This is a beginner’s level course, open to novice shooters as well as those with previous firearms experience. Concealed Carry is a comprehensive course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. The course is a complete guide to understanding conflict avoidance and situational awareness. Instruction methods include classroom and live fire range time.

The The USCCA Concealed Carry course is for adult individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm or ammunition as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law and are of good repute. Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules, but also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations. Class size is limited to 10 participants. Fees for this class are:
$125.00 per person $225.00 for couples

NRA CCW Basic class schedule
28-29 Sep 8am-5pm
This is an intermediate level course, and therefore is open only to individuals who have previous firearms experience (experienced shooters who have not taken our Basic Pistol course must make prior arrangements for a pre-course qualification screening) or have completed an NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course within five years.
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end and may be conducted in a classroom and on a shooting range with an Instructor. Course topics include: Firearm Safety, Basic Defensive Pistol Skills, Drawing from Concealment, Loading and Stoppage Remediation, Mindset, and Carry Modes and Pistol Concealment. Course length is determined by the Instructor, to meet your State’s requirements for a CCW permit. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor. Students attending will need a good quality belt, a dominant-side hip holster, a handgun of at least 9mm or .38 Special caliber, magazine/speedloader pouches, at least 3 magazines or speedloaders, 250 rounds of ammunition, eye/ear protection, and a concealment garment.
The NRA CCW Basic course is for adult individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm or ammunition as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law and are of good repute and possess a minimum of the pistol skills presented in the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules, but also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations. Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course Certificate, or by passing the pre-course evaluation. Class size is limited to 10 participants. Fees for this class are:
$175.00 per person $275.00 for couples

Personal Protection in the Home Class Schedule

This is an intermediate level course, and therefore is open only to individuals who have previous firearms experience (experienced shooters who have not taken a Basic Pistol course must make prior arrangements for a pre-course qualification screening) or have completed an NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course.
The class consists of both classroom and range time, and covers introduction to defensive shooting, selecting a pistol for self-defense, concealed carry options, basic defensive pistol skills, strategies for home safety, firearms and the law, and use of deadly force. Range exercises include shooting from cover/concealment, kneeling, two-handed shooting positions, and dominant hand/support hand firing exercices. Both sessions must be attended to complete the class. The course is open to individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm or ammunition as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law. To register for a class please download, print and complete the registration form at the bottom of this page. Please send it with a check for $30.00 (payable to SF&G or Scarborough Fish & Game) as a non-refundable deposit to hold your position in the class. Class size is limited to 10 participants. You will need your firearm, a dominant-side hip holster, extra magazines/speedloaders, eye/ear protection, plus 150 rounds of ammunition.
Classes start promptly at 6:00 pm on the first day and 8:00 am on the second day, so please arrive a few minutes early. Please bring your cased firearm and 1 magazine to the first class. Do not bring any live ammo with you to the first class. Class fees are: $175/person ($150 for SF&G members) or $275/couple ($225 for SF&G members).

Personal Protection Outside the Home Class Schedule

This is an advanced level course. Prerequisite for this course is NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home.
This course teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home. Students have the opportunity to attend this course using a quality strong side hip holster that covers the trigger, or a holster purse. From a review of safe firearms handling and proper mindset to presentation from concealment and multiple shooting positions, this course contains the essential skills and techniques needed to prevail in a life-threatening situation.
The NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home is divided into two levels (basic and advanced). Level one is a nine-hour course and offers the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store, and use a firearm safely and effectively for personal protection outside the home. Upon completion of level one, students may choose to attend level two, which is an additional five hours of range training and teaches advanced shooting skills. After the classroom portion, students should expect to spend several hours on the range and shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition during level one. Level two involves five additional hours on the range and approximately 115 rounds of ammunition. The ammunition requirements are minimum and may be exceeded. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the appropriate course completion certificates(s), NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside The Home (identifies strong-side hip holster or purse use) certificate, and NRA Advanced Personal Protection Outside The Home certificate.(Lesson Plan 2006, revised 4-09)
