Teeth Whitening

With a beautiful smile you look healthy. Indirectly, it also gives you more confidence. A professional bleaching whiten your teeth in up to 10 shades and the treatment is performed at our clinic in Saskatoon. Each person has from their birth their own individual color shade on the tooth enamel. This is genetically contingent and will affect the teeth during their development. A major problem, however, is discoloration resulting from dyes, which the teeth are constantly exposed to. Various food products and drinks, as well as smoking, cause discoloration. Tooth whitening at a clinic is a much faster method than whitening at home, which usually takes several weeks. Only 60 minutes is required because a stronger bleaching gel is used. A specially developed UV lamp plasma light is used to further improve the result. A protective material will cover the gums, as a highly concentrated bleaching gel is applied to the teeth. The gel must remain on the teeth for 13 minutes. Then it will be removed. The process is repeated 3 times. After the treatment you may sometimes experience wheezing, but these are transient and disappear within a few days. A small number of patients may experience some flame / color change or white spots, but even this is transient and disappears after about 1 week. Possible flammability depends on the composition of molecules in the dentin (tooth bone). If and when this happens, the enamel needs a little extra time to become even in the color after a teeth whitening.

Guide To A Beautiful Smile

Do you have discolored or yellow teeth and long for a white and radiant Hollywood smile?

Then you can whiten your teeth with teeth whitening. It is becoming increasingly popular to whiten their teeth today, and you can choose to do it at the dentist or yourself at home. However, you must be 18 years of age to get your teeth whitened. Before you whiten your teeth, it is always good to find out as much as possible about teeth whitening, and if you are the right one to whiten your teeth. Of course, it is also a matter of cost and time. With us you will find the most important information about teeth whitening, how it works, what methods are available and what advantages and disadvantages there are with teeth whitening. We always start by taking x-rays to see what the root system looks like in the bone. Then we anesthetize the entire area, to later remove the tooth. When the tooth is gone, the wound area is checked. You may bite on a compress for a while to stop the bleeding and you do not swell.

How do I bleach my teeth at home?

It is becoming more and more common to buy your own products and whiten their teeth at home, as this is a much cheaper alternative to doing so with, or with the help of, the dentist. The results after a home bleach can vary greatly, and depend on everything from brand to method. However, if you choose to whiten your teeth yourself, it is important that you follow the instructions carefully, and preferably consult a dentist before you start. What does a tooth whitening kit for the home consist of? Most often, the teeth whitening, which you can buy online for example, consists of a kit with whitening gel and a tool (often a rail or brush) that you will use to attach the gel with. Usually these teeth whitening with these methods lasts for just over a year, but the results can also vary. What is important to know with these products is that they are not medically tested, which can mean more risks than bleaching your teeth with products from a dentist.

Teeth Whitening Frequently Asked Questions:

Why do I have yellow or discolored teeth?

We all have different dark primer on our teeth. Teeth can also become yellow or discolored if they are rooted (then in a blue-gray direction), have a hereditary disease or as a child have received a certain type of antibiotic or tetracyclines. Children who drink a lot of fluoride can also in some cases have discoloration on their teeth. Our teeth often darken over the years, but factors such as coffee, tobacco and wine can also speed up the process.

Should you do something to your teeth?

You can brush your teeth at a dentist and try to maintain good oral hygiene - this can reduce the risk of yellowing teeth. Most of us can also choose to whiten our teeth, but it is not possible to guarantee a specific result of the whitening. However, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, freezing tooth or thin enamel, you should not whiten your teeth. If you are unsure, you can always consult our specialist Peter in the questionnaire a little further down this page.

Methods and techniques for whitening your teeth

Teeth whitening is a chemical process. The bleach penetrates the teeth and breaks down the discolored substances in the tooth, to replace them with less discolored substances. Today, gels are usually used to whiten teeth. However, there are many different types of bleaching and tooth whitening methods on the market today.

5 different methods for teeth whitening

For example, you can whiten your teeth through bleaching rails, plasma light bleaching, toothpaste gel, laser bleaching or chlorine dioxide bleaching. You can also choose to whiten your teeth at a clinic, or buy your own teeth whitening from stores, via mail order or the internet. A dentist often uses pale gels containing a maximum volume of 6% hydrogen peroxide.

Tooth whitening rails or strips

One of the most common ways of whitening your teeth today is using bleaching gel along with bleaching rails. The gel is usually ironed out in a plastic rail, which you then place on your teeth during the day or at night. Another method of tooth whitening with gel is disposable strips and disposable rails, which you use during the day. There is also a lacquer containing hydrogen peroxide or urea peroxide which can be brushed on the teeth to whiten them. Rails, strips and brushes of this kind are a common method for teeth whitening at dentists and clinics, and also the method most commonly used when buying home teeth whitening products. However, the result of the bleaching varies. Factors such as marking on the product, how often you use it, how your teeth looked before you started bleaching them and whether you smoke or sniff can affect the results.

Pros and cons of teeth whitening

There are many advantages as well as disadvantages of whitening their teeth. Sure we all want a white smile, but it is important to remember that there are also disadvantages and many possible side effects of whitening their teeth. In addition, there are both advantages and disadvantages to bleaching the teeth of the clinic and yourself at home with products you have purchased online. It is important to emphasize that with the right bleach and bleaching method you often do not have any problems with your teeth. However, wheezing and tenderness in the teeth are the most common side effects, and can occur in all whitening methods. However, as soon as you stop whitening your teeth, these side effects disappear.
