About

Belfast Dreams School of Music

Origins

Our Story
For years, we wanted to offer affordable lessons in our home town of Belfast and throughout Northern Ireland,  a chance I did not have as a kid and many of us wished we did.  I have been so fortunate to have music in my life both playing and touring around Ireland and around the world, playing and writing new music, while recording new songs on guitar, banjo and mandolin and even performing them live on radio stations and large outdoor venues.  Returning home, so much has changed about our Belfast and ourselves at Belfast Dreams School of Music want to be a part of this music future by giving both adults and children the same chance to succeed at music, even if they are total beginners, no matter your age or ability.

Our courses focus on Vocals and String Instruments:

One-to-one lessons and Group lessons are available in all thirteen courses involving Guitar, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin, Irish Bouzouki and Vocal Singing.
All tutors are certified musicians and teachers in Northern Ireland.
Prices discounted for advanced bookings of four or ten lessons and groups of 2 persons or more.

The Guitar is one of the most popular instruments in the world to learn to play and sing to since its ancestors like the Lute and Oud were played in the middle ages.

The banjo falls into the category of ‘folk lute’ – that is, it is an instrument with a sound box that is drum-like.  The origin of the Irish traditional music instrument as we know it today can be traced back to the southern states of America.

The voice is the original instrument.  The earliest singing was a simple imitation of sounds heard in nature.  Men and Women sang out their feelings long before they were able to speak their thoughts.

All instruments of the mandolin family fit just about every style of music classical, jazz, rock, swing, New Age, bluegrass, Celtic, Caribbean and Eastern European music.
