the service was very good too.

This was one of the best meals had during my almost week in Sicily. We came for lunch, apparently very early by Sicilian standards, and were immediately shown to a table on the terrace. We don't speak enough Italian to discuss our tastes in wine, and luckily the owner (Im not sure he was, but he seemed like it) spoke to us in english and french so we were able to choose our wine and he answered all of our questions about the menu. One friend and I ordered the pasta alla Norma, the third chose the pasta with clams. Our food was great. I'm not a huge eggplant fan, but wanted to try a local dish and the eggplant in my pasta was delicious. Lightly fried and covered in cheese (it didn't make me an eggplant convert, but I'm trying). The pasta itself was perfect and the sauce was great. The friend who had clams really enjoyed her dish as well.
Overall, this was a great spot to grab lunch in Catania with really friendly service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laurie M.Lyons, CO57183Apr 12, 2017
I have been living in the apartment above this little restaurant for a few weeks now. We finally went there for dinner two nights ago and it was lovely! Very local food - with a splash of finesse. I had a pasta over pureed pumpkin that was delicious. We had a Syrah that was delicious - wish I'd gotten the winery but I didn't.
Also - great ambiance. Nice old photos of Catania and beautiful interior. Gets busy though - maybe 10 tables. The host and the servers speak some English.
They said they take credit cards but when we gave them ours, they said there was trouble with it so we paid in cash. Later we used the card. Maybe there had been trouble or maybe they would rather have cash. Not sure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
