Whether you have a standard enclosed or stacker car trailer, motorhomes are not well equipped to handle the tongue weight, especially with spare engines, transmissions, and loaded toolboxs up front! Have you ever noticed the motor homes that tow trailers have bulges in the sidewalls? The rear cap seam is often cracked or has been resealed several times?
This is from body and frame flex! Motor homes are not designed to carry the tongue weight of enclosed trailers, period! Trailer Toads are the ONLY motorhome trailer hitch that protects your coach by carrying all the trailer tongue weight.
Why do I need a Trailer Toad?
The most common problem with towing with motor home is the overhang in the rear and they simply were not designed to carry the tongue weight of larger, heavier trailers.
The Trailer Toad will carry that tongue weight with none of the trailer tongue weight being transferred to the motor home. All you will have to do is pull the trailer and stop the trailer.
Q: My motorhome (or truck) is rated to be able to handle the tongue weight and gross weight of my trailer, why do I need a Trailer Toad?”
A: In almost every case the Trailer Toad prevents premature wear to the coach frame, rear cap structure, and floor. Static tongue and trailer weight is not the issue with diesel pushers or one ton trucks but rather the constant “pounding” on the hitch/frame/body while going down our “less than smooth” highways.
The shocks used on Trailer Toads far exceed the static weight capacity and are what lead to cracked hitches, and worse, cracked frames. It’s not only a cost issue but a safety issue.

Compared to the 3500HD, the 5000SD has larger wheel bearings, higher rated axles and a 10,000 lb center steering spindle for the ultimate in reliability and reduced maintenance.

The 3500HD does not come with a Front Stabilizer Bar Kit. For added protection it, stabilizer bar kits are $149.95 option if ordered with a 3500HD. Just select the option above prior to adding to your cart. To prevent hitch damage we strongly recommend the stabilizer bar kit if you are towing a trailer over 10,000 lbs.

The Trailer Toad does NOT come with a weight distributing hitch. You can use your own W.D. hitch or add one to your order using the check boxes above. We recommend the Equal-i-zer weight distributing hitch, which we also sell.
