For few years of my life, if anyone had asked me who is the person that inspired me the most. I would tell Guido Orefice , the most interesting thing about Guido is that almost nobody knows him and he doesn't exist. Guido is the lead character in the movie Life is Beautiful. The fact that Guido is fictional, makes him even more immortal. This movie has inspired me the most and it gave me a lot of lessons for my life.

Life is Beautiful or La vita è bella 1997 Italian tragic-comedy film directed by Roberto Benigni, Benigni also plays the lead character in the film who is Guido. The basic story line of the movie goes like this, a happy go jolly mans family will be separated and he will end up in the Nazi concentration camp. The struggle a father goes through to save his son and also make his son believe that the world is still a better place will make anyone's cheeks wet. It a story about survival and also the triumph of love and freedom.

Guido being a Jew falls in love with a German woman and they both will get married and they will have a son. The half of the movie is a rom-com. But, as soon as the war begins the Germans will start ruining the lives of Jew. Many movies  have made films about it and most of the films that are made about this topic are very serious in subject. Taking a serious subject and expressing it with comedy is a very bold move, the movie not only funny, but also it shows the pains and sorrows these people been through during the war.

I've made all my friends and family watch this film. This film has a kind of a hangover factor in it, whoever watched this film will talk about it for few days. It will be stuck inside your head and also will force you to be a better person. After watching this film I learned the real value of food. No, the film doesn't show people in hunger. They show the pain in a way that no film has done before.

The most important thing this movie teaches is the fatherhood. I am not a father, but people who are married and have kids will be more effected by this film. I once watched it with my aunt and she was in tears. That's when I felt this film has different effect on different people. Guido will make his son believe that the entire holocaust was a reality show game and creates imaginations inside the head of his son. Driven by imagination his son will do whatever his father tells him to do, to win the prize.

The movie has inspired me and millions of other people. With this post I want to tell you all to watch this film once in your life time. Because, this film is a life time experience. I know these are heavy words which I am using, but its all worth it.

Thank you, if you have any questions about this film or films in general put it in the comments. Cheers!

I always enjoyed the movie when it came out.

Great review @nandan and is a tragic-comedy as you said and that surprised me the way how Roberto Benigni has succeeded in transmitting so many feelings from moments of happiness passing suddenly to moments of sadness. Is the masterpiece of Roberto Benigni and a film that I recommend to everyone.
