Why Do People Say Epoxy Lining Is Bad For Plumbing?
Hi, this is Rick from Pure Elements Water. We are experts in preventing pinhole leaks in copper plumbing.
A lot of people ask us about the alternative of epoxy lining.
The epoxy lining has several different issues associated with it.
The first is, it doesn’t always coat equally. So it can create hot spots and create immediate leak situations and the epoxy lining people will now come and have to fix that.
Uneven application plus clumping and disproportionate bonding leading to almost 50 percent reduction in water flow.
The second thing is, the jury is out regarding MTBE’s and BPA’s. If you research that a little bit, you will find there is a big concern about chemicals, these resins can be giving off into your bathing and showering and drinking water.
In addition, once you do epoxy lining, you can’t use a traditional plumber, because the epoxy lining is flammable and even explosive in some cases. So now you’re married to the epoxy lining company to come out and do any repairs in your home.
And another really important factor is that the chloramines in the water actually render the epoxy linings brittle over time and they will break down and shatter like glass. And you can’t get it out. It clogs your shower heads and your fixtures and it’s very disconcerting when you look at that in a glass of water to drink or water to cook with.
So eventually, when that happens, the normal rule of thumb is the entire house needs to be replumbed because you can’t get everything out.
So, by contrast, we address the pinhole leak problem by fixing the water chemistry, stopping the attack on your existing copper pipes and allowing you to maintain those without having to blow any epoxy lining into them or without even having to consider a repiping situation.

People know there are issues with tap water but bottled water has issues too.
Although this is a Canadian video from 3 years ago, it exposes just one issue with bottled water in top brands like Aquafina (Pepsi), Dasani (Coke) and Pure Life (Nestle).
Do we think micro-pieces of plastic, consumed every time a bottle of water is ingested, could be a contributor to health problems like cancer?
Hi. This is Rick from Pure Elements Water. I just want to take a moment and quickly run down the list of six goals that you should have for any whole house or total property water system.
Number two – We’re looking for drinking water that is slightly alkaline and has the natural mineral content in place. But it has had the chemicals and the heavy metals addressed.

We were contacted by a Laguna Beach client, after installing one of our systems, with reports of water tests results with pH of 6.0 (highly acidic) and 30-50 parts per million of lead.
The pH is extremely acidic and would not be something we would consider as healthy for consumption over time.
This lead level is devastating to health over time – The maximum “Action Level” is set at 15 parts per BILLION with a health goal of zero.
The client bought a do it yourself (DIY) water kit that was providing completely inaccurate results in many of the line items on the test strips.
In fact several categories on the items list show measurements in the wrong register (parts per million that should be parts per billion, for example, and pH is not measured in parts per million.
We tested water from our HealthyHome whole house filter and salt free conditioner, our purified remineralized slightly-alkaline drinking water system, Kroger brand purified bottled water and the raw city water.
The real results were stellar from our systems, with pH levels about 8.0 (slightly Alkaline) and perfect balances of mineral content.
