Royal dragons are the shiny breed of dragons that may be raised on the Manor Farm. They can be obtained by breeding two dragons that have the Frost Breath, Poisonous Breath, and Shock Breath traits between them; by trading with another player; or by checking a royal dragon egg (unchecked).

A breeding pair of dragons must have all three breath traits between them to breed a shiny (royal) offspring, but these breaths may be present in any slot on either parent. In addition, the offspring must be a black dragon. Unlike other animals, which have a 0.1% base shiny chance, a breeding pair of dragons with each of the three breaths has a 5% base chance to create a shiny offspring. The Sparkling (+2% shiny chance trait in slot 1/2/3), Glistening (+3% shiny chance in slot 2/3), and Radiant (+5% shiny chance in slot 3) traits may be used to increase these odds but are not necessary to breed a royal dragon.[1]

A "perfect" breeding dragon pair – i.e., a pair with the highest possible shiny-breeding chance – would have:

Dragon 1 Dragon 2
Breath 1 Breath 3
Breath 2 Glistening
Radiant Radiant

for a total 18% shiny chance. Because a child's traits also factor into its chances of being shiny, a baby dragon born with Sparkling/Glistening/Radiant to a perfect pair of parents has a 28% chance of being shiny.

Royal dragons have the same chance as normal black dragons at breeding royals and should breed black dragons by default.[2]

A draconic visage may be rarely gathered from a royal dragon.
