I went in with a tooth ache expecting to get a cleaning and be on my way. I was seen promptly and when the Dr came in he asked "do you want just that one wisdoms tooth out or all four". I have never had a cavity so the idea of getting all my wisdom teeth pulled on a whim made me nervous to say the least.
Dr Madson and his assistant were awesome. They were personable and helped me stay calm throughout the procedure. I am happy to say that I have been in almost no pain whatsoever and was back at work the next day. I could not recommend this place more!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alicia B.Seattle, WA24May 2, 2024
This makes me so sad to do this review. Something has changed in the customer service of late with this office. I've been with them for years and have always had friendly and kind front desk people and hygienists. Today I had to call in sick. The first thing they did was try to charge me a $25 cancellation fee. I get that, you need to hold people accountable. But I have no control over my illness (or if there was a family emergency, etc). I'm sick often due to a chronic condition and this place has always been really understanding, and kind. Not anymore. When I pushed back on the fee the receptionist was incredibly rude "well I guess if it's a hardship for you I can cancel it". What? It's not about it being a hardship, there's no reason to be rude. It's the fact I have no control over waking up sick. When I tried to speak to the front desk lead/office manager, she not only doubled down "well that's our policy" but then tried to encourage me to come in even if I was sick "we all wear masks anyway so we don't care if you come in sick" ok...what about the patients in your waiting room some of who might be immunocompromised? The sheer lack of empathy for my situation is one thing but to also not care about exposing your employees/colleagues to an illness?! When COVID is still roaming around? I'll be honest my brain sorta stopped there, I was astounded with the callousness this person was showing in regards to everyone around her. Your colleagues, especially those with small children or elders they care about, might not feel the same way. Then she complained about how there was nothing in my file that the front desk could see about my illness. It's none of their business what my chronic illness is at the front desk (my dentist and hygienists are aware of it), the first thing out of my mouth was that I woke up sick ...that's all you need to know. Regardless, West Richland Family Dental has shown their hand, they care more about a $25 fee than their patients (soon to be former possibly, I'm pretty upset about this interaction). This is just the latest in an on-going trend with my experiences with them, and it's harder and harder to excuse the poor handling of their patients as time goes on. I believe in supporting local businesses and it's awesome there's a convenient dentist in W. Richland but I'd rather drive an extra five minutes into Richland if it means giving my money to a business who shows their people (both patients and their employees) some compassion and understanding. At this point in time, I can't recommend this place, and I hate to say it.
(Usually I don't give such long winded reviews but I think it's important to explain why I'm giving one star...this sorta treatment might not be a deal breaker for some and I think it's important that if it's not, they may still want to go to a place like this. Being generic 'this place sucks' isn't helpful for anyone. Plus if the business reads this I want them to know why, as I'm sure my complaint won't go past Donnie; at no point did I get the impression she was taking me seriously, she just kept doubling down)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Loretta, the Lead Dental Hygienist, is amazing. She is gentle and very thorough, and explains what she is doing. The entire staff is very helpful, kind, and courteous. I look forward to having my next appointment with Loretta.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 26, 2022Previous reviewI've gone to a few other dentists since moving to the Tri-Cities from out of state and by far Dr. Madsen is the best dentist in this entire area. He is a top notch dentist. He listens to you and explains everything well and makes you feel at ease. Being a newcomer in this dental office, I have found Dr. Madsen to be very knowledgeable, honest, and trustworthy. I went in for dental cleaning and a checkup. When I saw Dr. Madsen I asked for his opinion on a front crown that was done at another dental office as it looked longer than my other front crowns. The dentist who worked on the crown always said he didn't think it looked longer but Dr. Madsen looked at it and said it was longer. I thanked him for his honest opinion as it had bothered me for a long time. I just couldn't convince the other dentist to fix it. Dr. Madsen said that's an easy fix and he can take care of it. At another appointment for some other work with Dr. Madsen he also worked on the tooth that was longer and filed it down for me at no extra charge. Where can you find a dentist who will take the time from his very busy schedule to fix something at no charge that should have been fixed by the dentist who worked on the crown? Dr. Madsen went over and beyond to take care of this for me. I highly recommend Dr. Madsen and will tell everyone what an outstanding dentist he is. The staff were kind and personable and took a sincere interest in their patients. Irina is awesome! She's answered and followed up on all of my other questions that came up in between. I am very grateful I found this dental office and Dr. Madsen.

These guys are on top of it!!!
We NEVER have to wait when we show up on time. The staff is wonderful and the prices are some of the lowest in the TCs. You can clearly tell it's being managed well!
I hope they continue this on for another couple decades so my kids can grow up going to WRFD as I haveHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Justin S.Richland, WA22Jan 18, 2020
About 2 years ago on a routine vIsit I was told that I had a cavity. I had zero pain in the area, but trusted the diagnosis and allowed the drilling to commence. Long story short, I have had pain and sensitivity in that tooth ever since (even after they reworked the filling when I complained of pain on a subsequent visit).
Two visits ago, the dental assistant proceeded to perform my routine x-rays. She asked if she should x-ray my front teeth. I said "as long as my insurance covers it." She went to the computer and then said "yep, your insurance covers it." When I checked out after the visit, the front desk clerk informed me that my insurance does, in fact, not cover the x-ray of my buck teeth. As a result, I had to pay for the x-rays out of pocket, even after I told the front desk clerk what the assistant had told me. They still charged me. Unbelievable.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brandon B.WA, WA534Aug 28, 2019
Woohoo! As good as it gets, is right!
Seriously, I was moved here from Houston Texas and while I was driving the U-haul I started getting this super painful toothache. It got to the point that I thought I was going to go into the ER to get some pain killers. West Richland Family Dental got me in that day! I literally pulled into the parking lot with my U-haul 30 minutes before they closed and they got me taken care of for a great price! Especially since I didn't have health insurance yet (because I hadn't started my new job yet).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anne S.Richland, WA138136Jan 18, 2020Updated review
Update: they called me today and had taken care of charge.
Well, I loved this dentist ! Then I started
Having all these "Problems" according tooone certain hygienist.
The real kicker was my last cleaning . They needed my x - rays ...
I made sure to ask of it was all covered by insurance and she assured me it was .
I left and a few weeks later I received a bill for around $20 ... what ?!! So all x rays were not covered.
I owed almost $20 for the x ray they did To my front teeth. . If I would've known , i would've declined . So she lied. It's not the $ it's the principle
I don't surprise billsHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 1, 2017Previous reviewWe are new to the area and finding a dentist is never an easy thing to do.

I called on a monday, looking for a dentist that would extract a broken and infected molar. I did not have any type of dental plan,am semi-retired,was looking for an easy cash solution. The staff was so nice over the phone, they said that they would have an opening the following afternoon. The ladies on staff were all very good at their jobs...all were sweet and treated me well.Dr.Madsen was very easy to talk to, an expert at his job . He had that tooth pulled in no time and I did not even realize it had been removed after it was all over....woo hoo! no pain at all. thanks for the good service...best regards, Doyle B. p.s. they gave me a senior discount , and I did not even ask for it! I was impressed. 7/27/21

I had the pleasure of getting my teeth cleaned at West Richland Family Dental. Megan, my hygienist was wonderful, and Jessica the dental assistant was really fun to chat with. Dr. Madsen was thoughtful in his care and very knowledgeable. The office was state of the art even having massage chairs with heat! I felt very taken care of and all the steps with the COVID19 protocols were top notch.
