How to prepare for your appointment
Avoid alcohol and smoking 24 hours before treatment.
Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, St. John’s Wort, oral Vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) in the 24 hours prior to your treatment as they may promote the risk of bruising and bleeding in the injection area.
If you are currently taking anti-coagulation medications (Warfarin, Coumadin, Heparin, Lovenox, Enoxaparin, Lepirudin, Refludan, Ticlopidine Ticlid, Clopidogrel, Plavix, Tirofiban, Aggrastat, Eptifibatide, Integrilin), discuss the use of these medications with your healthcare provider prior to your treatment. You may or may not be a candidate for treatment with cosmetic dermal fillers.
If you are prone to cold sores (oral herpes simplex), take your prescribed medication (Famvir, Famciclovir, Valtrex, Valacyclovir, Acyclovir) as prescribed in the 24 hours prior to your treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
The Renew Wellness Center team will schedule your treatment following the consultation. The PDO thread lift procedure typically takes less than 45 minutes and is done in a private procedure room. First, the patient’s face is numbed with an anesthetic to reduce any pain or discomfort during the treatment. Dr. Desai or Dr. Patel will then mark the treatment areas on the face before placing Nova PDO threads under the skin with a fine needle. Once inserted into the skin, the threads act as anchors so the skin can be slightly lifted. Once the treatment is complete, the patient may continue their daily routine without any downtime. Some patients say the PDO thread lift process feels similar to getting dermal fillers.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT
Most patients will see results immediately after a PDO thread lift. Typically, patients will feel tightness in the face with swelling around the areas treated. These mild symptoms will fade after a few days, depending on the type of treatment given. Most PDO thread lifts take about 8 weeks to see the final result and the results may vary depending on the patient's age. Dr. Desai and Dr. Patel will help you determine if you will need additional treatments in the future. Taking good care of your skin will help the thread lift results last as long as possible.
Ice the treated area for a few minutes four to five times during the day for the first week if you are experiencing slight bruising or swelling.
Do not wash or touch your face for at least 12 hours.
Restrict facial movements for one day.
Avoid applying makeup or facial cream for at least two days.
Do not pull your skin, massage, scrub or exfoliate the skin for at least three weeks.
Do not perform any strenuous activity or heavy lifting for three weeks.
You can take pain medication as required after the procedure.
If at all possible, avoid aspirins for the next two weeks after the treatment.
Try keeping your head elevated for a week.
Sleep on your back to prevent any swelling.
Avoid straining or placing pressure on your face.
Do not schedule dental treatments for at least two weeks after getting the PDO thread lift.
