Founded by physicians, we understand the healthcare system and are building a better future with affordable health plans for groups and individuals. 

Our story began in the Houston area with a small group of physicians that were concerned that medical workers in the area could not afford health care. In 2000, this group of Direct Primary Care physicians agreed to predetermined charges for primary care, and created a Patient-Physician Cooperative, which became the foundation for the group. Without realizing it, this group of physicians had created the first Direct Primary Care model. In 2007, the model was officially recognized through legislation in the State of Washington and the term “Direct Primary Care” (DPC) was introduced into the medical marketplace vocabulary.

While the DPC model provided core comprehensive coverage, they quickly realized there were gaps in their medical services and benefits. So they decided to bring in more medical providers into the network to provide these needed additional services. These included lab benefits, diagnostic imaging, pharmacies, and hospitals. They then added an A-rated indemnity and stop-loss (catastrophic) insurance policy. This powerful combination of products resulted in a plan that covered 90-95% of a member’s medical needs for less than $275 per month. Seventeen years later this DPC product is still available AT THE SAME PRICE.

Fast forward to 2015, and the plan that started as DPC was now the foundation for a Department of Labor qualified, small group ERISA plan. By capitalizing on the strength of the DPC contracts, the management company was able to offer small and medium employer groups better health benefit plans at much better rates. In 2018, Doctor John McCormick took over the company and worked hard to develop his vision for a zero deductible, zero copay program of medical benefits on the national scale that we have today.

Others are trying to imitate the Direct Primary Care model but are missing critical elements. Doctor McCormick has built robust national contracts and added an in-house member Care Team with Patient Advocates that engage with our members in a proactive manner to provide the best care in the industry. Our Care Team focuses on member education in regard to the complexities of the healthcare and insurance industry, and assists members in becoming more aware and in control of their medical decisions.
